Originally posted by gessekai332 Installed yesterday evening, logged in this morning at 3:30AM, no queue and only my insomnia friend online, playing his Witchdoctor. The US will be screwed I believe, at least for today. But let's be real, it's not worth it to reserve extra resources just for the initial login. It will only happen now (and perhaps after the release of an expansion), because normally people login and -out all the time. More spread out. Now it's just one huge wave of logins, which slows down the whole process. People need to be patient, because in the end, you can whine all you want, but it wont help you getting in faster. |

Blizzard releases are always like this. Even expansions. They obviously don't care. And it won't be an issue once everyone isn't trying to log in simultaneously. The best solution is for everyone to wait ten minutes between log attempts. That way we spread out the load on the authentication server, and we can all get in sooner. "There are two great powers, and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit." — John Parry, to his son Will; "The Subtle Knife," by Phillip Pullman |

Everyone should have expected this, I certainly did, especially after it just happened to asian and EU servers... Get some patience and lose the self entitlement. Technology is limited. There are probably a couple million trying to log in right now. |

All the haters need to STFU!!! Blizzard knew exactly what they were getting into. They know what the hell they are dong. Give them some f'in credit. If you can't handle that, turn your copy back in and get your money back. Plain and simple. Don't buy a copy of a game then whine and moan that you can't play it the minute the online servers go live. It doesn't work that way. D3 was a WORLDWIDE SIMUELTANEOUS RELEASE!!! This means in ALL the markets that Blizz operates have access to the servers. Any server that is allocated to the game is going to see hundred of thousands of users logging on at once. Server busy errors are going to happen. DEAL WITH IT!!! This was a very highly anticipated game and they wanted enjoyment for all, instead of doing staggered releases for it. It wouldn't be fair for one country to be able to play it first, especially with a game as huge as D3. As far as load balancing the servers, to be able to balance something, you have to find out the extremes. In the article, Blizz was calling for login delays to control the flow. If the servers crashed at launch, D3 would be DOA and Blizz would have a huge amount of egg on the face, a major quarterly loss, followed my mass layoffs. A lot of us gamers are currently unemployed. I myself have been without a job since last Nov. On my system, I have no shortage of alternate games I can play. I'll wait a few days for them to get the kinks out. Launch day is just asking too much. (For any of those I have offended, grow a backbone will ya!)

This game is so hardcore that the first level is a frantic battle past the hoards of zombie hamsters killed by the falling star. You don't have a lot of options, but if you keep spamming password, login, ok, you get to another room with create and back. If you press back, you suffer permadeath and have to start over, otherwise you have to face the guantlet of evil 3006 and 3000008 wraiths. I haven't seen the level after that, but it's a pretty challenging game so far! ( ok,ok, I'm not disagreeing with the OP, I'm just making the best lemonaide I can out of it, knowing that in a few hours/days, once the initial crush passes by, all tonight's disappointments will likely be forgotten and forgiven anyway )

I'm surprised they didn't have some type of rolling starts based on time zones.. |
