If you pre-ordered, you wouldn't had been in the beta unless you were selected for beta in the original beta sign-up. So how would the beta make any impact on a decision to cancel for all those who pre-ordered (not to be confused with pre-purchased?) I wasn't trying to make any assumptions toward those who pre-purchased, my appologies. |

Considering they had to stop selling prepurchases prior to the beta (they had reached their maximum quota of player for the BWE) and that ONLY a prepurchase guaranteed you access to the beta, im hightly suspicious of posts that claim that made it to the BWE with a preorder. I dont say its impossible, just highly unlikely, like winning the lottery. All the posts that ive readen of people that claim having gained entry to past BWE without having purchased the game have been negative so far. Even more suspicious are the posts that claim "i played the BWE with my cousins beta key" or something like that. You dont play an mmo with you cousins beta key unless you are no older than 14. Thats a well known law of physics.

Originally posted by -Zeno- The thing to remember here is that this is a BETA! it was a chance to test out the servers, staff to get experience, CS to get experience and a learning curve for Anet to make sure they get it right on release. also to wet our tastebuds and give us a chance to play after all this time which is excellent. so remember that was not the finished product. thanks azza |

Pre-bought but glad I did. It's an outstanding game. Sure I'd been looking for something fresh and completely different after the last ten years of 3rd person, hotbar bashing MMOs and it's not a wildly new format. However, it does enough things new and has that touch of beauty, care and attention put into. No game is ever likely to completely satisfy one person's needs (a lot of self-entitled solopsists on these forums forget that) but this game ticks enough of my boxes to be worth a fair stab.

I highly doubt you were just curious about this but I have my suspicions that you were hoping for a particular outcome.
Ironically only like 3% as of now are going to cancel their preorder. More than half have chosen answer B. To keep their preorder. Which pretty much proves all of those people wrong who were spreading lies that the game has not been well recieved. |

We can cancel our pre-orders? How?

Well using this poll as a indicator...Already 11% of the potential fanbase will be passing on GW2 and we have only experienced the first beta weekend. You can expect the retention rate to continue to dip the closer and closer we get to release, then take a huge nose dive a month or two after release.

Never pre-ordered because its sily expensive, and after testing in closed beta for few few weeks im glad i didnt cave into the hype.
I may pick it up after release if i can find it cheap enough..

Considering how many posts I've seen 'Oh god, horrible game, cancelled my preorder!' by people who earlier posted 'I will never buy this game, much less preorder it', I'm assuming that at least half ot that 5% are people who are lying. So uh... not really missing those people. ... but whatever helps you sleep at night, man. :) |

I see what you did there OP. Flamebaiting is not cool you know! How many people actually preordered the game? Most people prepurchased the game so it's a done deal. In the UK you can't preorder the game. Anyways you all seem to measure the success of GW by your stupid and naive MMO standards. This game doesn't have a sub so you will not know how many even play the game. It's all about selling those boxes. Bethesda sold 10m copies of Skyrim (probably a lot more now). Does anyone know how many people still play the game? |

Hilarious. This poll is clearly biased against GW2. 3 out of the 4 answers are pretty much against GW2. Yet over 60% of the responses are B. Yet somehow, even against overwhelming odds in this poll, you have managed to transform a vastly positive majority into some kind of prediction of doom. Well done. Lets be more realistic shall we? Now that the beta was out you can expect this majority (represented here) to spread the word. Increasing the player base. You can also expect all the positive press to increase the player base (its rated as the number 1 MMO by every single major review site out there for 2012). You can expect the player base to be far greater than this as well sense here we are talking only about those who preordered. Which is going to be maybe 20% of the community? The player base will then grow exponentially on release due to..well..being released and all of the positive review scores. You can expect the game to continue to grow after that since it is being geared to be a major e-sport much like SC2. Not only that but this is not a subscription game. So nobody ever really leaves. They jump in and jump out whenever they feel like it. How you got your prediction that the preorders would dwindle anymore than this is beyond me. The people that are keeping their preorders (the vast majority) have already experienced and loved the game in its roughest state. Why would they cancel on the next beta? or the following? makes no sense. If anything the numbers would only grow sense those people are now spreading the word. You know your logic is off. I know you know it because you are an educated human being.
I'd also like to point out that this is the most negative forum on the planet. If all you guys can muster is 11% here, good luck on your crusade. Still though people don't seem to be an accurate indicator for anything these days. Both SWTOR and WoW have resoundingly negative polls. More negative than positive. The worst I think was when I saw WoW had a 4% and SWTOR had like 3% of the answers in their favor. This is actually incredible that an MMO has done this well in a poll, especially one that was clearly hoping for a more negative response. |

Originally posted by grimfall Dont expect the price for the game to change anytime soon. The game has no sub fee so the devs only make money on the box price. Their philosophy is to keep selling boxes at a premium price rather than charge sub fees. They will also charge premium prices for the expansions when they come out and maintain those prices for a long period of time. There is defintely $60 worth of content in the game right now. I expect that to do a reasonable amount of the pve content will take an average player 2 to 3 months with one character and with the other races and zones ascociated with those races you can extend that out several more months at least. Add in the WvWvW stuff and you have 6+ months worth of content at release. How far will the game last beyond that is anyone's guess at this time. |

I don't preorder games. Got disappointed too often.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 265 episodes) Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes) |
