I remember FF14's release and you'd see the exact same terrain every few steps.
Whoever did GW2's graphics must really love their job because they spent an awful lot of time making sure the world looked good. |

Why hate on any game? We each have our own personal favorites and preferences, but it doesn't make it wrong it just makes it different. I personally love GW 2 and I do not like WoW, I never have. But that's MY opinion.. it's neither right nor wrong. We all don't have to like what others like..... so lets lay off the "hate" and putting people and their favorite games down and just enjoy the gaming for what it's supposed to be for... FUN. |

my little bro bought both, Terra and Gw2. All i can say is, since he has a power PC, Terras graphics are superior in every way compared to GW2. GW2 engine looks like it stopped at 2008.
Face it guys, even A-net said it: GW2 uses more developet version of GW1; ITS the 1.5 Engine. |

One thing i haven't noticed in this entire thread. No one has mentioned the 3 dimesional illusion Anet has pulled off here. I haven't seen a 3d feel like this since Doom 3 was released, Unreal 3 came really close. For anyone that has actually played the game, there really is no denying it. It's something videos don't transfer, for w/e technical reasons i'm oblivious to. How often do play a game that begs you to attempt to stick your hand through the screen and pick up your avatar. oO Fanboy, hater, hippy, gangster, lover or brawler, this game is F'n beautiful. For many reasons, then you add sound. No surprise it draws the attention of many different tastes, and challenges even those blinded by faith to use thier heads. GG Anet. Hopefully you give devs from all genres incentive to step outside the box.

Tera indeed has superior graphics, but certainly not aesthetics. Unless your only graphical references have been mangas for the last decades. ***** Before hitting that reply button, please READ the WHOLE thread you're about to post in ***** |

Originally posted by Phunkystuff Aye, they handle depth of field very well in GW2. You can just try and turn it off in the settings, and suddenly the game looks "flat" like most other MMORPGs (including... Tera =P), but you turn DoF on, and suddenly you are immersed in the world even more. |

Originally posted by Amjoco place that agians the aoc one in this thread.. arguement over... in raw textures quality i agree aoc on max looks pretty darn good ... as for the GRAPHICS, you know the visual representation of the game, it falls behind. Only tera really approches from the games i have played. Good video and I have to agree, the production quality of GW2 is much higher than most other MMOs. |

I would definitely not say it has the best graphics in a game, but I like the look and feel of the world alot, makes me want to explore it. However the animations I just can't stand. They just look off, especially running. But meh, I care more about a visually inviting world than animations. |

i loved AoC and i admit i never have it on full graphics at release but later the game improved in performance greatly, i liked tera the characters are quite pretty and original...kinda way too slutty but its nice to see some flesh once in a while
having sayed that...i still think (i played tera and aoc but not gw2) that for the videos posted here and countless other vides i seen before and my personal point of view guild wars wins in graphics....but im not an expert AoC have awesome reflects and light effects decent sounds but not quite good performance also maybe its the barbaric feeling but everything looks kinda crappy i loved the game and the world but the buldings and character clothes even the mobs arent all that awesome/nice looking IMO, u may say im looking for elves in a game full of barbarie...but i didnt wanted too much fantasy just maybe something different of what i seen on AoC...i admit thats art style and not graphics but even if shines still its shit TERA was great, nice world , decent performance some eye candy (maybe a lil too much as see a elf dancing all sluty as cast a spell its just dumb) but i felt the game was similar to aion too much detail on the characters and not the same in the enviroment still much better than aion imo, aion didnt even deserve a mention guild wars 2 seems to have all the package and im talking only from beta videos half the fans say it will improve more in graphics and performance, gw2 have awesome and breathtaking enviroments nice looking avatars some even call the female characters barbie dolls :P and a unique and stylised skill efects in tera and aion u see lots of sparkly skills but in gw2 they actually look more diferent just looking at the necromancer guardian and the mesmer skills leaves u that feeling also i know sounds dont count as graphics but u should watch this video (i apologise if someone posted it already but i didnt really read all those pages :P) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbWn6740JOg also i love that guy thick accent hehe thats my humble opinion
sorry for my english and if someone read this far thx for ur attention

If you're into furry... awesome graphics with little sexy raccoons and pandas is still a NO in my book. |

Maybe its because i have a really good computer, but im actually not so thrilled about GW2 graphics. For a 2012 game i expected it to be better, or maybe im just really focusing on the character/race such as movement/details. However, as a wise Arenanet dev from GW2 told me, Gameplay > Graphics. |

Well, I am not going to judge GW2 against any MMO that is released, I will do that once the game comes out August 25th (28th). What I do know is that the graphics I have seen are atmospherically excellent. They help the experience, just like how WoW's graphics, although terrible in present standards, help along its atmosphere. Anyone looking for Crysis 3 grade graphics in an MMO is being absurd. Any smart dev would not handcuff themselves by making an MMO specifically for the highest 10% of gamers, when their key reason for their graphics is atmosphere. And, just to be honest. Compare the most recent MMO to come out with GW2. TSW graphics are HORRID compared to GW2...blocky textures, finding yourself halfway inside objects constantly, etc (i say this, because in GW2 you actually stand on objects in poses that one would, not standing straight up the same way no matter what type of terrain you are standing on) and I could go on with the lower level graphics that TSW has. But, all that said, TSW's atmosphere outweighs the lower grade graphics, so much so that you dont notice them all to often in gameplay. |
