as with aion this game will drop off the radar quickly as people get sick of 4 hour dps queue's in dungeon finder, get sick of the randomness of enchanting, the cost of crafting meaning you cant really even start until the 40's and the same old system when it comes to questing.

 

gw2 sure isn't perfect but it's making more attempts to fix what's wrong with the genre than bringing another korean grinder over to the west, changing the panties on the female child race to shorts and calling it westernized could ever do.

Not really sure that would be an issue just hit 47 and have over 1700g mostly from just questing

NA version is not the same as Korean version.  The enchant system in NA is not near as difficult as the one in Korea.  Let me repeat that KOREAN ENCHANTING NOT SAME AS NORTH AMERICAN ENCHANTING

While the unreal 3 engine is a really sweet engine I am not sure you would be able to play Tera at max settings but im pretty certain it would not require minimum settings either.

It has a bright future IF they can weather the initial storm. The foundations of the game are rock solid, it just needs more systems put into place to support its outstanding combat. This is one of the few MMOs I could see possibly growing in popularity over time.

I think thats a bit how i feel as well and why i think Tera will last. Right now Tera is just like a VERY solid and nice foundation. But its missing things to make it attracting but because of its solid foundation the things added on it will be great. The combat is a great foundation, and so far onlything build on top of it is the dungeons and some PvP. But now they added Nexus which is a nice system. Soon we will get battle ground and server vs server that will make the game stand out more. And because of the nice foundation you can add things on and they would be good due to good foundations.

I don't think going F2P (cash shop) is failing.

Tera's combat is fun.

Rift isn't dead, it's just bad. The devs took a great idea, rifts, and then ran with WoW / EQ style raiding instead of expanding on the one thing that made their game unique. Oh, and its PvP was bad... it was and is gear vs gear and the grind to gear out is horrid, not to mention PA.

Of all the games that are out right now, if I were to buy one it'd be Tera... but since D3 comes out in just over a week I'm holding off.

I'm looking forward to GW2, Diablo3 and PS2. GW2 and Diablo3 are no brainers since I can pick them both up and drop them as I please without the psychological effect that a subscription has. I have bad memories of hacks in PlanetSide... so I'm still on the fence there... SOE is not known for policing its games... but it's way early to worry about that in PS2.

Not at all.  it's a natural progression for games these days.  Tera in particular is will set up to adopt that pricing plan if they should choose to go that way.

Going F2P is good for older games!!But for newer games going F2P that start out as a paid sub is not good!!We all know going F2P you will end up pending/makeing more money than you would just with the monthly sub.

The main problem I'm having with enjoying the game is how unforgiving the combat system is when there is any latency involved.  I'm playing from South Australia so I have a minimum of 250-300 latency and it's probably higher than that (the game doesn't tell you).  It makes PvP and even PvE in this game very difficult and not as much fun as it could be.

I'm inclined to agree.

The opportunities remaining in this game aren;t large enough to keep this from being a darkhorse title for 2012.

The amount of fanfare this game has released to works in this games favor IMO.

Most didn't expect the game to be good as the Korean version wasn't received well which has tempered any potential hype this game could create.

What's funny to me, is that the games that have fared best over the last 12 years (or more) are the ones that released to only a small to moderate amount of hype (with exception to DAOC)

Well thats how it works lol, its the NA server so by name its for people who live in NA. If your playing outside it you will experience lag and pin issue no matter what.

I'm aware of those and they won't give me any better latency than what I have now. It's simply down to how far I am from the servers.  The absolute best latency I can expect is around 250 from where I live (it's 60 to Sydney on the east coast of Australia alone).

So depending on where in NA the servers are I can get 250 latency for west coast up to 400+ for east coast.

For most of this game it's ok but PvP and stuff like soloing BAMs is very difficult because the game is designed to require you to react very quickly to enemies. The game might give you a second to react to an attack but for me I have to react in half the time to avoid an attack which isn't alway possible.
