It wasn't that he needed help. It was in the way he asked for it. If he had asked in a well thought out manner instead of ranting he might get some answers.

This is not the final product, its not right to say its the "worst X ever" if its not a finished product. For all we know there might be a fix my installation feature on release. You should be mad at your browser for crashing you. And you might just have to redownload everything again. I know its not what you want, BUT ITS NOT A FINISHED PRODUCT.

Excuse me.  I was really nice.  I told him what to do and even told him how sorry I was that he was having trouble.  Don't paint the whole community with one brush.   I know I'm usually snarky and snide, but I wasn't with this, so....I want credit damnit! ;)

Elikal, are you sure its ignoring the previous download? Some people had similar difficulties as to what you relating with the previous BWE and the launcher wasnt starting from the beginning, it  just seemed to. They had a way to check it, but i cant remember how. Im pretty sure i read about it in Gw2 guru forums

Delete everything you've done so far; the .exe, the .dat, any text files, the .tmp (in other words EVERYTHING in the place you are trying to install the game). Delete the first file you downloaded as well to start the install.

Restart your computer.

Then, you need to make sure you save the install file you get from the official forums into the folder you want to install the game and run it from there.

It should work fine.

I get that you want it ready for the start of this stress test but it's obviously messed up because you started the install wrong the first time. This stress test is gunna be chaos anyway, as intended, to start with so you won't be missing much.

my guess is you keep hitting the download button if so yes it will start over. it downloads to your temp file and file is hidden i just moved mine and put it where i wanted it but it is C/users/whateveryourpcnameis/appdata/local/temp and file is named
temp_GW2.zip open the first one cause it sounds like you have sevral of them and move the folder somewhere you can find it easier click on the gw2 exe and it should pick up where it left off

The install directions say ( i think, been a few weeks since I installed ) to place the .exe file in a folder on desktop and run from there. May be a little strange to do as most games just let you pick an install folder and go.

You probably dont have the .exe file and .dat file in the same folder. Try placing every file into a GW2 folder on desktop and launch using the .exe.

See if that helps.

I hope it works but honestly next time read the install directions for a beta client, might save you some grief.

Most Launcher's in Beta are horrible.

All I did was drag the EXE icon on my desktop. And that worked perfectly fine for me. I never bother reading directions because I'm to damn impatient. :P

"Copy the executable file from the location where you downloaded it, typically your Downloads folder, to the folder on your computer where you wish to install the game. . The folder where you place the executable file is the folder the game will use to download and store its data."

if you don't do that the game gets installed into a temporary system folder which will be typical emptied when someone restarts the computer.

Are you launching from the .exe file in that folder? If you are then let it run for awhile, if I remember correctly GW2 will show 0% when in fact its just applying an update or missing files.

When it installed on my pc it went to temp download folder. I created a GW2 folder on my desk top and moved the GW2.dat, GW2.exe, and GW2.tmp to it.

I think you have the client it just trying to update and your seeing it as installing the whole client again. Launch from the .exe in that folder and let it run, its trying to update not install the entire client again.

The 0% should be the progress of the update, not the entire client again.

Which if this is the case and you actually did come here raging for nothing I really dont expect a response o.O, But good luck anyways man. In the future read and follow the intructions, in the email you got from ANet it stated them or at least where to go to get the directions.

Well, then why are you offended?  If it wasn't directed at you then don't take it like it was.

You must agree that most of these posters here though are spewing a lot of venom out at our poor OP here.
