Originally posted by Chrome1980 But again, that is incorrect depending on the comparisons being made. If someone is comparing TSW to GW2s setting...then they shouldnt be doing it, one is high fantasy and the other is futuristic. You CAN however correctly compare combat styles, quest types...animations, PvP, crafting...grouping...raids...instances...boss fights. They are similar MMORPGs in those instances and those comparisions can be done unbiasedly. To say that you cannot compare the 2 games in away is a falsehood. And no, he quoted me, so he was replying to what I said. “I hope we shall crush...in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country." ~Thomes Jefferson |

Originally posted by jtcgs Please read and go back to first post from where the argument regarding bias started. Combat styles in TSW and GW2 are not based on same settings, PVP crafting , raids etc are staple of themepark MMOS but that still doesn't make it a very valid comparison. Other than animations and PVP (even PVP is vastly different in GW2) there are no valid comparisons between the two games. GW2 is largely based on dynamic events and focuses heavily on 3 sided PVP where as TSW is about following storyline and is more quest / exploration heavy. PVP is not in beta yet so hard to say what direction it will take..all we know is that it is 3 faction pvp. You are still comparing apples to oranges. |

Agreed 100%, I've taken the opportunity to play around with different builds and to see what happens when you repeat the quests, on that score it's good that it provides plenty of AP and SP so you can try different builds, BUT it shows up what my biggest fear is - the game lacks replayability which will impact its longevity. The stories are great but how many times can you cope with replaying them? Three character slots seems right to me, I can't see me being entertained past three runs through, I might feel differently after getting a character much further through and then returning to earlier story content, right now though it's been only a week and I'm repeating the same content through want of something to do. It's not a great way to promote the game, if they added the group instance then I'd be happily playing through that instead of being here posting about how worried I am about longevity. |

Originally posted by Chrome1980 BS. 1. I am talking about bias in context. 2. You CAN compare TSW and GW2 PvP, Crafting, raids. One game being futuristic does not mean it cannot be compared to a fantasy game as long as the combat is similar. Neither game is "action combat", neither game is "turn base" One is not flight/space combat. They are both based on typical MMO combat aspects. This allows anyone playing either game to base their opinions on previous MMORPG experience to locate what they like or dont like about either game. PvP is the same. Crafting..crafting is crafting and is not based on the type of MMO it is. You could compare Tabla Rasa's crafting to any other MMORPGs by its depth and item variety. It doesnt matter that you are crafting a gun in that game and a sword in another. How many materials does the game use? How hard is it to get them? Can you make a wide variety? is it fun or a PITA? Do they compare to loot items? Worth selling to players? The comparison is valid. And anyone...anyone that remotely likes PvPing in MMORPGs would laugh at the vary idea that you think you cannot compare PvP between MMORPGs or that somehow TSW is so different that its PvP would be an apply to GW2s Orange...no, PvP in EvE would be the apple, it is a flight based game. “I hope we shall crush...in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country." ~Thomes Jefferson |

Originally posted by mairic Well i am sorry you have such a bad experience but i have to defend a little .. This is not the game. This is some parts of the game but even the complete socialstuff like guild and group and buddy related tools as well as team quests or elite encounters are still - not in. That is, because you seemly have entered a incomplete software for the first time at all. While a lot of companies using their beta tests to advertise their nearly done products that just leak some poilsh, Funcom seems to really test betasoftware.
Now, i also have to metion, that i saw someone yesterday, looking for the entrance of Agartha and couldnt find it. This game needs a bit of intelligence, to "get in". By the obvious, that you have not seen any social tools and guessing, that is it, then this game is propably not for you. |

So played a few more hours today. Started a new character and played a lot farther than i did last night. Used different weapons and had a different experience. Fist Weapons are cool. I teamed it up with Chaos Magic, and it didnt really work for me. So i stopped using Chaos and focused on Fist. Unlocked all the fist skills in the first two skill areas. Played around with it and enjoyed the combat today. Turning is still Hella Slow though. Which is my only real complaint with the combat in this game. Quests were mind numbing though. The majority of them did not require thought of any sorts. Just run to where the waypoint points and either click or kill something. I hope that later on in the game it gets into more of the puzzles and what not. Biggest complaint of all today though is my inventory would not close lol. The icons in this game take some getting used to but different is not a bad thing. Like i said earlier this game could be around for a good while if Funcom delivers on what they have promised. Fixing the animations, the bugs, and polish in general. |

Originally posted by Callin a lot of people here are over hyping the quests.. some of them are pretty interesting and the story is also pretty interesting but the majority are basic run of the mill quests and some have way to many tiers which consist of kill x on every tier which I really didn't enjoy. Either way the setting works for me and I enjoy it overall, i also enjoy the fist very much and plan on going fist at launch which is why im hammer/shotgun now just to keep it fresh for launch. Not sure what your issue with the inventory was.. you know those are keybound as well right? I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg |

The reasons why I'm not playing the 2nd beta is because Diablo 3 came out and it's freaking awesome and everything you do in TSW before launch is just spoilers for the real thing. I tend to play classes that I won't play at the release for betas but in TSW you don't have any of those :o |

Originally posted by Aerowyn Yea i know. I know how to close it but when i did the outside of the inventory closed but the items and boxes stayed on the screen. I could move it around just like the actual inventory was open. This persisted through logging off and back on lol. It was just the oddest bug i have ever had. |

Originally posted by jtcgs Like i said earlier the only similarity in PVP between TSW and GW2 is that they are both based on 3 faction like DAOC. Other than that they are nothing similar. But people like you who are too desperate to find connections will continue to grasp at straws. Like i said comparing every single MMO to GW2 and then declaring GW2 is better every time clearly shows the bias and i doubt anyone is going to be fooled by it anymore. |

Maybe, just maybe I could play more than 1 min, and get used to the weird animations and dead city. But I think what puts me of in this game, is 1. Sub + cash shop, it's just horrible. 2. You can buy lifetime sub. This game screams of desperation. We want as much cash as possible, before most people leave. Why on earth does this game need a sub + cash shop?

Originally posted by Thodra my guess they know this game isn't going to appeal to the masses and are looking for whatever extra ways to get extra revenue.. pretty sure from what i saw cash shop is mostly just clothes so I don't see the big deal with it. I dunno. Sub + cash shop is pretty slimey. Even if it is only aesthetics. Why couldn't I earn those items in game... maybe you can? It gives off a bad impression, though.
