Originally posted by sgel I find in it lots of things I've been missing in MMOs. Modern day horror theme is just for me. And FC is bold to try new things too. Think I'm done with high fantasy MMOs. Edit: Checked your post history and discovered that you are a GW2 fanboi. Well, I can ask you the same thing - what do you find in games like that? And don't tell that no sub because that's not an argument for me. Plus I'm quite sure that GW2 will be as expensive as P2P MMO. |

Game becomes really creepy when the fog blankets the map and when the fog horns starts.... ARGGH! Silent Hill creepy much.
I was in a tough area in the north when the fog hit so finding my way back was really fun, running for my life then all off a sudden i've ran into a huge group of enemies. So much fun it created a great atmosphere. |

Jebus the TSW fanbois are out in force this weekend.
Heavens forbid anyone thinks the game is poor.
Personally it has some great concepts but the combat is just so incredibly dull and poorly animated that I just cant play it I felt the same when I saw it in Cologne I feel the same after 10 hrs in it yesterday.
Queue the 10 hrs blalablablablla not enough blablabla well sorry but if a game does not capture me in 10 hrs then its not worth any further time investment. |

For all that it's worth, the cutscenes I've seen so far make SWTOR look like Tetris. They were very good, I'd say a toned down version of GTA cutscenes, apparently also with real, but not very detailed mocap. Still beats anything currently seen in MMO's cut-scene wise. Originally posted by Crunchy221 Still, you don't have to be a huge fan of another company to say that FC should wait a little longer before releasing their game. Both AO and AoC would have earned a lot if they were released 9 months later. I do admit that I havn't tried the game yet though, but I do remember begging FC to wait with AoCs release in the beta forum, almost all beta testers did the same. If the game isn't in perfect shape they really should wait with the release. This game really could be a big deal and it would be sad if they messed up the release. |

combat does feel clunky and awkward i'll agree with that, but i been playing alot of TERA lately, so generic mmo's kinda feel awkward when i play them... still though, i think they should have gone a more reaction based combat system... i think thats the most positive direction for mmo's to head in, adds another level of skill to the equation |

Originally posted by kartool In case you're wondering, I have been in the closed beta since December. The game has improved a lot in the last month or so, but it's still bad (in my opinion). For those that enjoy TSW, more power to you, but I will be completely shocked if it even manages to retain as many subs as AoC after the first month (in its current state). Op: I don't believe you played it
Why? You refer to constant kill x quests I've played for 6 hours, had like 2 kill x quests I will say this though, the first hour or two does give the impression you ate getting a swtor style cutscenes & corridors setup, but once you've played through Tokyo, the training stuff in London and the first few zombie quests in kingsmouth itself and spread out into the area around kingsmouth it opens up a lot more. I was worried at the start it was on the rails like Swtor but once you've played a few hours its a much more open game where you can just wander off and find stuff. I agree the animations aren't great, especially the jump animation. The combat I guess its how you play it, if you just try and stand there like wow/rift/swtor type game it will feel bad, your supposed to kite mobs around stuff. I liked the really small gcd, what is it about .5 of a second, but I can see others thinking its spammy, guess its preference, but after playing swtor as last mmo and spending more time watching the gcd timer than the game I like. That said gw2 is a better game and will be my main mmo, but tsw from what I've seen so far is a good themepark mmo that does things a little different for those people bored of the sane games over the last 8 years. If I was a more pve and less pvp focused player I would probably be playing tsw as my main. If swtor players start trying it swtor us doomed, it does swtors one trick pony gimmick (story) better than swtor, while also having more of what makes a mmo a mmo - more exploring, more open once you get past the first few quest givers in kingsmouth, much more involved crafting system & character build system, more opportunity to work with other players. I am a gw2 fan its my favourite mmo at the moment. But tsw is a worthy game of what I've seen so far. |

I agree with the OP. This game is horrible. I'm honestly surprised, I knew it was a Funcom product and all but what are they thinking..
They would of done a lot better if they never offered a beta weekend, almost everyone I've talked to dislikes the game already. Sennheiser |

I had no interest in the game but after trying the beta just because I could I was sold. It's really won me over. I think any gamer who wants to get immersed and actually pay attention to the story and setting will REALLY like it. Once you get into that sort of mindset the minor issues become exactly that, minor issues. |

Originally posted by Vannor TSW has a lot of good things going for it but it also has quite a few bad ones to. Why is it that only those with perfect body porpotions gets to wield Anima? Character creation is a significant step backwards from AOC instead of the big step forward it should have been for a game set in the modern world. Why is it that I have more options for customizing my clothing options in some truck stops than I do in this game? Again it's modern setting and having no stats on Clothing makes this game ripe for lots of customization options. Even the slots to place clothing into are very limitied. The combat is very sloppy. You end up spamming the resource building ability over and over until you get enough to use your resource spending attack. Kind of bland for 2012 isn't it? And what options do you have to moving out of the way when the Mob emotes a big attack coming? You can walk slowly and calmly out of the way. The skill system does look pretty cool and picking the right mix of skills before a fight sounds like something I would enjoy but as soon as you hit that first attack the combat goes downhill fast. Animations are very week at this point. Weaker than AOC for sure. While there are a small number of really cool quests 90% of them are fetch/kill wrapped in thinly veiled excuses. If feels like your slugging though those 9 bad quests to find that 1 really good one. I'm not a GW2 fanboy (I have bashed it's cash shop without end) but this game is NOT ready for release. Do I expect Funcom to wait and iron out the bad parts? No I don't and that's a shame. The game does have sparks of brillance shinning out the edges but the rough parts just makes them hard to see sometimes. |

The voice acting was fine. I was actually impressed that the characters in different locals actually had the accents of said locals...English accents, Boston accents, and Southern accents...I was actually impressed. And the cut scene graphics were good.
Nice trolling attempt tho. |

Originally posted by udon I had players using a backjump in PVP getting themselfes out of hamrs way fast and continuing to snare me to death so if it was not some sort of bug they used i believe there will be skills later on that allow you more depth in the combat (maybe the elite skills are what will make the diff) |

Originally posted by Vannor also bought into the beta just because (knew very little about this game beforehand) and... well... I've come to the conclusion "story" driven MMOs are not for me. I can see how people can enjoy this game, and I agree it has some strong points, overall though just not for me. Also, no where close to release polish in general, and FPS is horrid for me (Tera, GW2 play beautifully on my machine).
