This 1 minute video I made was a quick look at the beauty and detail of Guild Wars 2 graphics.  I don't even understand how the graphics can be so good in GW2 when it is not yet set for multi-threading or multi-core natively, and is not optimized for GPUs.  GW2 is running on one core of my quad-core AMD CPU.  I am blown away thinking about how much room for improvement the game has given how stunning it looks already.  I talk over the vid, and you can hear my excitement for the graphics of GW2, and my boredom with WoW graphics.  As a years long Warhammer player I am proud to see the genre incorporating all the important aspects (PvE, PvP, imagery) into one big title game.  We are closer to perfection now.

Those are good aesthetics not good graphics, for good graphics look for AOC.

I loved the art style in WoW, and in FFXI... I don't care for the realistic look either.

Tera has better graphics than GW2. Far better.

The graphics are good but not even close to the best I've seen.

FFXIV, TERA, and AOC all have far superior graphics. Gameplay in GW2 is pretty fun though, the combat isn't my favorite but maybe i'll learn to like it.

have you played ffxiv on max settings?  makes you wonder what 2.0 is going to look like.

Nice OP... i agree, it's pretty sweet huh.

Here's a nice look at some high res gw2 gameplay. Granted, yeah they're the skills videos we've all seen, but take a look again now with everything we've learned over the past few months.

These may not be the best graphics, could use a slight bit of unreal engine gore in the hits imo, but they sure aren't bad graphics by a long shot......lol.

How many games have we played that don't have a need for CG cutscenes for advertisement? Not many

Plus it's been in the design philosophy from the start to make it playable on older PC's. Not optomized yet, and some people are runnin it on some sorta old systems already.

For those that wanna hate on gw2, that's fine, they can play what they like.

I'll be in the game in this video having a blast, .............and still be able to play other fun games, ....and enjoy the sun(.......if I can turn gw2 off).

IM sorry, age of conan still reigns supreme in my book.

for me this are the best MMORPG in terms of graphics:

-  FF 14 (no doubt is the best here)

- Tera ( awesome graphics of world but characters are a crap in terms of art style)

- Guild Wars 2 ( graphics arent in max on betas)

- Age of Conan 

- LOTRO (great graphics almost as good as AoC)

I had to refresh my memory about what tera looks like, Yes they are ok graphics but it lacks foliage. And just because it has a good skybox doesn't mean that the graphics are fantastic.

^ for sure, still makes me wish it would have had a better release. I'm one of the many that got burned, even bought the CE.

Seems like graphics should be better by miles in this day and age with all games, considering the hardware people are running.

So as a matter of discussion, you have personally seen the graphics fully optimised? 

I would say that GW2 has better graphics than any other mmorpg except AoC and TERA.  AoC and GW2 both have excellent art direction while TERA (in my opinion) fails in the art direction due to goofy asian stuff.
