The guardian is the one I wanted to start with at launch so I began with it during the beta event to see if i would really like it. it was awesome, i felt like a tank and was able to help heal others at the same time. I knew I would like that class. What I didn't expect was to change my mind about which profession I wanted to play at launch. I actually liked the ranger a lot more! for pvp especially, the ranger was amazing at hitting hard and evading damage. Pets were a plus :)
Has anyone's opinions about the classes changed over the weekend like mine did? |

Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this. |

Well, I was unsure going in, but I rolled engineer... and loved it. I tries warrior, ranger, and elementalist as well, which were all fine, but yeah I am sold on my rifle and turrets :)

Was always gonna go thief and loved it, it will be my main. I was pleasantly surprised with the necro. I've never been able to stay interested in ranged classes but necro was a killing machine. |

Started out with a mesmer, but I am not so sure if I actually like it that much in GW2 compared to GW1 :/ even though my mind was set on mesmer, I tried out warrior as well and Warriors seems to have some really fun combat going for it..
Gotta love them rifles ! ;P |

yeah. i mostly played the guardian, and the profession blew my mind. every weapon is viable in pvp, traits are an awesome way to specialize, and im definitely rolling Norn guardian on release. i settled on staff + sword/focus for pvp. lots of control, mobility, buffs, and the sword does amazing dps. mace/board and staff for pve. the one prof i didnt care for initially was the thief, but i fell in love with my gf's thief...the mechanics are so cool =) |

Yeah, I am still sold on Ranger. I tried a necro, deleted the ele. Rangers rock, even if you are stuck using a hand axe when you start.

I avoided the Necro (my launch main) and played a thief all weekend. Had more fun than I expected with it...although that may be because it felt a little overpowered. :)
I will definitely be playing Necro at launch but the Thief is now on my list of alts! |

Thought it would be Mesmer, Thief, Ranger and ended up being Elementalist, Guardian and Warrior. At least my race choice expectation was the same going in and on logout. The Charr are awesome, I love the run animations. Detailed and varied character creation options. Fun sidequests and their area contains the new Hogger; the Flame Legion Shaman. ;)

i started with a guardian as well up to lvl 31, it was a blast! the class is awesome but it lacks a real range weapon i sometimes felt useless when defending keeps from the walls, scepter's range barely makes it to bottom. I also tried engineer mesmer necro and ranger at the mists. I will probably play ranger at the second beta |

I thought I would play mesmer - but during beta I found that it's broken on many levels. Until it's fixed I will go with guardian - which was much more fun than I originally thought. |

I will know at launch. I promised myself not to play a class I wanted to play at launch so I've been playing Guardian, Thief and Engineer this weekend and I had such a blast! It was damn hard not to create the class I really want to play but since I had this much fun with classes I didn't wanna play I can't wait for the next weekend! ^^ (P.S Unload with the Thief and dual pistols looked awesome!) |

Necro and Guardian have always been at the top of my list and they still are but Mesmers are pretty fun (Portal FTW) when there's no framerate drop, Ele conjures rock socks, Warriors rape, Thieves are.... thieves, Rangers can fill your face with poison if you're not careful, and Engineers... didn't get to give them a good go around.
This is not a game. |

No I don't still like my first prof choice. I was going to play mesmer no matter what because of the pinkness. But really I didn't like it much. I didn't like memser much in GW1 either so maybe I was fooling myself thinking I would love it in GW2 pink or no pink. Didn't want to play a necro because I played it so much in GW1 but it seems to be the one I like best. I play ele regularly in GW1 pvp but ele in GW2 in pve at least is not for me. In GW1 my main for the first 4 years was a necro. Also have played warrior throughout GW1 but it wasn't my favourite of prof's. Few years ago I switched my main to ritualist and also play a paragon in pvp as often as I play my ele pvp. Of the prof's I haven't tried I would still like to try ranger but I did not much like it in GW1 so I wonder if I'll like it in GW2. Maybe next BWE I'll give it a try. |

Thought i would play a thief but i didt like em that much, rolled an mesmer and loved it. A solid class in both pve/pvp and a solid melee/range combo. I stayd mostly in WvW and fought smal scale, large scale and 1v1 and i felt mesmer was a valid candidate in all those aspects. Cant wait for this game to get released, it was so much fun. |

I planned to play mesmer and thief on release. And eventually Elementalist because I think it will be powerhouse in WvW
But I decided to play Warrior a bit to get the hang of the game. I found total yawn fest. Than I went to play Elementalist , which was ok I guess. But very vounerable , and more good in groups.
So I returned to my original choice Mesmer Which I found insanely fun , and even bit OP.
Basically melee mobs can not touch you. You can solo anything that does not shoot. Even elites. With kiting. Just kite them and dont get hit. With staff you spawn tens of illusions that all debuff and slowly eat its energy. And the mob just doesnt know what to hit anyway. And if things go bad you can just go invisible and escape...
Other class I wanted to play, and found it to actually be fun is thief. DPS beast , and again can just disappear when things go bad :)
All in all Loved the combat system.

Has anyone's opinions about the classes changed over the weekend like mine did? Not mine. I wanted to be Ranger and my 1st char was Ranger. It will be my main at release (just like in GW1). I always play archer type classes in MMOs, because I love the playstyle. I was pretty happy with my 2nd fave class (Necro) too! |

Well I tried for every class 1st few levels and also PVP so Got to see how it will look at level 80
1) Necro ( Never played in GW1) but in GW2 this one is a killing machine in PVE . In PVP its great but I have mixed feelings. It takes time to place skills that require positioning circles ( I mean time requuired by each player) and in fast action PVP it was a tedious trying t o position the effects all the time.
2) Warrior ( My GW1 favourite) .In PVE I struggled a lot and died a lot felt it was very squishy.I actually got frustrated and gave up and came back later on to try lvl 80 PVP .IN PVP its a rampage machine .1 on 1 I was able to down most of the targets and has lot of good AOE skills
3) Ele - Didnt like it much not interested
4) Engineer - Well designed class and good in PVP with healing and rifle turrets Enjoyed playing PVP and PVE
5) Guardian - in PVE its rolls mobs that come in front of it .Works like a tank as intended and shells out decent DPS. Didnt get time to do PVP
6) Memser - Absolutely loved this class . Devs have put love in this class .You actually feel you are screwing with your targets head. IN PVP its so funny to see warriors chase after illusion ( LOL ) I played as a wariior and in PVP if u come accross a memser in the chaos u just cant figure out which one is illusion .
Over all I want my main to be memser/necro followed by warrior/guardian
