Sigh. I feared as much. Well, that rules me out. Guess I am getting to old for computer games anyway. Holy Trinity who art in our MMORPGs! Blessed be thy speccs, as in WOW so in all MMOs! Our daily loot grant us, and forgive us our noobness, as we forgive the noobs! And do not lead us to disconnects, But deliver us from mediocrity, For thine is the specialization and the teamwork and the endgame, Until cancellation, Amen! |

Originally posted by AvsRock21 I can tell by your post this matters alot to you. It is a video game. It mattes less than how many times a day you take a dump, and that's the truth. Want me to prove you're wrong? Easy, in swtor you're following a rotation, you know what your next attack is as soon as you clicked the first one, and its probably on your bar in order of your rotation, so with the cool down those of us with above a 5 IQ can get to our next ability without having to really think about it. I've played games where keybinding really mattered, DAOC was one, WoW was one, swtor is not one of those games. I know how, just don't need to on swtor. I played about 8 wzs tonight and never fnished outside of the top 3 in medals or dps and the only keys I have bound are strafe on this game because you just don't need to bother with the rest of them. I probably got out of the habit when I played eq2 if I were to play gw2 and decided that I needed to do it to compete I am pretty sure it'd take me all over 2 hours to get back in the habit. I've seen dudes that keybind that suck badly because their target selection is all wrong and they don't know how to play objectives, have a couple in my guild like that, but you know what, at the end of the day it just doesn't matter.....video....game..........Judging from your post you need to go outside more. LOL(look I can laugh at my own jokes too) |

"Keyboard turning and spell clicking are for the bads. If you are going to keep playing like this, I highly suggest you keep playing TOR. At least there you can come across kids playing their first mmo, and have a chance at beating them...lol. " i think the only mmo ive ever played that i havent fully used keybinds in,was sw tor.and thats because i guess some genius at bioware thought it was a good idea to cram a truckload of skills in the game and not put macros in i mean i could understand there stance on macros if the game didnt have a boatload of abilities in it.but it does,so i dont get why there so against macros

Originally posted by KingGator i guess it depends on the people.if its like the star wars the old republic official forum general discussion type people.then gw2 is better off with them uninstalling anyway and being good at an mmo doesnt mean anything.especially when mmos nowadays are made for the casuals, which is why im gonna laugh so hard if gw2 ends up flopping.or they get rid of there dodge system,if i know anything about casuals, its they arent really known for adapating to hard things, and coming from an mmo with the mindset of "stand there, smash 5 keybinds.win"to "oh god,i actually have to think in combat now"is probably going to end up with eather 1.casuals crying everyday about it being to hard to figure out 2.casuals get tired of crying, and make there obligitory "im unsubbing because of dodge"post and arenanet will cave and get rid of it

Originally posted by CrunkJuice2 I don't even know why I care or bothered to respond, the cash shop has me so spooked that I'll likely skip this title. I think the sentiment and that particular player type is what's ruining mmos in my mind and thus I am compelled to comment. |

I agree. I click skills quite a lot, and while I obviously wasn't the highest ranked player in WoW when I played it, I was pretty good at my job because. of. MACROS. I don't know whether they've been implemented into GW2, but even an idiot should be able to formulate a skill macro as long as they have a gaming keyboard. There's no need to have ADHD and pro-reflexes if you've bound your rotation to a couple of buttons. Of course, if that doesn't work, there's always the fact that A HUGE NUMBER OF THE SKILLS ARE AIMED. It's the main reason behind ArenaNet's healing strategy. Nearly all skills that can heal or do AoE damage are aimed using the mouse (as far as I'm aware). And besides, I don't really have the patience or care enough to even try at becoming a high-ranked PvP player. It's honestly not worth my limited playtime to devote my online existence to statistics and rankings. I'll PvP when I want to play some fun PvP, and I'll die when I die. Tough for me that I'm not a hardcore pro. It certainly won't drive me to uninstall. Regardless of the trolls that have been all over these forums the past couple of days, I am of a firm belief that the people who've had the time to post were obviously not good critics. A good critic uses all the time available to play the game until he has reached a conclusion (ie the WHOLE weekend). I have a firm belief that I will enjoy all aspects of the game, and my mouse playstyle certainly won't affect my enjoyment. (PS: Not 100% sure about whether a large amount of skills are aimed. If not, then good for you, you get a bonus point. But I don't particularly care.) |

Originally posted by KingGator you do relize the cash shop in gw2 is only going to sell like cosmetic items right.im more concerned about the dodge system and how that sounds more then the cash shop but i dont know,i heard alot of skills have like.animations you can clearly see and theres ground effects so it sounds kinda like it would be an obvious thing to know when you need to use it |

Originally posted by CrunkJuice2 Well, before the cash shop scared me off due to the beta leak a few weeks back I did a good bit of research. You expressed concern in a previous post that the "casuals" would whine and get the dodge mechanic removed, from what I understand that won't be possible, dodge is central to game play for them as they have no dedicated healers, so it isn't really negotiable that it be removed, and were they to automate it the combat would likely become far too dumbed down to be enjoyable.

So you will win for a while at the beginning of a new game then you will be owned by noobs cuz you think you cant improve anymore. good luck with life

Originally posted by Nightfall31 No, being good at things that are actually important matters. Video games are an escape, mmos are an escape into a fantasy world, being good at it matters not at all. Being good at my career, being able to protect myself and my family, being able to spit some game, and articulate a cogent and rational thought are all examples of things that are actually important. Being able to strafe while pressing G that you might "wtfpwn a noob" is less important than what you're going to have for lunch tomorrow.
PS keybinding doesn't make you an elitist, believing that you are some how better than someone because you may or may not be better at a video game than they are is the worst sort of faux elitism.[mod edit] |
