So much wrong with the original post - not even sure where to start. So I'll just say "I'm sorry you didn't like GW2 Mr. OP, but I think you came into it with bias and just confirmed what you already thought before hand." Nothing wrong with that, to each their own, but "knowing one single person IRL who likes GW2" is just a silly thing to say. The positive reactions to the BWE obviously outweigh the negative by a factor of at least 100, even on this website which generally is very anti-theme park and anti-"next big thing" so that tells me something indeed.

All I'm going to say is the Human starting area is boring and bland. I'll give that to ya. I didn't even try Norn cause of what I heard. I think that early game seems really boring and it gets pretty good mid to late game. I have no idea what they're planning for end game cause end game in GW1 was pretty much after about a week when you hit level 20 midway throught the campaign |

Agree with the OP. Obviously there are good parts, but I was incredibly underwhelmed by the game.
I absolutely love the UI design. Hated my character. Couldn't make one I liked. Not enough options. Made a human male and he sounded like a tool. Maybe they added more voice options later, I don't know. Loved the necromancer spells. Environments were nice. Human city was poorly-designed but beautiful. Quests and 'dynamic events' bored me to tears. Combat was . . . decently entertaining.
More power to you if this game is your Jesus like so many have been exclaiming. More for you. I'll pass on this one. |

You shed tears and whine "This is Warhammer Online 4 years later..." as if it's a bad thing. I look at that comparison and smile, thinking "Awesome! I loved Warhammer!" |

I don't know a single person who plays PC games in real life. That doesn't stand on it's own. Anyways, if you go into a game expecting to hate it then that is what you are gonna get. I do that a lot of the time, but the difference is when it is the opposite of what I expected I tend to admit it. Anyways, If you don't like guild wars 2 that is fine, move on. You can't force a horse to drink water from a river. |

Originally posted by Istavaan I personally never thought of it as that, I've played enough MMOs to not get my hopes up when a new one comes around hyping itself to high heaven. aka every AAA title in the last 5 years or so.
Maybe I'm a little jaded lol.
But as for the Jesus comment, I'm only exaggerating the sentiments of all the fanboys praising GW2 for being the best thing since sliced bread. Half the posts on these forums are about how "this one game is complete trash and they can't wait till GW2 to come up because it's going to be the best MMO ever." I'm not challenging that GW2 isn't a good game, just that the people on the forums make it seem like it has no faults and then brutally thrash anyone who says otherwise. But that's with most things of course. So as I said: More for you. :P I'll go enjoy somethign else. |

I just wanted to point out, that, while everyone is allowed an opinion, the OP obviously does not pay much attention at all, so his opinion is most likey a biased opinion.
He mentioned that Gamebreaker said that questing is new and exciting and went on to mention that questing is still the same kind of questing as in every other MMO. While Gamebreaker said that ArenaNet has put a new spin on questing, they also mentioned (several times) that you WILL still be doing the sme types of quests, but they are rpesented to you in a completely different way than in other MMOs. GW2 is not completely changing the face of MMOs as we know it, but they ARE taking several steps away from MMOs as we know them. This is enough for a lot of people to want to pick up the game and play it, because they are trying to break the mold, even if it's only small pieces at a time. Other developers have made tiny steps in this direction, but none have made the leaps that ArenaNet has.
That's my opinion anyway. I like the game for what it is and I don't need the hype from other people to tell me I like it, because I have experienced it myself and like what I see. |

Originally posted by CelticDeath It's difficult to take into account anything postive that people have to say, considering the massive amount of spin that's been put on this title on this particular website, but especially when I look at your account, and see that it was just created, and this is your first post.
While I agree that for the price you pay for a B2P game like Guild Wars 2, and the amount of content available is well worth the cost of maybe a couple of movie tickets and some snacks at my local theater, the behavior of some of the alleged "fans" of Guild Wars 2 has been less than stellar, and there have been a lot of questionable posts on threads for other games that have been regularly hijacked by these same alleged "fans" that bash on games other people enjoy, while purporting so many outlandish claims about Guild Wars 2 that they come across almost like extremist religious fanatics.
I have my copy pre-purchased, but I would never bother to disturb someone else's conversation in a thread for another game on these forums to espouse my undying devotion for GW2, and at the same time insult their tastes for liking something else. This is something that a lot of us are seeing time and time again, so it doesn;t surprise me that some people might lash out at this title. |

I fail to see how my account creation date has anything to do with it. I am generally not a vocal person in any form that I browse, and I have been on and off this forum since back when Ultime Online first released. In fact, it's altogether possible that I had an account under a different email address at that time. Anyway, that's not the point, I guess I am just getting tired of reading posts that are not well thought out beforehand and with no time spent putting them together and then people expecting that they have just created the end all argument that the games is terrible and disuade thousands of people that they were wrong in choosing to play or like it. Yes, there is more hype in this game than I have seen in a lot of ther recent releases, and I believe it's because this game IS making changes that have needed to be made. It's not the end-all of MMO's, but ArenaNet is making large steps away from what has been the "cookie cutter" for MMO's for such a long time, and I think it's a good thing and I hope that other developers take a look and it pushes them to take strides away from the norm today. I love to see new things in gaming and I love to see game developers push their games to the next level, and I think GW2 is taking the step so many others were scared to take on the MMO platform for such a long time. |

Clearly you can't have a bad opinion of this game with Guild Wars fanbois.
Which is a shame, that could potentially ruin the game, especially when people like nice communites in game, not one that judges your opinion as invalid.
If you didn't like the game, then good for you, it's your opinion, you don't have to buy it now.
But telling someone their opinion is wrong, or not as good as yours, is WRONG, don't do it, makes you look like an idiot (that was aimed at half, or more, of this thread.) |

Originally posted by felchawe My point exactly, you only like reviews/opinions that are positive about the game. Do you not think that's a bit narrow minded or fanboish? Becasue it is.
Also, I didn't give a review on the game, good or bad, I was just defending the OP's right to have his own opinion.
Here is a negative review that people like you bashed because they didn't agree, or like, his opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=gdO_6CHYAX8
That's a popular youtube chanel, which can be seen as a form of media, so yes you have now seen a negative review.
People like you will put people off Guild Wars 2, let's hope the community isn't as narrow minded as you.
If you don't like someones opinion of something you like then move on, you can't change someones opinion with harsh words. We all have a right to an opinion.
If you honestly think this game, or anything for that matter, will get unanimous positve reviews from everyone then you are sorely mistaken and again very narrow minded.
Move on mate.
P.S I like the game, I think it will be one of the better recent MMO's, but I still respect the OP's opinion, even if I don't agree with it, as you should. |
