So I'm playing Tera and at a fairly casual pace and I run into a couple guys on the newbie island trolling for several days straight. I even leave the island and people are saying they are still going at it. Still lvl 3 or so and constantly bashing the game. Not gonna sit here and say Tera is the best game ever, but geez shut up about it already. What's really going on here? I can't imagine any person being that bored that they keep this going for days on end. I could understand trolling while you're playing and just being a douche... but just sitting there doing nothing for days just irritating people.
At what point do GMs just step in and just global mute them? And secondly... are these employees from another company or just massive douche bags+ basement dwellers? |

You have answer your own question with last sentence. I realy dont understand sometimes eather why people feel the need to do this don't play it if you don't like the game let those who enjoy it have fun and enjoy why is that so hard for some is beyond me. If it where other companys who do this then they are TOTAL losers, and will always fail with there own game.

I saw this recently in Uncharted Waters also.Couldn't think of any reason why they would do it other than to be complete ass holes. I mean UWO is no competition to anyone. |

Actually, some believe that rival companies do hire people to 'bash' a game's starting area. It really gets them no where once the game is released. It might change 1-2% of a populations mind, but it doesn't do enough of a dent to be worth it. I wouldn't be shocked if people are hired to come to forums and do the same. Companies do hire people to build hype, why not hire people to destroy others. Played - M59, EQOA, EQ, EQ2, PS, SWG[Favorite], DAoC, UO, RS, MXO, CoH/CoV, TR, FFXI, FoM, WoW, Eve, Rift, SWTOR, TSW. |

Let me just say I don't play Terra but did do two days testing a few months ago. I noticed on noobie island one guy on both days just sitting there spamming the following for the entire time I played. "WOW FAIL AOC FAIL WAR FAIL AION FAIL TERRA FAIL" That is either total troll comitment or one very pissed off hombre. |

It's more entertaining to start an argument than play a game. Thought you all knew this by now... Writer / Musician / Game Designer Now Playing: Skyrim, Wurm Online, Tropico 4 |

i blame youtube personalities such as Total Biscuit. teaching 12 and 13 year olds that if you're an A-Hole you can get millions of followers. |

That said, I would not be surprised if some companies encouraged their team and forum mods etc to "help" bash a different game on MMO forums because it's much simpler then having someone do the same ingame, and much more effective. It can be just blatantly bashing or encouraging your community to do it for you by some quotes like "Hey everyone! Check out site YYY and comment on how good our game is" which starts flame wars.

Games always seem to bring out the 2 year old in some people. I am in a public beta and had to turn off the global chat because of that. It is sad but I guess it is harmless. My opinion. Currently bored with MMO's. |

Sounds intensly sad on multiple levels.
They have nothing better to do besides play an mmo. And since its claimed they're doing it all day then they dont obviously have much of a life.
So they play an mmo. Except they cant seem to even do THAT properly or the way its meant to be done.
Its like a Fail....of a fail......amazing. |

Originally posted by kevjards Oh yeah, you'll see that all the time in games where someone is pissed and they get a free month of play. Fallen Earth was like that at laumch in the help channels, and now it's even *worse* since it's F2P... and the same people bitching will be back weeks down the line, reiterating the same shit. Trolling = entertaiment that gameplay simply can't give people. It's 100x more social than the mechanics allow. Writer / Musician / Game Designer Now Playing: Skyrim, Wurm Online, Tropico 4 |

Who did wrong? The advertiser hired to sell the game or the consumer who put faith in advertising? |

What I want to know, is how did I miss "Alienware" and 'faps' replacing Chuck Norris as the douchebags' main topic of conversation? I don't care why they are there, but it seems that on 3 different servers, I've had the same experience. I try to block the main offenders, but sometimes people seem to log on with their feed bags for trolls filled and it becomes hard to know who to block, and gets tiring blocking people the whole damn evening. |
