I was curious about the game but after playing it for 2 hours I've uninstalled it and moved on. Combat - boring and not fun Quests - aside of story-telling mode aka SWTOR - boring and not fun Atmosphere - boring and not fun (how long people will keep create zombies? I thought nobody cares about zombies any longer, but no, lets make another MMO with zombies...) Lasting value - zip (I've played 2 hours and uninstalled it) One of the most boring games I've tried so far. Even TERA is more fun. Secret World lacks big time in something that would keep subscriptions rolling. A lot of people will cancel after first 1-2 months. FALLEN EARTH - years old game of similar setup is more fun. Wish people would stop making MMOs with old boring mechanics and pretend that their game is better than anything out there. Skill system? Yeah you can hybrid, but amount of time required to raise your skills will make you SW slave. Funcom did it again. Created another MMO with quest grind routine similar to what AoC was in the beginning. I think SW should just release as F2P, they'll make more money on selling things in a cash store. Moving on. |

You played 2 hours, in a starting zone for one of three factions. Yet just from that you can tell that people will cancel within 1-2 months after launch? Well hello Ms Cleo, your crystal balls seems to be malfunctioning. |

i will only reply to your last one tho, the rest seems to be trolling anyway ^^
hybrid: did it from minute 1. took me ages to go there, seriously, had to go through 2 whole dialoges and a training session with cpt templar. no idea where your opinion comes from, but i'd say you didn't understand it dude ^^
get a starter weapon from the intro quest, buy a 2nd weapon as soon you arive in kingsmouth and BAM; you are set for your hybrid. in my case it was a dd with tanking abilities and heal. what else should be more hybrid....
uh, and fallen earth didnt even last an hour after i logged in for the first (and last) time. "I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!" |

Originally posted by reanor I had a lot more fun with TSW than I did with TERA, I guess it's just a matter of taste. I found the quests better than most mmos, especially the investigation ones (did you get try those out? You would have known if you did)... I spend hours trying to figure out some of them. I played TSW beta to the end of all the avaiable quests in the beta weekend and I was left wanting more more... in TERA I wish there were less, it's poor. The only mmo with more varied and interesting quests, to me, is.. well none in my opinion. MMOs will always have kill quests but not having all your objective location handed to you and actually having to make you think is something from the dark ages of mmos (like Asheron's Call where there were no journals wotsoever). The zombie area is only one zone in the game, the other zones have completely different themes. I really enjoyed the zombie theme though and the astmosphere for the whole game, I found it very immersive. \but I just love the zombie thing in general. There are plenty problems I have with the game. The combat system IS pants, as are the animations. The skill system actually started to piss me off a bit the more I played. TOO many skills and too little skill slots, it works for GW but you had a team of heroes there so you could utilise more of your fav skills with them. |

Originally posted by reanor This MMO is not for you, sorry but you seem to be looking for a race t the end, sword and elf, without any thing that is hard. I say this becouse after only 2 hours you gave up. You did not put any points or facts or examples of what you did or where the issues you see are. This is typical of someone that had no intent (consciously or un-consciously) of giving a MMORPG a chance. Your hart is in some other game (maybe SWTOR), I hope you find what you like.

Your title made it seem like I was goon to get a well reasoned explanation from someone who didn't like the game.
I would have liked to read something like that because I still have some doubts about this game, but instead I got an argument that didn't make much sense and poorly expressed your views. I would appreciate if some of the people that don't like a game could express themselves properly and clearly. Define what it is you don't like and more importantly why you don't like it. Give us details. Use proper grammar. Explain what you are looking for in a game so like minded individuals can assign value to your views. Explain how the systems work in other games if you are going to make comparisons. Your "review" was poorly written and of little value. It contained little to no actual information. I am not defending the game here, I just wish that some of the people that like to bash games around here would do so in a way that is valuable to other users. You could save someone who thinks the same as you from buying a game they would hate, but instead you just want to rant incoherently. To quote your redundant and over used line from your post, this review was "boring and not fun." Originally posted by Vannor Looking through the decks, I think that the longer you play you'll be replacing those early skills/abilities in the first tier with others in the higher tiers. With all of those being locked, you didn't have the opportunity to work towards opening those up. If you clicked on the deck, you could read the description of the ability at the bottom of the left hand column. Still, it does it make it challenging deciding on which abilities to equip. |

Originally posted by reanor So let me get this straight, you played a game for roughly two hours and you can asume that the whole of the game is utter garbage? What are you smoking! The quests not fun and similar to SWTOR? You sir did NOT play the game, I've been playing the game all weekend non stop, played every single quests I found, yes found, most of the quests out in the area of Kingsmouth you have to find, which could be a dead person , item, ect ect. Anyhow, got through all the quests and Teir 8 of the main story quests and just loved the game, Yes the combat could use work but you know what? It works, the more abilities you get , the better your character gets, everything works. There are afew quests in the kingsmouth area that you can to research either A: Online or B: through books, I.E. The bible ect. It just seems like to me you are here just to troll and get arise out of people who actualy enjoy the game. I will say that this game won't appeal to everyone because you actualy have to think about certain things even in how you attack mobs. so the bottom line is:
Combat-Fun and exciting ( At higher levels of skill ) Also could use some work on the lower end Quests- Amazing and well detailed ( Real world history, myths legends come to life, whats better then that ? Try trolling that mr troll LOL ) Atmosphere-fantastic, much like Left 4 Dead , supernatural and resident evil ( kingsmouth area ) Lasting appeal/vaule? From a veteran MMO player( Madden UO and EQ , and all the rest up till Tera) I will be subscribed for a VERY long time. This game brings back and challenge that has long since passed and had been forgotten, it's nice to use your brain in completing quests again!!!!
Long story short, Any of you that are on the fence, if you like Supernatural/Da Vinci code ect, you'll like TSW and if your a veteran MMORPG gamer you'll like the challange that this game offers, I could go on and on but I won't, it's a great game and it's worth picking up, don't listen to these other guys who " Claim" they have played it because clearly, they have'nt, they will stick to their candy ass games Like WoW , and thats fine, but just don't listen to them, they know nothing about what a true MMORPG Truly is!

This game needs to be approached with an open mind and patience, it’s not instant gratification for a broad audience like GW2 for e.g.
It took me a long time to get into it, but I slowly began to understand what Ragnar and Co have done, it is a puzzle adventure mmo that makes you focus on each mission and that makes each activity have far more meaning than in ANY other mmo, this is a work of (flawed) genius.
Also the community is incredible, the entire time I played, which was for 15 hrs per day for the entire event, we got 1 troll in general chat, who didn’t understand the difference between lvls and skills, and that was it. Every other person, from beginning to the very end was helpful, friendly, mature, and where clearly those that got through the filter, and “got” it. Best general chat I have ever seen, an amazing contrast with TERA’s.
Combat and animation needs work, no disagreement there, but as I actually gave a damn about what I was doing, I was more invested than with TERA, even though I much prefer that games combat, now if only they could have a baby...

I played it for half an hour at best. I don't know if it's on my side, but I didn't know what to do after spawning in an multiplayer area directly after the opening cinematic. I spent that time aimlessly running around trying to find any quests or any guidance/direction I should take. Wow, it felt like some bad f2p title in the early days of the genre. Maybe I will give it another try sometime, but the first impression was bad. |

Originally posted by bcbully I don't get either of these comments. You get a quest that tells you exactly where to go with markers and everything so...yeah... Now there are some later on in that game that involve figuring things out on your own but the beginning is pretty much hand held to the max. As it should be for beginners since not everyone that plays may be experienced in mmos. 1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |
