Originally posted by DeserttFoxx Just a little warning about expectations on animations being changed : Animations in a 3D game is excessively time expensive. So two things : 1) at this point in dev cycle, don't expect any animation visual feeling to be changed. 2) As it's a mmo, and mmos being the genre with the most numerous & different animations, don't expect it to change anytime at all. Because reworking the global visual feeling would mean rework all of them, and it would be suicidal to spend the little budget they'll get from sales only in animation reworking. Unless official critics would be all saying the animations are a deal breaker, but we know it won't be the case. This was not a personal judgement on TSW animations, this was just a reality check about animation modifications in MMOs. ***** Before hitting that reply button, please READ the WHOLE thread you're about to post in ***** |

Originally posted by Rusque Agree completely. I left my computer on all day Friday to DL TSW beta while at work, eagerly expecting to enjoy a fun weekend of testing with a game I have been following for a long time. What I got was an electronic turd sandwich from Funcom. Once again, they had tricked me into taking a bite. (At least it was free this time!) The character creation is extremely limited. Movement and animations are awkward. (Jumping is pathetic) The opening storyline is poorly done. The writing and dialog has the depth of a 3rd grade children's book, so much so that I felt embarrassed for the voice actors. I can envision them standing in a recording studio holding a piece of paper asking " You actually want me to say this stuff?" Combat is bad. Shooting pistols in this game is just depressing. Using the sword is ok, except that every so often an attack fails to register damage. Blood magic and the sniper rifle was unavailable for testing, as was the pvp instances. The Secret World beta is like getting underwear for Christmas, disappointing in every way. |

Originally posted by Crunchy221 Umm, I'm a GW2 fan and I'm loving TSW just as much. So..his being a GW2 fan doesn't matter. What matters, is I don't think he's playing the game right. He's not adapting to it's style and is instead trying to play it like every other MMO out there. This game is going to divide a lot of players due to how different it is. Me? I love the difference and with this and GW2 I will be quite happy for the next 5 years of MMO gaming. Others, however are going to give reviews like he did. Because they don't "get it". TSW is truly one of those games you just either "get" or you don't. |

/vanguard Or to be more up to date... /FFXIV It seems so insane how Funcom keeps doing this, you'd think they would have learned with Age of Conan that you never release a game that isn't polished, finished or unacceptably buggy. |

Originally posted by gbooster keeps doing what? the game ran fine for me. i didnt see any more bugs than any other mmo in beta and i've played them all. vanguard? well it just had more bugs than a new york hotel ff14? it absolutely chugged, even on screaming machines, not to mention the most clunky interface in history. TSW is hardly either of those |

It's not buggy, I saw less bugs in tsw beta than gw2 beta. Gw2 is better game though. Tsw is a good game if this were last year vs swtor & rift, tsw all the way no contest
