Originally posted by GeezerGamer First...you are wrong. This isn't some special account that only works with the beta client. The beta client isn't somehow special or different from what will be there when the game is released. For online purchases, this is the final key (afaik), for physical pre-purchase, you do have to enter another key that comes with your box, but this is because a boxed copy will come with a code anyways, and there would otherwise be no way to stop people from making a second account or selling the code that comes with the box or whatever. Second...straight from the Email you get for prepurchasing GW2. "Online game codes are non-returnable, non-refundable, and can only be used to create or upgrade one game account." This applies to all online games as far as I know. I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote. |

The guy you quoted was an obvious fan of open world PvP. It's his fault for bad mouthing the zone PvP gameplay of course, but he does have a point in regards to danger from other players while questing in the open world. The game is certainly more casual friendly in this regard. |

Originally posted by Eliandal I was going to say something similar. You can actually ask for your money back, there is just no guarentee that you will get your money back( for the movie reference). Just like you can ask for your money back for GW2 at the moment - there is no guarentee you will get it back at this point. You are a lot more likely to get it back if you present your case now pre-release than if you tried to wait post release as they likely dont want the headaches ascociated with disgruntled players. I have a feeling they are going to sell enough copies to people who actually want to play the game such that they will want to avoid any bad press ascociated with players whining about refunds - although why anyone would prepurchase a game they are not 100% sure about is beyond me really. In my opinion the game pretty much delivered everything the devs said it would be with one exception. I did not notice the event chains to any great extent. I saw a few things happen that caused some teleport portals to shut down untill players went to go fix things, however, all such "events" were on short loops that repeated over and over the same thing very much like the PQ's in warhammer. I did not get much beyond some of the lvl 10 charr area so I probably just have not seen enough of the world to find the true event chains. The world is large with a lot of things to do. I think they are on the right track as to making the world more alive again without a straight linear quest line running you from hub to hub. The player still feels pulled to level appropriate spots which seem limited in the early game without jumping to other race locations - whether this opens up at higher levels remains to be seen. Overall definately worth the $60 with at least 2 to 3 months of good playtime in there and potentially a lot more. |

Its the arctype of a carbear game. that the game is a little hard in the first few lvl and you die alot means nothing when death is so forgiving as it is. its a care bear game, and I like that it is. read how to create a succesfull mmo before posting about GW2. And read tao of ArenaNet before talking about innovation in GW2 |

Im not jumping on any bandwagon. I didnt like the fact that gw2 fan boys were trashing swtor cause it just seemed silly, note I beta that one as well and do not play it. I found that all the hype you people put out is rather infantile as you act as if this game is something ground breaking...Well it is if you consider it stole a ton of concepts from about 12 games I can think off the top of my head and put them together...But hey thats ok bringing concepts others may enjoy is a good idea, however having people become these rabid dogs bashing anyone who doesnt share their view is rather silly and reminds me of the whole conservative v liberal debate. As for game play wise I was hoping for something else. It reminded me way to much of dynasty warrior with a nanny holding my hand the whole way. The learning curve for this game was a rather ummm nonexistant. Now I will say having some features that are familar were great and rather fun however in here the way it was done just left me feeling well let down. If you like the game awesome, great, just I felt it didnt live up to the hype and found it not worth the price. Maybe when its comes down to 30 bucks I will play it but till then well sorry folks just not worth it. Oh and the rumors of pay 2 win that are going around. I hope this isnt true. So there is my 2 cents. No strong words no insults, even after a few of you could not do so.

I you hate GW2 for some inexplicable reason.....why not just be honest and say so instead of making up an elaborate fabrication?
I certainly didn't cancel my pre-order, since I pre-purchased and the game exceeded my expectations. President of The Marvelously Meowhead Fan Club |

No, I am pretty sure the beta client is different than the final product. When the game releases, if your currently installed Beta client auto updates and runs the live game after release, then I'll admit my mistake. As for point number two, since I didn't pre purchase, I'll have to take your word for it, but I was going off the other posters response who said there was no such language. Anyway, I'll operate assuming your are speaking the truth, That being said, then yeah, No refunds....Buyer beware. I think it's pretty slick marketing on ANet, but yeah, if it's what's said, so be it. But I do have one question. How is it that when people have said they paid for beta and didn't get it, Everyone here is overwhelmingly saying..."You paid for the game, not the beta!" So beta didn't equal the game in that case, But now that Someone who was in beta wants a refund, They don't deserve it because they used the game. Which is which? Is being in beta getting the game or isn't it? If the conversation turned "Tit-for-Tat", and I've stopped posting, Consider it your win. |

Originally posted by GeezerGamer Heya Geezer. The client we have now will simply be updated as we go along. For all intents and purposes, we have the game itself even though it's only the beta content at this time. The updating is automatic.
People saying they paid for the beta and didn't get it... not sure about that. Some are saying that GameStop, for example, gave them preorder keys (1 day headstart, no beta) instead of pre-purchase keys. If that's true, GameStop has some 'splainin' to do.
Being in the beta is being in the beta. Pre-purchasing the game is getting the game as well as access to all betas. There are also beta keys being given out that do not give access to the released game when it's live. |

At first, disappointed because I could not even connect.
But when I finally managed to play a little, my attitude has changed dramatically ... game is great, everything they promised <span alt-edited"="">is in :) One problem with beta is bothering me ... It is over, I want more! |

Originally posted by -Zeno- Here, here! I'm an old Shadowbane player and have been disappointed with all mmorpgs since the severs shut down. I tried Darkfall for a bit, but lost interested in it. The Beta weekend was refreshing and even though the instant PvP was alright, the WvW was great I thought, that is when I could get in it, lol. But it's was a beta stress test so no biggie for me. I think I'll enjoy this game, time will tell. |

Honestly, I am a lot less skeptical than I was before I read everyone's posts. I still, however, have some unanswered questions, that will probably not be answered until game's release. If the conversation turned "Tit-for-Tat", and I've stopped posting, Consider it your win. |

Only reason I am holding off is the end game feels like "been there..done that" to me. Alot of you might think I am trolling, but this feels like Aion to me with dyanamic events. Everything I see described about end game just sounds like Aion where I will sit on my thumb twiddling it waiting for something to do.
The pvp was shit, but the end game was 5 mans and that was it. |
