I trust metacritic as ONE source out of many that I collect for an "overall" view to confirm my own opinions. Pretty much, metacritic == spot on in this particular case.

Oh that ... :D haha, yeah I've been a part of that flame horde as well... There was a thread on the official forums when the servers were "busy" (read overcrowded and you couldn't login properly and it was giving all sorts of errors at the login) which gave a link to metacritic user review and we just gave like 1s and 0s since they didn't gave us any proper "Blue" response on the official forums on some kind of ETA. :D

Too bad no one looks at user reviews and is going to buy the game anyways. Blizzard makes good games so they get good press reviews, they are also highly popular so they will naturally recieve alot of hate so when the opportunity arises for people to troll an entire community of loyal fans (metacritc scores) it will be done. The game will still sell millions of copies, come out with an expansion or two, and make Blizzard lots of money...guess people just like spending money on Blizzard games. I wonder why....

I fully accept that this is entertaining for some people - though I fail to understand how it can be, but I think its utterly annoying that every bloody game with a decent budget is aimed at these peope. Even games in series that used to be above decent - Like Diablo.

Damn, I am glad I didnt support Blizzard by buying this game. First they ruin the MMORPG-genre by reducing WoW to a nobrain-actiongame (which is copied by all other semi-large companies) and now the Action-RPG genre is reduced to simple action aswell. They deserve nothing but being mocked.

I for one believe that usability of a product should be one of the big points in the rating what good does it do to buy a fancy looking product i cant use?

We all were taught a lesson from Blizzard this time.

We already knew that Launch days for MMORPGs are messy (even tho lately even that seems to become less and less an issue)and we will have to fight with many probs but now we know that not only MMORPG launches are terrible but Blizzard launches in general are also just terrible.

So we should all remember that next time Blizzard releases a game and just wait a bit before buying it so that Blizzard gets enough time to make there product work.

I just hope that it does not become the new standard now to NOT be able to use your products on release day tho

A well made pizza is not crap just because it's not by your taste.

Game does not try to revolutionarize anything. But it still is amazing fun to play, really addictive and all in all very well done for what it is.

And about Metacritic I only have one word. Who?

It will sell millions and millions, and millions and millions will love it.

Even if it got 0.0/10 on metacritic.

it is crap when you order a pizza, then when it gets there you cant eat it, and whjen you can eat it, you have to go to the pizzaria every time you want to take a bite.

My review:

If you were born around 1970-1986 you probably played Diablo I & Diablo II, you are getting close to 10/10 experience, lets say 9.5/10

If you were born around 1987-2000 you probably havent played Diablo I, most likely Diablo II, unless you were long time into games and appreciate old games (Fallout 2 blows Fallout 3 out of the water if you didn't know) you probably get initial 6-8/10 raiting experience.

If you don't appreciate this genre, you are getting 2/10.

Server issue is temporary issue thx god.. but I agree its a big fockup from Blizzard...well shit happends :)

Because they see the name blizzard attached to it, they would buy any crap from them, fact, dosnt have to be good, and apparently doesnt even have to work.

Metacritic scores arent the be all and end all, but it can't be ignored because it doesnt conform to your own preferences, especially when you take into account the metacritic scores that games normally have at this stage, i think its pretty clear that there are issues with the game, and its not looking good, after all, its a single player game that you can't play offline, and if theres a problem with the server - which there has been, no amount of apologising by Blizzard is going to improve things, and thats before you even get to the whole cash driven auction house thing.. which is more than enough on its own to red flag the whole game.

so while i don't expect the game to ever get a 0.0 metacritic score.. it has definitely earned the low score it has, and i definitely don't see it selling millions, nor do i think millions will love it..  this isnt a game that will be fixed with a few patches.

I think you are wrong. now, I havn't played the game myself since I boycot it due to the RMTAH but Diablo 3 can suck donkeyb@lls and still sell millions. What that would affect is the sale of expansions and Diablo 4, not Diablo3. Blizzard have many millions of fans that buy anything with their name on, Blizzard needs to dissapoint those fans for them to stop buying their games.

Reviews don't really matter for a fan of a company, only bad experience does which will turn you away from being a fan.

As I said, I am not saying D3 is so bad, or even bad at all. Don't know, don't care.

1976, played D1 and D2 (as well as TQ and some others) and love the arpg genre, just not this game. I was really hoping on more depth and choice to typical hack and slash gameplay, but to me it seems it's only more simplified.

It's a rating system. People will abuse it. Just like with Bioware games or other it's-cool-to-hate. Diablo 3 is obviously not a 3.6 game. Anyone who has tried an actual horrible game knows this. There are PC games being released that are extremely poor and almost unplayable. Big Riggs woop woop!

And the bad user reviews cannot come in fast enough. I was fortunate enough to beta test the game before launch and was left completly unimpressed. I am noticing the reviews are reflecting what my beta input stated. The vast majority of Diablo fans from the 90's and early 00's are online playing, enjoying their game. Meta-critics scores are the result of peoples inability to display any amount of patience on launch day. I was reading comments on the Diablo 3 Facebook page from grown men and women QQ'ing like they just crawled out of the cradle. Quite frankly, it's embarassing. You all need to grow up. Enjoy the game, and if you don't like it, then fine - but keep your hyperbolic negativity to yourselves.

What difficulty level are you on? If on normal, yes it is simple and dumbed down to allow people new to ARPG to get their feet wet. If you think it's simple on hell hardcore then I bow down to you.
