I am the lucid dream. BOW DOWN BEFORE THE GOD OF DEATH! |

I've loved Elder Scrolls from way back in the Daggerfall days.. but I don't have high hopes for an MMO based in this setting. Tons of heroes all over the place? Wouldn't be Elder Scrolls anymore... it's the loneliness and intimate/personal affect on the world that makes them so good. This could ruin a well established RPG giant. I hope I'm wrong though, I really do. |

And people though SWTOR and GW2 hype was bad. I'd like to say that I won't hype the shit out of it but... c'mon Elder Scrolls with 3 faction PvP!!! |

Newt: We'd better get back, 'cause it'll be dark soon, and they mostly come at night... mostly. |

Interesting comment "without the shoddy help of a third-party add-on". It was only the third party addons that made the Bethesda games even remotely playable. More bug infested releases I have yet to see from any company, even MS were never that bad. |

Well, I have no idea if TESO will be any good....one thing I can say for certain...I would have LOVED to be a fly on the wall in the corner office in EA/Bioware when they read the anouncement about this.... with everything else they have to worry about, including GW2 launch... I can see it now.. "I sense a deep distrubance in the force....it's as if a billion stockholders all clicked "sell" at once..."

I was excited until I saw "Zenimax Online Studios is making the game"...then I took an arrow to the knee. Bethesda = quality games Zenimax = an almost 5 year old company that hasnt made any games This was a mistake on the part of Bethesda “I hope we shall crush...in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country." ~Thomes Jefferson |

SWTOR hype was bad, and we just survived it lately, GW2 hype is even worse and we dont now yet, if we will survive this hype unscathed. But ESO will become worst case. i am frightened to death .... played: Everquest I (6 years), EVE (3 years) |

While it is Elder Scrolls and all the genre doesn't need another fantasy-themed game. I can forsee this going the way of WAR40K.

Umm... Party 1, parent company Zenimax media Party 2, Bethesda... Party 3, Zenimax Studios A subsidiary is not part of other subsidiaries..Bethesda is located in Rockville Maryland. Zenimax studios is located in IRELAND. The only tie between them is who owns them, what it basically means is that someone in a company got an idea to make an online game and they forced Bethesda to hand over rights to allow it to happen...which is why they are not making it themselves, they didnt think it was a good idea. Need I remind you of Fallout Online, Bethesda went to COURT to maintain control over it. “I hope we shall crush...in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country." ~Thomes Jefferson |

Hard to comment on something as nebulous as this game currently is. Hopefully the design team looks at what works and what does not in the current genre. |

Just because a different studio is making it doesnt mean it will be bad. I think its great news that the head of Zenimax studio is a developer from DAOC. I think it bodes well that the only information about the game they've released so far is the 3 faction system, too. And that Zenimax has been a studio for 5 years without making any games? Hell they've probably been working on this game. We may really see it in 2013. Play as your fav retro characters: cnd-online.net. My site: www.lysle.net. Blog: creatingaworld.blogspot.com. |

On my checklist of things I want from this game is a modding tool hat will allow people to make client side modifications that won't effect the overall balanceo f the game. Being able to make a mod using a tool instead of having to use coding (ala Blizzard) would be amazing. Website: http://www.thegameguru.me / YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/users/thetroublmaker |

This has fail written all over it, I don't see this working out in any way shape or form. The game was built to be a single player game, putting it into an online world just isn't going to work. Will have to see what direction they plan on taking it and see where it goes from there. |

Originally posted by Unlight This is true of Bethesda, however I have no issue with them still using an able community to fix the issues and endorse the mods. If more MMO companies would open the doors to this concept, we might find games like SWTOR more enjoyable for us as individuals.
Mods do not bother me and bug fixes are welcomed by me. I don't care if the developer or the community gets it done, I am just happy that it gets done.
Imagine your favorite MMOs having the fixes created by the community and obviously approved by the developer. This would be the definition of getting @#$% done. Open the doors, fix my MMOs instead of leaving broken content in the game for ages. Nothing turns me off of a game quicker than broken quests and random buggy stuff that remains in the game for months or even years.
Yes Skyrim has bugs and faults but I can always save my game fully aware of what could and does happen. MMOs do not allow this of course so if the community contributes to the fixes then I say go for it. Happy days ahead for me at least. |
