I have seen a lot of hype and anticipation being thrown around the forums about AA. It does look cool and sandboxy and will probably be a fun game. But I have been reading the dev blogs about Pathfinder Online and this sounds like a sweet game in the making. Sure they are still in the early stages of planning and maybe start coding soon, but from what they are promising it sounds like it will be similar to AA only probably better. PO will be a sandbox style game and rely on players to create the majority of the content. Lots of harvesting, processing, crafting, adventuring...player made structures, forts, and settlements...which can evetually become a player run kingdom battling it out with other kingdoms or creating alliances. Harvesting sites, buildings, etc. will have to be protected by players from mobs and pc's. The player based economy will be a big force in the game. I encourage anyone to read up about this game. I think it sounds better then AA. I believe the website is goblinworks.com. I am wondering what other people think of PO and how it will compare or compete with AA. |

Its better to be quiet and perceived as stupid, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. |

I'm actually watching Pathfinder Online like a hawk, but they're still essentially in conceptual phase with it, at least if their extensive blog entries are anything base opinions on. Too early to say how it will fare compared to other MMOs.

I will go with the one that offfers me a PvE server... I hate traditional MMO PvP that is lvl/ gear/ gank dependent (and actually not very 'hardcore' at all when you really look at it). I also need to play games that don't have the modern PvP culture... it's borderline autistic in it's attitude to people and the game and I don't want to spend my leisure time surrounded by that anymore. No optional PvP = No sale. |

OP, you lost me at hype. People need to just drop the whole playing the hype card. It's a turn off.

Originally posted by Vesavius I think you are stuck with no sale then. I followed AA for a while in the beginning then as soon as they introduced this blood/jail system I stopped. And I think I read PF will be ffapvp which is why I didn't even start following it. |

Originally posted by Venger I understand this. But I also think there are ways to get into a middle ground that would be very acceptable to most players who feel the way you do (not saying you, I don't know). But it needs to be something that proves out to work, not just a talking point. Once upon a time.... |

A promise and a design is NOT a game. A good design can be ruined by bad implemention. |

XL have talked about altrernate rules servers for the game at launch... just HOW alternate is the question... we shall see :) SOMEONE needs to turn their brain on and start catering for the PvE sandbox crowd though :/ |

Originally posted by Amaranthar There really is no middle ground on a issue like this. You either have seperate servers, seperate areas or a flag system. If you try to create a overly complicated if/then formula it will just fustrate people. Plus finding work arounds woudl become a game for the griefing legions. |
