Originally posted by drel From my previous experiences with guild wars and im considering they will continue the same model for the sequel as well. Anet will release expansion packs fairly regularly, so i wouldn't doubt there will be more weapon types and sets available. If anything im hoping they bring back Dervish and the continent of Elona.... haha can you imagine a Charr dervish?

While I do think they have enough weapons, I do wish the skills attached to that weapon weren't set in stone. I would have loved it if they had a weapon ability pool just like they have a class ability pool and you could change some of the skills out and weren't stuck with the same ones from the moment you lerned them on. I wouldn't even care if it costed skillpoints just like the class abilities. While it's not a huge negative, it would have been nice. RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and Paul Gray. |

Originally posted by FlawSGI a cool system would be a learn as we use kind of thing, skill 1 can only be changed for a slot 1 wepon skill 2 cna only be changed out for a slot 2 wepon skill and so on (giving reasons to be dedicated to 1/2 wepon type(s))
its one of my few complaints its great for balance but it will put some people into a rut |

I would like to see Spears or medium to long range melee weapons. |

Thanks Everyone! I really appreciate the feedback. What I've noticed is some classes, like the thief, have very limited weapon choices. I think with a greater of variety of weapon choices with damage and skill sets afforded to each weapon, it would provide a greater diversity of the class. I agree that additional weapons won't be seen until an update in the game.

Originally posted by cloud8521 Yeah I don't care how they implement the skills for weapons, only that there was somewhat of a choice. Your way sounds more limiting, but also eaier to balance than say having a large pool and letting people just pick out of the ones available. I am ok with how they have it, I just feel a little more choice on weapons abilities woulda went a long way. RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and Paul Gray. |

I could have sworn I saw a video with a Necro wielding a scythe (not from the necro's perspective) recently. Those 5 or 10 seconds actually persuaded me to decide to roll a necro next BWE, but if peoples comments in this thread are accurate and scythes do not in fact exist in the game, then I will have to reconsider :/ |

AFAIK there are no scythes in GW2 (I'm guessing they're keeping them in wraps for when they do an elonian based expantion), but several of the necromancer's staff attacks have a shadowy scythe blade appear on the staff when performed. What can men do against such reckless hate? |

I would love a high level "cross class" (not actual cross class mind you, just pick "warrior training", recive the ability to use all the warriors weapon with skills that match your class) thing, so it would bring a little of gw1 into gw2, for instance have your ranger be able to pick up a gun or an elementalist with a greatsword and get a new set of skills. As it stands now, even with all the diffrent combinations of weapons for each class, you're gonna get all you're skills fairly quick and then after you hit level 10 or whatever, getting a new weapon wont be that "awesome" factor they're going for, since you already grinded all the skills with a low level greatsword anyway. They could ofcourse also add new weapon styles, such as crossbows and spears and what have you, incase they really dont want the ranger to use rifles |

Originally posted by heartless Well it is perfectly ok. Spear & shield was actuall quite common weapon through ancient & medieval times (and even later eras !).
I know both spear & lance are long and have pointy ends and seem similar ,but totally diffrent kind of weapon. Totally against lance for foot combat.
Anyway totally agreed and supporting for spear and shiled :)
Someone mentioned sling earlier and I also think that's brilliant idea.

I liked the idea posted earlier, you start out with basic weapons and work your way up to more sophicated weapons with new skill sets as you advance your character. |

I'd bet that expansions will add new weapons and therefor new abilities and play styles.
All ANet has to do is come out with an expansion that adds Rapier, Boomerang or 2h Axe and they'll add a huge amount to the game. It'd also be easy to justify restricting people who did not purchase the expansion from using new weapon types and doing so would not gimp anyone who did not purchase the expansion... building on Guild War's tradition. |

There are enough basic weapons, although I feel that they should introduce variants with slightly different skill sets. For example, a rifle with a bayonet, a scoped rifle, and various different abilities with different melee weapons or bow types. |

Originally posted by Banisco Make it even cooler, TWO bladed shields one for each hand that you can use to defend yourself from more angles and atack with. I think i saw it in dynasty warriors. Worked great. Also for the people asking for fists, i think i saw a warrior elite that changes your first 5 skills to fist atacks, i know its not the same but its at least something. |

Personally I think there's a satisfactory number of skills in the game. But what I WOULD add if I didn't have to be the one to worry about balancing the whole mess..

I'm happy with what they have, there do seem to ba a few classic ones missing (like 2h axes, spears, and tomes for casters) but there's plenty of time to add them in later. |
