Yeah I like the story, the setting, the voice acting (mostly).
But the character models and animation feel 10 years old. I think TERA's beauty may have spoilt this game for me.

The development of the Secret World was confirmed on March 6, 2007. However, they most likely began development much earlier than the confirmed date.

I don't get why beatifully crafted models should be exclusive to 10 year old kids (?)

Originally posted by Candomble I'll take GW2 over both, thanks. In everything, mind you. But I definitely agree that character models and especially animations in TSW are awful, sadly. Founder, CEO & Editor in Chief of Worlds Factory, a brand new videogame and entertainment online publication. |

Sure animations aint the best but character models are nice but whats even better is the world graphics.. bloody awesome dont think i have seen a MMORPG that uses tesselation as well as this game :) they blast everything out of the warter technically.. No if you prefer the art style in Tera or GW2 then thats your choice but technicall the TSW engine is doing an awesome job.. Now dont get me wrong Tera uses the unreal engine and its also just as capable and even has more features available than the one TSW uses but for some reason the devs for Tera did not decide to use those nice features LOL so all you get is flat textures same with GW2..

Well, I don't know much about this technical stuff, but I do know what I see and TERA and GW2 are pure eye-candy. TSW is more along the lines of eye-sore.

Asura remember me of gremlins. Not to mention the asian style that I hate. Are they well done? To me it seems so, but not my cup of tea, at all. So I do prefer this "dated" (as you call them) models. |

Tera is nice eye candy but still falls short of 2012 expectations. Feels like 2008-2010 which is when it shouldve dropped in order to have time to build a game and playerbase. Dropping after swtor with D3 and gw2 on the horizon was just a bad move. I prefer the art style of gw2 personally even though I admit Tera is far more polished. I can see why they launched I just think they should've launched with the first installment of their end game in the game already.

Originally posted by entityx I absolutely detest Tera's art style. It's so bad that I could not watch gameplay video for more than a couple of secons. What's this with armor covering only boobs and genitalia and women running around on high heels? Pandas, half naked children, etc. Also, I find it funny when every time someone points out that those Elin or whatever they are called are borderline case, someone snaps something like "they are 1000 years old! Read the lore!". Well, maybe that pedo who was sentenced to imprisonment last week had created some lore in his twisted mind too but who cares. Seeing is one of the main senses and and don't have to analyse on meta-stage what I see :) |

You can have VERY nice looking graphics using very old tech,if it doesn't have anything worth looking at then that is the devs fault not the engine. As for Tera i thought it looked below average it definitely is not high quality work. Now i only played Beta and perhaps the release is of higher quality but i doubt it for a few reasons. IDK about GW2,i was so tuirned off by the dev teams BS and GW1 that i would find it hard to pay them anymore money.I found GW1 was of freeware quality, the buildings were 2d very few had insides which is just lazy work all around.I think if GW2 has at least done the average work "expected" and that is to make buildings useable with ionsides then it probably looks decent enough because GW1 textures were nice enough. I used GW2 and Tera as examples becuase i see others talking about those two being they are the most recent. IMO what matters most in the graphical department is the quality of the textures used on armor and the partticle and effect quality of the animations. All else can be of average quality and that would be fine ,especially to keep GPU lag down. http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |

Originally posted by entityx Same on you. So in conclusion I don't agree that TSW models are bad looking (could be better, but are more than sufficient to me); I agree that GW2 or Tera have "good looking" models, but I dislike the artstyle. |
