So it was Thursday at school and a few of my classmates were very eager toward the beta this weekend. They said they would be behind their computer from start to finish and would make movies for me because i chose not to participate, I didn’t even pre-purchase yet(not because I’m not going to buy the game) because I know beta to the ears of many sounds like free play time!!

It isn’t, especially since this was the first open beta. Boy am I glad I wasn’t there, all I’m hearing is couldn’t connect, crash, disconnect, server offline, thrown into random servers etc. Really I’m surprised people still think you’re trying a finished product when it’s called beta, there’s going to be lag, bugs and disconnects that’s what beta means.

I was at a friend’s house to pick up my girlfriend Friday around 12 o'clock midnight and he still wasn’t able to log in, I just said goodbye and good luck.

I’ll be there at a later beta or when guild wars 2 is finally released.

I had this problem with PvP, they're working out the bugs obviously.  I got into a few matches where it was me vs. 3 other players and the game didn't automatically balance so I was forced to either leave or get rolled.

As for the rest, yeah, people are complaining about an unfinished product but what do you expect from our modern spoiled culture?

Only issues I had was on first day and the server crash Saturday. Played smooth and without issue every other time.

People can make excuses why they may not like the game with gameplay but to convince themselves the game sucks because of issues outside of the game (lag, crashes etc) is stupid. Those are the very things targeted for fix in beta weekends. How much improved performance was from Friday to Sunday was quite amazing I thought.

As for the game, I honestly didn't have enough time to get a solid impression worth mentioning. I'll need to play another weekend for sure. The biggest difference in this game for me is having to actually explore to find the content instead of it being spoon fed to you like most wow-clones. I've actually read many complaining here about this sort of thing ... they whine because the game doesn't cater to their laziness. I find that extremely funny.

One thing I will say though is that this game is very much about the action. I am also playing Lotro with some friends right now and I can see why some would not like GW2 because of this. The sense of story and rp right when logging in is done far better in a game like Lotro. This is what I hope to gain a sense of in GW2 once I get to play it more. I hope the lore shines more not too far in game instead of it being just a combat grind. I also have no freaking clue what I class I prefer yet lol.

It depends, on the beggining of beta i couldnt log for 2/3 hours.

After that, dont know if they did something or not but played the rest of the weekend just enjoying the game with no problem at all.

I find it hard to grasp how people can complain about lag/crashes and such during beta event (this goes for all games). My 12 year old son seems to have a better understanding about this than most adults do. The game crashed a few times on my son this weekend and not once did he moan or cry... he just picked up his book and read until he could log back on.

Opening up tickets in-game about crashes and lag is fine because this is good info for the Devs but people posting on forums about how sucky the game is because they crashed a couple of times or it took them a little longer to log in DURING a beta event just boggles the mind.

PS. This is not a rant against the OP, just a rant in general.
