I was a bit disappointed with TSW myself. Good concept, nice storytelling and beautiful graphics. But...for me combat was a bit dull, animations somewhat clunky and the whole thing seemed a bit rough around the edges. Questing was quite irritating with quests being paused by other quests and having to go back to the npc that gave it to you so you could unpause and continue. Maybe I'm missing something, but the point of that feature was lost on me and it just drove me nuts. I'm sure it'll get there and be a pretty decent niche MMO, but I didn't find it to be the next big thing. |

I've been playing AO since 2005, I dont think its a bad game at all (well except for crappy graphics and animations)...... AoC didn't impress me at all, and TSW seems to be even worse...... |

I saved myself the aggravation when I logged off after the first 2 quests. Guess I wasn't too far off according to peoples displeasure of the game. Why put myself through the aggravation when I can listen to everyone else complain ? :) |

I LOL'ed at "learnt"... remind me again why I should listen to Jeff Foxworthy? You might be a redneck if you never learnt how to swim cause' yer gene pool is too small. The scary part is one day the world will be run by adults who were never spanked as kids and got trophies just for participating. |

It's really TERRIBLE..... Enough to make you realize it exists in peoples minds only because of hype and marketing..
Also reminds most other people that played their games "Oh yeah, Funcom made those pieces of junk.. What the hell was I even expecting...?!?" |

Originally posted by Kinchyle Yes, it's still going and charging a subscription. But, let's be honest here. The team working on it is miniscule. Progress is limited and slow for still charging a sub. It's on life support with the fabled new engine and rebalance still not finished. How many years ago was the last expansion LoX?
I loved AO for what it started as. I loved the complexity of character design/planning(IP planning, armor, implants, buff items). It was sometimes like a jiggsaw puzzle to get that little edge. I hated what AO became, how we were constantly lied to as customers, terrible QA, complete lack of real support, complete lack of commuication, and the attempted tries to nickle and dime the customer base.
Now, I haven't tried TSW. I don't plan to based on previous FUncom interaction. I won't bash what I don't know though. But, you can't really say AO is "still going" like it's going strong. It's turning in the bare minimum for what they are still charging. "Soon!" does not count as done. |

I did. I learnt myself a lesson. That is, to not listen to folks like the OP and make my own decisions. Funcom has bugs to fix but my overall experience with the game has been a good one. I am looking forward to playing the final game. That said, this game will definately not appeal to everyone. Not that any game would but this one definately has a strong theme some make not like and the puzzle solving may be outside the scope of what many MMO players seek for a game experience. |

ive been stung by the hype bug a few times. mmo's get hyped and they are fun for only a few months ( still worth the money imo for me). now i just wait till for about 6 months after realease for fix's and extra content before trying anything.
and besides..diablo 3 is comming out. stop all the hate guizzz. let it release and see if ya mates are liking it and join them if it is up to YOUR standard of entertainment.

I had gotten into the CB for having been a long time customer of FC's. So I gave TSW a shot. Initially, I hated it. I couldn't stand the game. But I continued to play a bit here and there over the last few days. In all honesty, the game needs some work. No denying that. THe game also doesn't feel at all like an MMO. Kinda like a SPRPG, but not as bad as TOR. But I'll tell you what. AS the game progressed, FC's strength started to show a bit. THe character skills are interesting. they grew on me. So did the story and lore of the game. If you want to play a game to unravel a big long mystery, this game will be fun. If you want a game with evolution in combat and questing, then go play GW2 as that will be better in that game. But TSW will probably do OK. I think it will find it's niche. But I still doubt it will be a runaway sleeper hit.
If the conversation turned "Tit-for-Tat", and I've stopped posting, Consider it your win. |

I new it was funcom, heck this was not even on my watch list. After that trash of AOC they put out I knew never to trust funcom again. Why folks thought this was going to be any different than the last time is beyond me. I say to those who thought hey 3rd time is the charm funcom going to make something good. you should have taken a look at the other steaming piles of junk that funcom put out. I have no empathy for those who are crying about funcom sticking it to them again, they should have known this was coming just by looking at the past performances of funcom.

I haven't tried it , so I can't make a judgement. But it sounds like they always bite off way more than they can chew when designing and money issues force them to release it long before it's ready. |

I've played MMOs since EQ - basically every subscription based game ever released and close to 100 F2Ps. Secret World is the deepest, richest, most satisfy MMO I have played by a lot. The world feels real, quests don't feel like shopping lists, there is a degree of difficulty and complexity in the combat, and you have to think for yourself. I really can't say enough good things about it. The problem a lot are going to have is that they aren't going to give you any kind of accomplishments in the game for free just because you whine on a bulletin board. If you miss MMOs where achievement actually meant something, give The Secret World a try. |
