While I think it's not SW:TOR, but a casual 'lobby' MMO like Clone Wars, I find this utterly intriguing. If Lucasarts did overhaul SW:TOR for Wii U, perhaps changing the combat system, what would it do for the game and the console? Exciting stuff, and I'm interested to see what happens. |

Originally posted by superniceguy LOL! You might actually want to read up on consoles a bit more. Each console has their own platform and tools! There are very few Licensed engines available today that are multi platform, like Unreal Engine 3.0. But HeroEngine isn't one of them. It's PC only! |

Originally posted by BigAndShiny I'm not excited by even the idea...a Wii has even less buttons on its controller then a PS3 or a 360, not to mention less power under the hood...the practicality of an MMO on a Nintendo system right now is just absurd! |

Originally posted by lavosslayer wii U has reports of it being anywhere from 20% more powerful then a PS3 to some devs caling it less powerful (but is unreliable sicne most early dev boxes are less powerful then the finished product) |

Originally posted by cloud8521 and yet the power requirement still isn't my main concern...do you realize the huge undertaking that would be required to convert an existing MMO from a PC to accomodate the lacking capability of a console? Your talking almost the complete and total redisign of every major system in the game...it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever for any company to do this, especially with a game that by many peoples standards, is failing...
The idea of this even happening at all is what is laughable my friend!! |

the UI? thats well within any budget of a designer. they dont have to make many other changes as the WiiU has a touch screen allowing for the skill bar to remain. that is why many devs are looking into the Wii U as a MMO console |

Originally posted by cloud8521 In the case of SWTOR, the entire Hero engine for one! Its not as simple as it seems. The coding is designed around the Direct-X API. Although the Wii U is apparently able to use Direct-X 11, the hero engine is based on the Direct-X 9 framework which is very different (and why most games that support DX10 and DX11 also have a seperate DX9 launcher). Then you get to the controls, I don't know about you, but having so many things be touchscreen based in an MMO seems counter-intuitive especially with the limited screen space and buttons on the touchscreen controller. Unless the game only allowed for enough skills as there were buttons, then I don't see it being able to support an MMO like SWTOR or WoW. Perhaps a game like Tera or Vindictus or even DCUO, thats more action oriented, but nothing with more then 8 skill slots and more then one hotbar (SWTOR by default has 2 one for comanion one for you). Your reaction time in combat would be total crap with anything more then that and I know many console players would be left out in the cold by most PC gamers due to that one issue alone when it came to endgame content. An MMO would have to be designed specifically for the console from the start and only for the console for it to have any viability because the potential tech advantages of a PC far outweigh the capabilities of any console out currently or coming out later this year. Unless of course a console developer finally has the bright idea to create a keyboard and mouse peripheral and actually support it for the sole purpose of allowing MMOs on their system...but we all know that's probably not gonna happen. |

It has a touchscreen thats much bigger than your average phone. They could easily fit menu, inventory, chat, hotbar on there. In fact, it might be interesting how they do it. |
