Originally posted by Plaidpants Lol that wouldn't be true even if EA's sub numbers weren't blatant lies. Think Korean for a sec. I'd be surprised if true sub numbers for SWTOR are above 500k. I wouldn't be suprised if they were less than 500k. In any case, there may be some hope still left for SWTOR so lets revisit their sub numbers in 2 months. I predict complete shutdown by 2013. So we have a paradox. Sci-fi theme park MMOs can never be good (at least the ones so far) but they're looking for a good sci-fi MMO, which doesn't really make sense because if they were looking for a *GOOD* sc-fi MMO, they wouldn't have gone to SWTOR |

So your standard server might be fine, but not everyones is. |

Originally posted by BarCrow Or maybe a lot of people playing SWTOR are just waiting for another MMO.
For god sakes, the game has lost over 1.1 million subs since launch and there hasn't even been any big MMO releases yet. 50% of it's population down the drain and all SWTOR has to look forward to is the releae of Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2 and MoP |

Originally posted by Blackwater56 ..or maybe it's just like I said. For all people?..of course not. For me and others?...I'm sure. I also have a sub to Tera and will likely sub to TSW. I plan to buy Guild Wars 2 as well as play about 5+ F2Ps and sub off/on to RIFT. I guess I just like to have options. I particularly want SWTOR to stick around because I think they can make positive changes over the next few years...I also want to take my time with the various stories no matter how lame many believe them to be. If I have to transfer servers (as long as my legacy comes with me) then so be it...not the first time for an mmo...I know it wont be the last. Even had to transfer WOW servers back when I was still playing. People get so pissed off with Bioware (and EA more understandably). They should be pissed at themselves. Sure...Bioware could have made a much better MMO if they had maximized the potential of all the money they had to work with....same goes with just about every MMO realeased. When it comes down to it though...from all the shit I've read and the years I followed the games development..they pretty much gave us the game the said they said they were making. We are the ones who hyped it up to god-like status. Most of us anyway. Hype didnt make itself...Bioware advertised and released trailers and info and most of us drooled and Imagined paradise. They fell short on PvP which most games do. How the rest of the game came out is no surprise to anyone who read about it before launch. Just my thoughts ..I know many will disagree as usual. |

Originally posted by BarCrow Dude, if you want to pay 15 a month to listen to some story+voice over, go ahead, but just know that you're in the ever shrinking majoirty.
And don't give me that bullshit of Bioware not hyping they're own game. They promised an MMO where you would be "doing stuff you wouldn't expect to do in other MMOs" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68VfgesWmcI
Bioware and EA are the fucking kings of liars and marketing |

Originally posted by Blackwater56 Fine..I'm in the majority. It is likely you mean't "minority" though. As far as liars.....they are marketing a product. Every developer does it so i guess we don't buy any product ever. If they did lie to me it was like a 2 year olds lies. You can see through marketing through just a bit of education. We'll just disagree which is fine too. Let me know when you find that game that has everything that was promised. I'd like to play that one too. |

Originally posted by BarCrow Well SWTOR only lost 46% of it's players since launch so you're TECHNICALLY still in the majority.
BTW GW2 has everything it promised. But really there is a difference between stretching the truth and saying something along the lines of "this MMO is different than every MMO out there".
And let's not forget Biowares little stunt with removing ranked warzones from the patch 5 hours before it went live. And lets not forget the same-sex romanced they promised which i seriously doubt will ever see the light of day.
But hey, at least you get a smuggler with force lightning every 20 minutes. |

game would not be too bad if it had a proper working engine.guess tip for future mmo dev is if you spend so much money then make sure the engine aka the heart of the game is tailored for it. |

Peeps just need to take a step back , we got so many chicken littles running around in this new age of mmo gaming. All we do now is complain how X game isn't Y game and how Z game will be the one... /rinse and repeat What in the hell has the gaming community come to.

Originally posted by BarCrow Let me know when you find that game that has everything that was promised. I'd like to play that one too. Nice one. If they provided even half things they said they were making it would be much successful. Fact is we got not-so-good WoW clone, and people are rejecting it. Blatantly copying everything from another game only takes you so far. Something that EA (BW included) will have to learn hard way it seems. But no pity or greif there, mediocrity when desired is much more (by themselves) leads to more mediocrity. And when you dish out 200+m to make a game, mediocrity just doesnt cut it. Only exellence will. No, they cant solve their problem by making another raid or FP or few more dailies. Problem is much more fundamental than that. |

Originally posted by Blackwater56 I am a BH with force choke thank you very much. lol. GW2 is looking good to me. Arenanet never really touted how MMO changing and revolutionary it would be..they just gave us info on what they expected to have in the game. Already...because of the hype pre beta..people are saying it's not revolutionary as promised. Lets see if the mob can separate what they (the mob itself) said from what the developer told us. I hate hype..it really does put things on pedestals that are much too high. (except The Avengers movie because that did kind of kick arse) |

Originally posted by mikahr What half did they leave out that was suppose to be in game? I know people might have been disappointed in half the features because they didn't function exactly as envisioned in their mind's eye. Yes PvP is broken and not fun for many . Never bothered me because I'm not a "must be on top of the charts all the time" type. I was happy near the top or if I got a decent reward of valor and credits for the time I spent. The last patch did nerf the credit intake considerably but oh well. Most of what I read pre-launch was in game when I played. Perhaps not as awesome as they sounded but still in game. I haven't played an mmo yet whose features were all as grandiose as advertised. AoC= launch w/o half the features advertised. SWTOR= not so much like AoC at launch. Anyway...like the 2nd part of your quote...if you find that game...let me know. |
