I am just fuming here. In years of MMO gaming I never seen such a bad Launcher. You see, I was so eager to see today's beta, so I started to download the client yesterday, knowing my slow DSL would be finished today. It had already irritated me the installation via the launcher didn't even ask me what directory I wanted to install the game in and only by default went into the EXE directory. No options at all.

Now a short time ago, my browswer crashed the computer. Now NORMALLY you would expect, a launcher had something like a "repair" button, or "check files" where the launcher checks what is there and continues at that point.

Not so here!

I started the GW2.exe several times, but EVERY time he starts again with the full 185.000 files. Totally ignoring the 13GB large .dat file.

So I can screw going into today's beta. Sorry, but this is the DAMN WORST launcher I have ever seen. NOT a good first impression.

This is extremely easy to troll but I won't. I will say this... learn to follow directions.

Did you read the forum post on how to install the game? that would of been useful. 

Do you remember Mortal Online's launcher?

The .dat file needs to be in the same file with the .exe.  I made a folder on my desktop and dragged them both into it before starting the .exe.  If you had read the instructions on the forum post (I believe) regarding "Getting Started" you would have read how to do this. 

Sorry you're having a hard time of it. :(   I'm also sorry you have DSL, or I'd say delete it and start over the right way, but that seems futile knowing the fact that the d/l would be so slow.  I'm really sorry.

Dude... it's a beta client. It's not running off of the registry yet. Chill. And if you want a good impression, you probably shouldn't play today, period. It's a stress test. There's going to be a ton of lag and disconnects.

as anet has said at the first beta there is no real launcher yet and how to instal it can be looked up on the pre purchase forum :)

 Did you move the Gw2.exe from the folder containing  : Gw2.tmp and Gw2.dat ?

If you DID ... put it back where you found it, if this was downloaded in firefox place the .exe back in the orginal download containing folder. It should pick up where it left off the first time.

Well, it is beta, right?  The instructions given with the launcher tell you to unzip the gw2.exe file into the directory you it installed in.  I can understand your irritation, but they explained how it works, sorry bud. 

I haven't had the issues you're experiencing with the launcher.  Mine appears to do a file check and only download what's missing.   Did you check the support forums?  Their forums, from my experience, have been very helpful.

Installed on 5 seperate computers with no issues and I did not read any instructions but then again I keep all my drivers and windows patched up to the latest updates.

Are you 100% sure you meet the min reqs?

Are you 100% sure your user account has admin rights and it is not limited by parental controls?

Make sure the exe is set to run as admin if you think that might be the issue.

Start again with just the setup file or just ignore the 13gig file in the directory and see what happens.

Everyone there just told me "it has to work", "it works for me".

Or like here "it has to be in the same directory as the dat file."

Well thanks, I know that already. It STILL doesn't work.
