I don't see how it is any different humor than the regular trolling and flame-inducing posts.

It's so exagerated that if you actually removed the things he is "complaining" about, you wouldn't have much of a game there.

Yet, it is still trolling and it is attempting to belittle the posts who find certain aspects to be too familiar for their tastes.  Everyone understands that you can't have too extreme variation, but it is perfectly okay to be tired of certain aspects that they wished would be far more different from the norm.

I am sorry mate but GW1 was a very succesfull game, it was no MMORPG tough, but it is seen by both the gaming community as the press as financial advisers as a very succesfull game. Your definition of Fail does not compute with general logic.

Agreed, GW1 is one of the top best selling PC games of all times and it beaten games like Diablo 1 & 2. It was made with a very limited budget and earned loads of cash. If that is failing I don´t know how success look.

It was however not a MMO.

 

According to wiki, the 6.5 million figure for GW1, counts each of its three expansion packs as a unit as well. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_PC_video_games.

Diablo II original without expansion packs sold 4 million units.  I would like to know how many bought the original Guild Wars without counting every expansion pack as a unit.

Well, the difference is that each chapter in GW1 (Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall) are standalone campaigns. By definition they are not expansions, only Eye of the North is an expansion. Hence it is actually ok to count them individually. Also, it doesn't matter how many million units were sold, because I got several copies of D2+Addon myself. In no way do these figures represent the actual gaming populace.

One thing is obvious though, the GW franchise is a highly successful one with over 7 mio units sold and ~91k units selling each month. So, you are saying that Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall can be considered to be stand-alone games but belonging to the same franchise? If so their numbers should be seperated. It would be of interest to see how many bought Prophecies, how many bought Factions and how many bought Nightfall.

 

The thing is that if you are going to measure success, there ought to be a common (common as in everyone uses it) measurement system. It is bad that Guild Wars, doesn't give the straight numbers for the different parts. 

 

 

It's not as bad as Blizzard using the 1.4million copies of Diablo 3 that they gave away to bloat their pre-order and units sold number.

It's not as bad as Blizzard counting anyone that plays by the hour as a sub simply because they have time left on there account even if they haven't played in years lol. Gets worse when you take into account they are counting those playing the "Free to level 20" thing as well lol.

We've had companies telling us forum accounts = subscriber accounts.

Counting standalone campaigns that are large enough to be there own game as a unti sold seems to not be so bad. Actually I even agree with counting the stand alone campaings because they were stand alone. Yes.... they could tie in to each other, that's a bonus not something that should be counted against them.

In any case if this is your crusade I can't desuade you but maybe you could at least consider the fact that there are more worthy targets for your anguish?

I think by now that it's pretty clear that the OP was being sarcastic, probably a GW2 player himself, just pointing out some of the flaws people can come up with regarding GW2 which indeed are pretty amusing.

I know you are just trying to keep on the flaming, but I would point out that GW2 did use uncommon graphic effects such as light reflection on the blank floor and light distortion when looking through ice sculptures.

Well, Lemmings is an example of a game where you don't have an actual character, but you play some form of a " God" that can do stuff to creatures in the game.

By collecting various emotions, you can use them to eventually build neuroses and other severe mental problems, giving you better hooks into your ride of choice.

There's no direct player versus player, there's only you and the various hosts.  Even if you drive somebody's host to suicide, it's not like you're attacking them directly, any more than if you were to gank somebody's mount in WoW.

Brilliant!  It's totally different.  I also think it should be done in lots of various colors, so it sort of looks like a version of the Sims if you are dropping acid and wearing kaleidoscope glasses.

I can feel the critical gaming awards rolling in already, for this MMORPG that isn't afraid to contfront meaningful RL themes, and leaves behind the childish sword swinging of previous MMOs!

I should start up a Kickstarter... For just a thousand dollars, you can get an emotion NAMED after you (I feel very... very... Darkpony.  So VERY Darkpony.)

That's actually scary. A bit of a blueprint for alien invasion. One that we would never notice. They'll not wipe humanity out, they'll just use us to their own end and make us believe its our free will too.
