Limiting quests just seems like a step backwards from even 10 years ago with EQ1 and DAOC.
I guess the idea is to stop people from getting a massive journal, but its just added pointless tedium for the player.
If I find a quest in the middle of nowhere I have to either drop a quest and hope I remember where it was or take it and lose a quest im on that I will have to go back and resstart.
Very dumb idea. |

the idea is to let the player explore and discover with out guiding them. that's why they drop you off in Kingsmouth with the weapon of your choice and say "see ya later". |

Great. So you can stick a waypoint out in the middle of nowhere where you come across a quest from a corpse to remind you to spend 15 minutes running back and fighting through the zombie horde to pick it up later. To me the exploration comes in in finding some of these obscurely located quests in the first place. I'm glad so many people here like it -- because it's obviously targeting your tastes -- but forcing the player to spend additional hours in a zone chasing down stray quests that could have been completed with other quests if not for the quest system is -- for me -- unnecessary tedium in zones that seem likely to be big enough and exploration-worthy already.
And that's coming from somebody who had all the Loremaster and Explorer achievements through WotLK in WoW. I don't dislike quest grinding, but this almost punishes players who want to explore and do all the quests in the area by not just adding the additional quest time to their time spent in the zone, but the travel time back and forth and back and forth, etc. as well. |

theres no levels. you can leave that zone when you damn well please. you get xp towards AP and SP for everything you do in the game. you could gain AP and SP by crafting if you wanted. no one is forcing you to do any quests. |

Originally posted by Mexorilla actually this is false. yes there is no levels. but you cant just leave and go anywhere you want because the mobs there will rip your ass in half if you arent a certain rank in skills or gear. try it. start a new guy and run to blue mountain, try to kill the first zombie by the bridge. you die in seconds. Playing: LoL / GW2 |

Believe it or not, but it actually works well once you get used to it. It's not HARD to have a 50 slots quest journal. They have done it this way for a carefully thought out reason. I would hate it if they changed it to what every other game does. Fifty quests, grind your way across the map killing this picking up that... It makes me wonder how I could do it. I'll probably start doing one quest at the time in other games too now, but alas, they were not DESIGNED for it, so I doubt it will work that well.

Yup, to stretch the actual content by multiplying the time you spend running around and killing the same static spawns over and over and over... |

Originally posted by Amegashie I felt the same. On the other hand I really explored the city. I now rememeber even street's names and where I can find a cafe =P that's kind of cool to get to know the maps so well after only 2 days of playing. And it seems like you need this knowledge if you want to do investigation quests. I guess it will be ok for people who like adventure game. but they should lower the amount of trash mobs on streets imo. |

i think the quest system works well.too many times in mmo's you get overloaded with quests and end up missing a shit load because you forget or just out level the area..well in this game you cant out lvl so no need to hold so many..map markers are great idea and i love the fact they dont hold my hand every step of the way..i do understand its not everyones cup of tea ..but to me this game is a step in the right direction. |

The only reason someone wouldn't like this quest system is if they are impatient and and have been brainwashed into the typical shopping list of quests mentality that every MMO up to now has implemented in us. You must unlearn what you have learned. I'm loving the quest system, once I got a hang of how to use the pause system to my benefit. Each quest by itself requires quite a bit of focus and doesn't leave much room for worrying about other quests on the way. It's more than just killing X of Y mobs, which are there, it's also about catching clues out in the places you are sent to because other quests will need those clues to be solved. Like the Vision quest, perfect example. |

I absolutely LOVE that they don't let you have 30-40 quests like other games. And almost all of them are much much better than any quests I have done so far in any MMO. |

The quest system reminds me of dead island. Having few quests that unlike other games are in chapters can make you go out wandering, waste time and still not finish all quests because it's not spoon feeding you. I remember playing wow having a shit load of quests with a quest finder mod showing me on the map which route I should go to finish them all one after another it was fun for it's time but I never really ever bothered reading what was the point of the quest I just grabbed a bunch and went and finished them all then go in a new quest hub to do the same thing. The exp you get from monsters is high enough to not need to do all quests instantly. I really hope more themepark games take this approach in questing. |

I hate it too, dont know why such limitaion. UI,Icons are ripped off from iOS/Android. Combat feels terrible no impact, playing with hammer makes a single sound all the time. rest is pretty cool. |

Sadly you represent a dissapointingly large number of gamers these days that expect to be spoon fed and nannied through the next pretty theme park planted in front of you. Now take your bat and ball and ask the baby sitter to drive you back to the fluffy magical panda land of WoW. Thank you TSW for making me use my brain ingame again instead of mindlessly grinding ridiculous amounts of meaningless quests wilst spamming macro's in between. |

Instead you seized the opportunity to harass a fellow gamer. Classy. |

I think some people are almost addicted to quests. They want countless markers and arrows and crap flooding their screen. They need to be told what to do at all times and thus they want 50,000 quests in their quest log. Also this zone is not large. Running around the zone a few times and learning the zone isn't a big time sink. What is the massive rush, you have a hot date...every day? This rush rush rush attitude is not gonna work in this game. There is no rush to endgame.
(Sidenote) First MMO that treats people like adults since the old school MMO's. I'm almost thinking about buying this game just for the games attitude toward it's player base (limited hand holding). Finally an MMO that isn't trying to appeal to the faceroll crowd. This may sound elitest but it's true. Gamers who want a small bit of challenge have had to put up with games made for people whom don't like the genre or any difficulty for years and years. |

Everyday i can look for Tom's Body :)
Sadly there aren't alot of options. Secret worlds quest system is horrendous. No, no one wants to load up on quests and do them all, not by default. But Funcom has adopted this old style system for this game, and this old style hub quest system requires you collect all the quests at once else you will waste your free time running back and forth. (this along with death runs are such time wasters). Plus, it has no real ingame sense (like a ton of other things in this game). Why cant i just get that notepad over there and write this all down so i can look for tom and helen and the hardware store and deliver the bullets, it just seems it would be more effiecient? I'm not saying its the only solution, but the best solution i've seen is GW 2. Forget quests, there are things that need to be done, u get points, whatever for doing them, you always do. Deliver bulets, find helena clean the outhouse, there u go choose do what u want. Not happy about that, here are some more things that you could do. If you want actual quests, then I have to go to SWTOR for the best way to actually do chained personal quests like Secret World. This way, I realy never leave the quest hub but I'm technically off on far adventures in an area or the land. Both of these ways work, but Secret world as in just wastes people's personal time. The more i play, the more i realy hope 1. This game is heavily worked on for 3 to 6 months and the release date moved. There's not a ton they need to change, they do need to fine tune a lot of stuff. I still can't get over these graphics. I' havn't seen such horrible boxy car models since GTA3. or 2. This game comes out free to play. |
