So, I'm a level 15 Smuggler on Coruscant and I've just finished the Black Sun area. I'm actually pretty concerned that I've not spent my money well in buying and subscribing to this game. So far, it seems that the gameplay consists of killing 50-100 bad guys on my way to toggle a switch or talk to an NPC, and then killing 25-30 more to toggle another switch, and then finally going back through the entire mess of enemies trying to avoid having to killing as many of them over again as possible. I'm really hoping Coruscant is just an extension of the Hutt Starter world which would explain the complete lack of depth. It honestly feels as if I'm just having to fight my way through room after room after room of the same bad guys over and over. I knew this game would be a primarily solo experience for me, and I'm fine with the normal amount of grind found in MMOs, but this is beyond ridiculous. I'm thinking the primary reason this doesn't work at all while all other MMOs can sort of get away with it is because the maps are some compact and the bad guys are all the same.
I'm also pretty uncomfortable with having no fear of dying and feeling as if items, weapons, and credits have almost no value in this game, but right now I'd be just happy to hear that after Coruscant the game really opens up.

Either you did ZERO research before you bought the game or you blindly followed the advice of fanbois on the forums. Either way, yes it is exactly the same all the way to 60 just with different environments. And no, you will likely not die at all until you hit the level cap unless you are doing flashpoints or heroic group quests. |

If you pay attention to the layout there is often a path that you can stay on that just avoids having to fight everything in the way. Make sure you load up on every mission available before going into the "hostile" area. You can very often be finishing 2-3 quests at the same time and on the same mobs. When my wife and I are playing we often go and finish several quests then use the port ability to go back to the main area. This usually works out to about an hour to hour and a half playtime, works perfect for us. |

Also, OP, it is pretty much the same the whole way through the leveling process, although at certain intervals in your class story, you do engage in a number of somewhat more difficult fights, which is a nice diversion from the tedium, at least. It helps to play a class featuring a story you really like. I wasn't a big fan of the smuggler story, personally. If you enjoy that, however, my suggestion is to somehow find a duoing partner. Playing with another person in TOR was far more enjoyable for me. My friend and I tackled more heroic quests that way; plus, watching her dialogue responses was absolutely hilarious at times. Especially when we'd each choose the opposite response. |

Sadly, the maps in TOR are some of the most restrictive I've found in an MMO. The zones eventually open up a little, but even in zones like Alderaan and Hoth, you'll find yourself hemmed in by rocks, walls, rock-walls and other wall-like objects that constrain your ability to travel "across the wilderness". The maps aren't enormous, but because of the convoluted paths you must take from point A to point B, travel does eat up a good deal of time. It's never any worse than it is on Coruscant and Nar Shaddaa though. Those two zones are practically just series of tubes connected by flight points. As far as the enemies, you'll generally always fight a pack of three mobs and most are humanoids of various cults/factions. |

Yes, you waisted your money. No, Beyond the epic flashpoint storylines, the game does not get better. My question to the OP is this: Why the @#$# did you buy the game and pay a sub fee after all of the reviews on this sight told you specifically not to, and why....I had even made a thread, and went troll on several (and was suspended for one) on quite a few threads about how much this game sucks total ass....And you STILL ignored and bought it? Hah.
I'm still getting lag on single player D3, and it's pissing me off to no end. |

Originally posted by Frek Here's something that really perturbed me. I would load up on missions but when I got to the next step, I had so many missions I completely forgot the story of whatever one I'm on. All the damn missions start running together. If I tried just taking 2 or 3 at a time I would get so damn frustrated having to run the mob gantlet over and over. My opinion OP is you should of done the trial. It stops at level 15 and since your asking these things at that level you might of saved yourself a tank of gas money. The trial was plenty enough for me to judge the game. Live and learn but too late on this one I guess. |

OP thats pretty much it for 50+ levels theres the occasional quest that is so stand out that you wll think its awesome but otherwise expect 90% of what you do to be go x do x whilst killing x amount of x often x 4 stages.
You can break it up with some PVP but depending on server they now can take hours to pop but wait you cna also do flashpoints if you log on at 9am and start forming a group you may be good to go by 9pm.

Welcome to SWTOR. It only gets easier. By the time you're half-way up, you'll be massively over-leveled and able to do Heroic-4s with your companion only. |

After being attacked for most of the guantlet I had to run, I commited suicide to just reset it as there was no way to fix it and I got stuck at a bulkhead that wouldn't open because the NPC had to be dead. |

Nope that is pretty much it. Only that changes is what companion you may use later on. |

If you're not into the story, personal storyline, voice overs and cinematic sequences, then the game is not going to be all that much fun. Join the League For Gamers. |

Gameplay is the same., unless you want to break it up with some space missions I guess. Space missions were even more boring for me. If you are not into the story or delving into the companions stories then just quit now. I had fun and leveled 2 char becuase I like the story. But the only challenge solo is doing the heroics by yourself.
Then again gameplay is the same throughout every MMO. Gameplay itself doesn't vary much from lv 1 to whatever lv. |

Originally posted by Laserwolf As others have already said, you've seen pretty much everything TOR has to offer from a gameplay perspective. The enemy AI doesn't change at all, the game is Clumps of Three Mobs Online from 1-50. I did find the voice acting halfway decent. At least as a smuggler you can half-assedly role-play killing everything in these zones to complete the missions; as a light-side Jedi pathologically murdering my way through the galaxy, it was really difficult to keep up the pretense that I was playing a decent Star Wars game. |
