Fair enough, I guess EA is known for this stuff, but it is interesting to see it at its peak with the bad news of the (heavily doctored) sub loss.

So, whats new about a company removing negative posts on their own forum? its nothing new, many many, companies have done so.

In one of the many, many 50-page "the Server Population  is dropping..." threads somebody had gone to the trouble of determining what the various status levels meant in respect to population.    These were long, detailed posts about how he sampled, what servers he used, what time of day.  

A whole lot of work.

I read them and was impressed.  When I went back to quote one of them, they were gone.  Including the BioDrones who'd copied the posts in their lame attacks.  

Just wiped out.    Information not to be had by the masses.    And the guy who did it all.   Banned.   Like he didn't exist.   The funny thing is, they didn't do anything to the German guy who is providing clear and devastating information regarding the continuing hemorrhage of players in the German thread.

I wonder if they hired any German moderators...  Or that EA German-speaking moderators are more sensitive to shutting up dissent.     Anyway, that's not all that relevent.   What is relevent is that they can do that.   It's their board.   And they chose the heavy hand of censorship.   It's perfectly okay.   But it does generate ill-will and a lack of trust.   And trust, unfortunately for BioWare, is one of the key pillars of keeping your players in the game.

I've seen this before on the LOTRO forums.

This is one of the big reasons I may leave the game actually.

I know that sounds odd, but if I can't go to the forums and voice my opinion and hear others opinions honestly, then there's no point in the forums at all.  If all i wanted was to talk rainbows and lollipops I wouldn't need a forum would I?

I'd submit that to various gaming news outlets if you can proof it. I wouldn't be surprised if it's true, though. EA has always had a shady reputation.

There's plenty of proof.

I know around a dozen people who were banned and had their posts deleted, just for posting constructive feedback and even solutions to game problems.

A couple of them kept records of their posts, expecting them to get deleted.

There are probably many, many more who have been victims of the SWTOR nazi moderation team.

It's just a sign of desperation with their dead game combined with typical EA dishonesty.

I didn't get banned but my posts got deleted and i recieved a few warnings.

1. You can insult, troll and namecall ANYONE as long as you do so in EAWARES name. Your shining beacons of defense for BIOWARE will not be touched ever, not even with F*** words written out.
(Search the swtor forums for those terms).

2. Stating facts about gamemechanics without personal attacks for any sort of namecalling will still get your posts to be moderated for "Agressive Posting".

I'd personally drawed the line, when my post got deleted and i recieved yet another warning for writing a one liner about graphic options in a thread by someone who had patched up to 1.1 and made a post about how great the game now is with way better graphics (YES patch 1.1).

My respone:
"There is no real high setting, High does not reflect High but Medium. Nothing has changed".

And yes the hatefull fanboy respone to my post is still in this thread till today ofc not moderated. After 5 or 6 "moderations" i'd simply decided to not even casually let this game bill me for another month and play another character through the poor story as my second / thirdrate downtime only mmo.

They shouldn't have to tolerate it.  Do you put up with rude guests in your house?  The problem is that people think they are entitled to say whatever whereever without consequences.

I just don't think that analogy about rude guests in your house is correct.

If I had a neighbourhood meeting in my house where I encouraged people to take turns to speak up on any issues they choose, if I chose to censor that debate based on my own opinions and biases, that would be wrong.

The definition of a forum:

A medium for open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper, a radio or television program, or a website.

I'm unsure if you think the whole thing is some kind of conspiracy theory or you're just paranoid, or both.

I'd have like to see that. Always like to see clear empirical reasoning.

Official forums are always a great idea. It's not like players become self entitled, self important and self impose their thoughts on the rest of the community like they are the god of everything that is right. It's not like forums are the ultimate narcassistic enablers turning the players into little children who must get their way and be heard as they spew out their demands, statements and opinions as facts of truth.
