Good article over at killtenrats.com on the GW2 economy and some of the tools that GW2 includes to make inventory management and participation in the economy easier for players. http://www.killtenrats.com/2012/05/02/gw2-fast-banking-and-faster-markets/ There may be no auctions or auctioneer style addons, but people who like to play the economy for fun and profit will enjoy the GW2 Trading Post. Early signs that crafters may find profit from their craft in GW2 as well. Not mentioned in the article, Arenanet has plans for smart phone apps and a web based interface to allow players to participate in the marketplace when they aren't even playing the game! My inner commodities trader is salivating over the possibilities. :) Want to know more about GW2 and why there is so much buzz? Start here: Guild Wars 2 Mass Info for the Uninitiated |

I am glad that Arenanet didn't decide to go with WoW's style of auctions. Based on the description they went with an auction system that's much more similar to the type found in games like Pirates of the Burning Sea. I found that "blind" auction style much more effective and efficient than WoW's system, once you got use to how it worked that is. |

I messed with the market quite a bit, but for some reason I did not notice the other sections of the bank. I was having trouble fitting all my crafting ingrediants in my main bank slots. Thanks for linking the article that will help me a lot next beta. |

Thank you for the link! It is some more good stuff. :) The part of extra areas for cooking materials is a plus, I just hope cooking is worth the trouble. Every other mmorpg I have played I just have found it to be a waste of time. Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not. |

Love that they kept the Guild Wars style of the bank, and being able to deposit from anywhere is quite handy. The market system reminds of a simplified EVE Online market, just without the ability to haul it to other regions for a profit. Overall good info. |

The "auction house" / trading post system reminds me alot like that of FFXI with buy orders, anonymous sellers etc. and that's a good thing! You could pick an item you wanted to buy, then place an "offer" for an amount you wanted to pay, if it hits, you get the item(s), if the offer was too low, the auction said "offer too low", so you had to up the offer (and you could see the last 10 or so purchases made of the said item(s) etc. Best auction house system i've yet come across and looks like Anet is bringing it "back" :) Currently playing: FTB Ultimate Waiting for: Wildstar, ArcheAge, Class4. Dead and Buried: GW2, SWTOR, Darkfall, AO, AC2, Vanguard, CoH/V, EnB, EVE, Neocron, FE, EQ, EQ2, DAoC, FFXI, SWG, WoW, and billions of eastern junks! |

The trading post is one of those features that makes you ask "Why don't most MMOs do it this way"? I love the dedicated crafting and cooking space and I'm still kicking myself for not realizing that you could right click to send crafting mats directly to the cellections tab of the Vault, or that you could buy and sell on the Trading Post from anywhere in the world. At least by the third day I remembered how Salvage kits worked in GW1 and started to keep them on hand to break down anything I couldn't use and didn't want to sell into the stackable crafting mats! I really hope the smart phone apps and web interface make it in for launch. I can imagine a lot of people at work taking a few minutes here and there through out the day to initiate trades. :) Well, I never did get into crafting during BWE1, so I'm glad I know all this stuff in order to fascilitate crafting and commerce for BWE2! Thanks for the article i really had no time at all to watch those aspects, and i'm not sure i'll have enough in the next beta either. But i'll try to at least touch those aspects, and loose an hour figuring those things out. I really want to look at crafting too... so much to do.
A guy had 2 miniatures in an event, and i thought it was a visual bug, they are so funny. A shame they can't fight. |

Why spend time playing the market, when I can spend much less time just spending real money to buy gold and when Karma-gear is supposidely more desirable? |

A few questions though: Is there any fee involved in putting and/or withdrawing a sell/buy order? Is there perhaps a timer involved for how often you can put/withdraw orders? There should be, otherwise the more active people will cancel and reput like madmen due to being able to instantly access the trading post. |

Originally posted by Amjoco I wish I could find the dev post on the beta forums for you now. Anet did mention that all of the cooking recipe's are based on real life recipe's and its concidered thier "advanced" craft. Basically telling us everyone will want cooking on a character. Every other MMO that had an "advanced" craft it was pretty OP compared to the others. Though for me even if its not "worth it" per say I will love trying to figure out recipes since they said they are all based off real life recipes :) That in itself is pretty sweet concidering the system they use for crafting. |
