I was thinking of starting EVE and noticed many posts of players saying it's not for folks just starting. Is this game top heavy? Does a new player have a chance to contribute and make something of themselfs? Please advise... |

The game is truly complex and non-linear therefore even new players can very meaningfully contribute and enjoy the game without much constrains coming from their youth. It is very new player friendly game, do not let anyone bully you otherwise. |

EVE is one of the few games where a 6 week old character can make a difference, it depends on how and what you want to play, a newbie friend of mind joined me in 0.0 in a frigate (rifter) had no idea what he was doing but managed to help me bait and grab a rapier (200-300m kill on a gate). I have seen new players hero tackle a sabre and get a station named after them in 0.0. It all depends on you, yes the skill training is long and real time but do all the tutorials then join EVE university OR if interested in pvp and small group combat in hisec join RVB. My in game name is Quebber, hit me up on here in private message or in game, I am part of goonswarm and I will help you out with advice (Yes Goonswarm scam idiots who should know better but we do not scam true newbies to the game) EVE is one of the most challenging games out there but a new player who can stand up for himself and shows a little common sense and self reliance can end up involved in things no other game can offer.

If you are driven to succeed, plan out accordingly and specialize into a particular role early, you could be a highly useful member of a small fleet inside of a week from the point your character first comes online. Try to find a good corp to start off in, such as Eve University or Red vs Blue, and go from there. For a role that is very useful and quick to get into, try a Fast Tackler. This is a player in a small fast ship, such as a frigate, that can go very fast to get close to an enemy ship and lock down its engines so that it can't escape. If you do decide to do this, follow these steps: 1) Get the client 2) Create a character, the race doesn't really matter 3) Do the tutorial missions so you learn the basics on how to control your ship 4) Look up the following equipment in the market: 1MN Microwarp Drive, Stasis Webifier I and Warp Scrambler I. Look into their info, learn which skills you'll need to train in order to be able to put them on your ship, then get and train those skills then get those pieces of equipment. 5) Join a corp that seems good to you. If you can have all the equipment I mentioned in step 4 on your ship at once, small PvP fleets (gangs) are going to LOVE you. Listen to the older members of your corp, learn from their experience, and you'll be a badass in no time. Good luck. |
