Not to beat a dead horse, but this was the first MMORPG that I stoped playing two weeks into the first month. I just lost all interest and desire to continue. I'm a huge SW fan, scifi fan and BW fan. There are parts of it that are fun, but the environment is very steril and repetative. Part of appeal to me is feeling like I'm in a living breathing SW universe and that wasn't there.

It's funny but in the real world this is how people experienced the environments in SWTOR. On the SWTOR official forums they praise the world design and piss and moan about any suggestion of making the worlds more lively. I have battled against the Flat Earth guys over there who don't want Day/Night cycles because they like the lighting the way it is. It amazes me.

What amazes you? That there are actually people out there who like the game the way it is or the fact that there are people who don't like random changes to their world?

By the way, I'm all for day/night cycles and don't understand why it wasn't implementd, but I can see the other side's viewpoint. Some people just love familiarity all the time.

NGE killed SWG. Get over it like the rest of us did in 2005.

Well its finally here swotr in israel, sure many of u cant care less but tbh i had high hopes for this game before all the crappy announcements:

1. origin.

2. no release in israel and many other countries on launch.

Time passed and when all the information started to flow about how disappointing the game is i even was relieved and almost forgot all about it (guild wars 2 had a lot to do with that). Then suddenly today i get notified that swtor is available in my region.

The sad truth is if i could get it on launch day i would have but now hell no.

Your most fortunate.  The vast majority of the consumer market probably purchased it because they wanted to experience it, not because of the grossly irresposible hype and scores from advertising sites.  Again, perhaps the majority of consumers, as witnessed on metacritic, left and significantly down-voted TOR because of the sheer lack of massively-multiplayer content.  Now, as with WAR, the plans for mass server merges begin.

Just be patient for GW2, as is probably your plan.

Honestly, how long do you think people will play GW2 before they move onto something else?  I'm guessing a week max when you can get max level in less than a week.

Release a game with a very large established fanbase from 10+ years of bnet history when the market was still emerging and the casual base had not yet been established, thus ripe for harvesting a momentious self perpetuating playerbase people never leave because they have X hours invested in their characters, and their friends and everyone else plays anyway. Not discounting Blizzard quality... but WoW's success is as much about perfect timing as it is quality, if not more so. - Derros

Someone set us up the bomb

If you treat the game like Kotor 3 (prelude) w/ the option to party with others for access to group content then your good for a few months, it's great.

If you expect a good mmo that will keep you locked in for 6+ months you will most likely be disappointed.

I lasted for 2 months.

Space combat is fun the first 10 times. That's it.

Your companions do all the "crafting" missions etc so it made it feel even more impersonal.

Shame they had to shut down SWG for this.

Honestly, how many MMOs can you play for longer than 6 months?  I've played quite a few and only encountered four that kept my interest for that long.

I see, well I was basing my estimate off of actual people's accounts of getting to level 30-40 in one weekend.  I wasn't pulling these numbers out of nowhere.  And typically, a large majority of people leave once they reach peak level.

I find your estimate laughable. Any sane person would.

I also find the evidence that you use to support the estimate to be lacking.

I think it's an ok MMO probably worth the box price, however, ultimately dissapointing.

Two to three months tops for this game is about all you can expect.  I really wanted to like this game for a long time to come, it being sci fi and star wars (so sick of fantasy MMO's) but I don't know how you could play it through to 50 more than twice...thanks to the linear one way lvling path.

I would have no complaints if this game had a B2P model.  I just felt paying a sub for a game I hated the multiplayer aspect of was asking a bit much.

You're really going to make me copy and paste because you're too damn lazy and trollish to believe me?  Fine.  From these very forums:

From thread "What level did you get to?"

saurus123: "level 30 human ranger"

Vannor: "I got to 18 this weekend but played very very little, about 8-10 hours. In the previous beta weekend I got to 32."

gaenprayor: "30 here, halfway to 31 before the weekend ended but by 30 I stopped bothering, any exp I got after that point was from PvP and the finale event."

moosecatlol: "I may have been level 34, but Furion Ticklepits was easily a level 81 legendary boss."

---

So why is my estimate laughable again?
