Was playing WoW, excited for GW2, possibly TERA, and haven't been playing too many non-MMO's in the last while. Cue the D3 open beta, and now it's all I can think about. I can't stop looking it up during my time on the computer, and have absolutely zero interest in any other games. I played TERA open beta during that same weekend and couldn't play it for more than 45 minutes if that before I had the itch to get back to D3. Now I just won't bother with it. I also logged into WoW after the weekend and was like "meh" and then logged out and haven't been back on since. Dammit, back to watching and discussing the same content over and over again during this long ass wait to May 15th. It's hell, I tells ya!! ;) Anyone else feel the same at the moment? |

I'm pretty much in the same boat. Playing DCUO but not nearly as in to it as I was D3. 2 and a half more weeks...

I have to agree that D3 holds more promise than any of the past or upcoming mmos. Yes, yes I know it's not an "open world" mmo but it competes for mmo play time among the PC gaming player base. It's pretty much the only slam dunk pre order in PC gaming (along with Skyrim last fall). Can't go wrong here.

The king and the pawn go back to the same box at the end of the day. |

Yeah Diablo is probably the best most simplistic games series ive ever played. Theres so many intricate details in the games when all you do is use 2 little clicky buttons. Pretty awesome. |

Yeah I passed up gw2 in favour of d3, an mmo is an mmo not matter how they dress it up and I'm done with mmos for a while, d3 genuinely feels fresh and different. Two weeks can't wait.

Same here. I think everyone I know at work tried the beta with me and they all say the same thing...They cant play any of their other games because they just want to play Diablo 3 now. We only have about 2 weeks to wait so it will be here before we know it. See you all there!!!

I passed on the OB on purpose. I want the game to be fresh, live, and shiny when first login!

THIS is the first game in 10 years I am actually hyped for because it is soooo simple and yet soooo complex that it is going to be challenging especially in HC. I stopped EQ2 sub since there is no challenge as getting to 90. Did it in under 4 days played and ZERO deaths. No group activity possible since no one is willing to HC their character. If EQ2 were to put in a HC server then I may have reversions but now that I was in OB of D3 it will take a lot of convincing to go back to a MMORPG.
HC = challenge to me. Some may not understand this but I bet those people playing HC can. :)

I'm currently playing SWTOR because I'm a SW nerd, However I have always loved the Diablo series and I concur to it's potential addiction factor.

I feel the same way, but you know what I'm REALLY finding difficult? Playing Diablo 2. Not just because of the graphics, but the UI, attribute points, skill trees, bnet interface, etc. It all just seems so clunky now. Well, that and all the ****ing goddamn ****sucking mother****ing gold spammers don't help things either. I didn't realize that last bit had gotten so bad in the years since I'd last played. It's making me rethink my stance on the RMAH a bit, that's for sure. If it eliminates that crap it might not be so bad.

Agreeing completely. Was excited for Tera. Was excited for GW2. Diablo3 was a bit of a shock. I kinda kept up with the process, but wasn't expecting much out of it. After playing the open beta, the game is all I can think about now. Tera, GW2, etc are a distant thought. I'm actually not even going to play Tera anymore, lol. I played all 5 classes to max level in Open beta, decked them out and still wasn't bored of making repeated runs to the SK just to own some face. |

D3 allows you to log in at any time and advance your character. You can do any content you want without lockouts. Those are two things that MMOs refuse to give us.

Originally posted by Coated Exactly like me! I followed it very sporadically, and I didn't even realize that there WAS an OB weekend until the Saturday it was going on. lol Then I logged in and played with my cousin through the first go, and it was ridiculously fun, and I played the rest of the weekend I wasn't working. Which unfortunately wasn't a ton, but I managed to get Barb to 12, DH to 10, and I got Monk and Wizard to 6-8. If I had it now still, I'd probably still be playing up until closed beta ends on May 1st. :p |

Absolutely with you Gajari, except my two MMOs were Rift & SWTOR when the OB of Diablo III hit. I haven't logged in to them since and cancelled my subs. I thought they would at least be something to last me until D3 released, but it just doesn't feel the same at this point. I am messing around with a couple other ARPGs instead that offer a similar experience to D3 until May 15th. The funny thing is I wasn't interested in D3 before last weekend. It was just a fluke that I got the invite and said, "sure, why not?". Very glad I did.
I'm also glad Blizzard didn't just duplicate D1 or D2 with an upgraded look. I didn't care for either so I would've just gone straight back to Rift/SWTOR on Monday and not thought twice about it. PoE & Titan Quest will have to hold me over till 5/15 instead because they at least give me some practive with similar mechanics and they are great games in their own right. |

Good point. The only thing I wonder about here is how I've heard even playing alone will require being online with battle.net? How is that going to work exactly? Sorry I don't know the details... I haven't played much of any prior Diablo or any other battle.net game outside of WoW.
Regardless, I hope a few MMO developers see this. There are several better directions that upcoming MMOs can take other than the recently popular F2P conversion. The obvious mechanics that just slow people down so we'll play it longer is also becoming some of the least desirable traits in any MMO (like raid lockouts, tedious mob grinding, boring professions, etc.). |

Originally posted by IrishChai Basically, from the moment you open up the game, you're online and can't do anything offline. Even when single player with no other players around, you're gonna be online. Just like when you first log into whatever MMO you play. If you can't get online, you can't play the game. |

There don't seem to currently be any MMOs in development or existance that have really what I'm looking for in them, so I'm in a pretty similar boat here. Diablo 3 has effectively cured my interest in MMOs for the time being.
