SWTOR put the nail in the mmo coffin for me, but this video is making that skeleton claw and fight its way back out again. CURSE YOU GW2! Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience. |

Originally posted by OldManFunk I agree, tutorials would have helped. Being just thrown into the game was interesting if a bit frustrating to figure everything out, which I still have yet to do-anxiously waiting the next BETA! |

Originally posted by Requiamer lol great event, very frustrating video to watch. They were so oblivious to almost everything. I especially loved the part where he ran away to an engineer's healing turret because he was almost dead, got healed to full because he had been out of combat for an extended period of time, and exclaimed, "healing turrets are amazing!" |

Originally posted by Homitu Haha, the fast healing outside of combat was really nice between, no more sit down to regen, what a release! ho man and casters have no mana, jez i totally overlooked this, your comment just made me realize! my elementalist had no mana management, wow its like you just gave me a slap during my sleep or something...
Also the event was easier to us, but i think we were a lot more than in the vid, probably at least 3 time more people. But ye a lot of people died never the less. |

Originally posted by Requiamer It does seem rather impossible for people not to die on that one. Melee really looked like they had it rough. I rewatched parts of the event several times--most of times the melee got destroyed there was no red aoe circle indicator over the area, and the boss did not perform a noticeable animation to indicate players should flee (at least from what I could discern through the barrage of player spell effects.) Perhaps it was just a lesson to teach players to swap to ranged weapons, or to get players to start rezzing each other. |

Originally posted by colddog04 I feel I've done you a diservice as I should have taken everything in context, apologises there. highlighting bits and bobs isn't really fair. Like you say and as the video demonstrates maybe I should invest more time in being patient and seeing what happens as things pan out, reminds me of the old days in a roundabout way :D

The dynamic events are different are really different from Warhammer events. I'll also agree with others, I rushed as well and didn't pay attention with npcs..next beta weekend, I'll take time to follow and dot the npcs. This isn't about DE, but I feel this should be relevant. Role players exploring divinity's reach. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R35WBFynMAc [part 1][there's multiple parts of the video] the asthetics of the game is really grand. Before watchin those videos, I didn't know doors could close, sliding down the rails, concept arts in wall paintings, if you character is near a sitting bench, your character will left their leg and lean on the bench and soooo much more. The attention to detail is top notch and only wished swtor followed this design than its static world. Of course the game has its gripes, but the game is truely worth $60. I might actually buy the CE, but I don't know if I want two accounts. |

Originally posted by Amjoco I did this one twice... there are two or three extra steps leading up to the part that the video cuts in. This is just one of 2 or 3 events in this (lv10 - 16) area of about the same scope. This is a warm up to world boss and large world DEs at later level which we have already seen at conventions. I always chuckle when people come into GW2 threads complaining about no 24 - 40 man raids... That was a low level 20+ player raid event which there are a ton of once you get past level 10 (and a couple for levels before that). How anyone can say there is no end game or big event content is just beyond me. In the same zone (further north) there is an event just as big where you have to take a tower and then fight a warlord. I ran it from start to finish and it was epic. EPIC. I rezzed about 20 people during that event and others rezzed just as much as I did. There were about 25 - 30 of us and the warlord took a good 5 minutes to take down. The whole chain took about 30 minutes. For a low level DE that is quite a taste of things to come. TY for posting this video... Next beta weekend I want to fraps an entire epic chain... so many though it is hard to repeat them as at least I was stumbling into a new one almost every 2 minutes. -Atziluth- - Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity. |

That's awesome. I went into this village and didn't even see that I was travelling between several branches of this chain (including of course the bear army lol).
Another meta event which enbranched with a nearby event and created a very impressive macro story : http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/4946813#4946813 ***** Before hitting that reply button, please READ the WHOLE thread you're about to post in ***** |

Once we'd caught on to how what we thought were familiar events branched or carried on, we hung around after every step of everything we were involved with, and we were not disappointed. The only downside is other people need to catch on and not run away after just one stage of a DE thinking it's over, I personally felt the more people involved the better. Plus they missed out on some great stories, which were even more impressive when you'd realise how they relate to other events you've seen in the area, not to mention that some events seem to have a hell of a lot of stages, and a ton of various paths. And all without ever once being told to go there. Finally an open ended, exploration pays off, zero task hub grind MMO. I haven't been able to play a game with this much freedom since, who knows, DAoC/EQ/UO era. Sure you could go off the very recommended path in other themeparks, but you were shooting yourself in the foot as you'd miss out on loot, xp, faction and other unlocks required to advance along the preplanned route as the games were simply not designed to be played in any way other than exactly as the devs intended. No matter what direction we ran in in GW2, we encountered something worth doing, and from there, always seemed to easily stumble into something else equally as enjoyable. Brilliant.

I can honestly say I thought the DE's where average (but still fun). After watching this I'm thinking I'm a tard and need to actually pay attention more. Honestly though its kinda sad that a player had to do this instead of Anet doing it. On the bright side it gave one smart player a chance to make some of us feel stupid :) |

Originally posted by xenogias To be honest, when I figured out that events and NPCs function this way, I assumed that other players know as well because to me it was obvious after I figured it out. It's only after reading post BWE impressions that I realized that most people did not see what I saw and was completely oblivious to how DEs actually worked. ANet must've thought that it would be obvious too. But yea, they do need to explain this.
Edit: I accidentally a bunch of words.
