I enjoyed the first Torchlight, but with Diablo 3 coming out I don't think so. But I hope Torchligt 2 does well.

I will buy this over D3. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

I'm taking a "wait and see" approach to D3. Torchlight 2, however, is a definite purchase. The first Torchlight was great - though rather simple. The second sounds like an incredible improvement over the first in every way. And for only $20? Oh hell yes. |

Torchlight 2 all the way for me. D3, at best, is a bargain bin buy for me... too let down by it. (which is sad since i was in the same long anticipating wait like every other D1&2 player) We really need separate forums for every newly launched game. There can be the anti-<MMO> one and there can be the 'what general discussion should be' one. All the lamenting can happen together where each can find solace in like minded can't-move-on-ers leaving the rest of us to actually move forward and discuss meaningful and relevant topics. |

Originally posted by Nightshade55 I doubt I'd have anything against D3 as a game, but I had a lot of fun with Torchlight 2 in the short time I played it - which brings me to my other reason, it's cheap. I don't play dungeon crawlers for more than a few weeks usually, so I don't want to spend too much. The multiplayer aspect of both games is a good thing, however. I might get D3 when it comes down in price. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

Originally posted by Giddian If you just don't like the game, you may as well be buring a $20 bill when you buy it. Hell, there are 'AAA' games out there that I wouldn't play, even if they were free because I just don't like 'em. Can't expect people to support something they have no interest in. BTW, waiting on Torchlight 2 as well. Hope it releases sooner rather than later. At some point this summer, the window on playing any new games will be closed for me for quite a while. I'd love to get a few weeks of dungeon crawling in before that happens. |

Originally posted by TGSOL D3 to me, is just on a whole other level than Torchlight could ever aspire to achieve. The graphical style, the abilities themselves, which are generally uninspired and lackluster in the torchlight series, the enemies, the dungeons, all of it. Pretty much in every aspect I prefer D3. Now I don't make this comment to convince you but rather to share a laugh in how different experiences can be. I never thought I'd see the day where anyone would purchase T2 over D3, maybe both sure, but Torchlight over Diablo? That sentiment is almost alien to me. Which I'm sure a similar feeling has braced others where they couldn't imagine my point of view. If I could inspire a curious debate on what is appealing about T2 I would. It would be an honest debate, I'm legitimantly curious and my opinions are not set in stone. So someone could potentially get the prize of swaying my opinion if they came prepared. However I know that, for the most part, having a true debate on forums is borderline impossible. I've only seen it a few times in all my years of gaming. Which is sad, because I am really curious to understand other viewpoints. Usually though people are quick to tell me why I'm wrong but not able to admit any of my points are anything above mindless drool. So if there is anyone out there interested in true debate. I am all ears as to any possible draw of T2 over D3. Please keep in mind that one of the first points I will bring up is regarding natural progression. I do not view the loss of skill tree's as a con because it was a natural progression of what the community wanted. At first they had a skill tree, but one of the largest complaints about D2 was being locked into a skill tree forever. So they added a respec option at the towns in D3. Well the community quickly pointed out that skill tree's were largely useless then sense all skills were theoretically available anyways. You just had to go through the rather large hassle of respending all of your points to change one skill. So they took out skill tree's but forced players to return to town to change skills. Basically what they were doing anyways with the skill tree system. That wasn't fun though. Players were trecking back and forth all the time and more time was spent in transit back to towns to change a skill then in combat or actual gameplay. Thus you have the system we have now.
This system was a natural progression based on logic and player wants. T2 is not as advanced in this area and basically just hides an archaic system. People do not want to be locked into skill trees. If you provide a respec then all your doing is adding an unnecessary illusion of choice. You can respec, so you basically; have access to all skills anyways. You just have to go through a huge hassle to spec into them every time.
Well, I guess I've thrown the first bone. If anyone can respond with a degree of objectivity (we are all biased in some way) then I'd be happy to debate. |

Only 50 millionish accounts too. Like I said only a few people still bother with it.
Anyways....I have not bought it yet. I am waiting till it has a release date other than summer 2012.
