And enjoying it. Not even in instances, in normal pve.Maybe its because im playing engineer and they are supposed to be extra squishy, but Ive noticed tht when ive been playing 2-3 hours non stop and my concentration tend to wavers i tend to go down once..and again,... and again. Ive played a lot of mmos and ive never been so hammered by normal mobs. And its obviously because concentration matters. You need to pay attention to wht you are doing or you are going to die as soon as you pull an extra mob or something funny happens To all the people who are posting about combat being easy mode ...are we playing the same game? I cant remember last time i got killed doing normal pve on wow. To Anet: please dont water this down. I guess it becomes harder later (i dont even want to think about explorable dungeons) There are already people asking for dedicated healers. Stay true to your original vision. |

True that. I just did the Fire Shaman stuff in the Charr area, dear lord. It was at least 30 of us, and he was kicking out asses. Such a good fight. |

I agree and this is by no means bragging but i think its not even that hard its just learning how to dodge wel and dont rush in to fast know when to back off a little. When its a real challenge then its fun not the EZMODE in other mmo's thats aweful and boring.

Originally posted by freston I can't remember the last time I played a game that was hard even while leveling. If you're not paying attention you will go down. Hell, even if you are paying attenion and bite off too much you're going down. And that Shaman in the Char leveling zone kicking people's asses put my concerns to rest that when the game launches people will just zerg through all the DEs. "Loading screens" are not "instances". |

Originally posted by Purgatus That fight....I downed about 20 times, died about 8...the big problem is one of his aoe attacks doesn't seem to have a "tell" so you jsut have to hope you aren't in the area when it hits. Or there's a graphics bug. |

Agreed. It is a game that requires concentration for most battles and movement is KEY.
BTW, there is probably a /deaths command just like GW. We should post that here and see how ppl are doing. |

Yeh, I don't usually die much in games, if at all (soloing pve I mean) ... not in GW2! I hope Anet doesn't change this overall, but I do have two specific comments: - storyline quests can be a bit much 4/6 mobs your level, in an ambush, in an enclosed space can be frustrating - Some mobs' aoe or "insta death" skills need better or clearer visual cues imho. |

I really like the massacre what some event does. Even if I die. It feels like a real battle this way.

Originally posted by Purgatus that one gets insane with a lot of ppl.. holy hell. He also gets really glitchy if you pull him out of the cave. Only time I have died repeatedly is to him, 1 part of my personal story which I think is bugged and ticketed it and then this guy
Mostly because the adds HURT! lol

I wonder how long this is enjoyable. I never found dying a lot in any MMO interesting before, and usually that was a sign for a hardcore game for a small niche. While I respect some people love the hardship, I just don't see that being something very popular these days, and NO I don't think ANet can presuade the masses to return to past days MMO habits, muchachos. Even if you love it... I REALLY have doubts this makes GW2 very popular. I just can't imagine that. Not to speak of the absurd repair costs you amass over time. Holy Trinity who art in our MMORPGs! Blessed be thy speccs, as in WOW so in all MMOs! Our daily loot grant us, and forgive us our noobness, as we forgive the noobs! And do not lead us to disconnects, But deliver us from mediocrity, For thine is the specialization and the teamwork and the endgame, Until cancellation, Amen! |

Originally posted by Elikal Think the worst repair cost I've seen so far was ~1 silver, for somone with ALL items broken. It's actually not that bad.
The difficulty can be a pain...I recently ran into a personal story quest that's nearly unsoloable, and that's bugging me...but hopefully that can be tweaked in the places where it's TOO hard.
I want challenging and tough, not outright impossible. It's a fine line. Thankfully I don't feel the game crosses it very often.

I don't die nearly as much as my pet does. Ranger pets need a serious boost.

Just came across the first really tough event in the human area. It was after the bandits destroyed the water pipes near the start area, we were repairing them and got 2 repairs, but it took 30+ mins to fix the last one because of waves of level 5-6 bandits spawning constantly and everyone being scaled down to level 4. It was very tough and bloody. The Enlightened take things Lightly |

Good post OP! Challenge is the name of a good rpg, add MMO and it is even better.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not. |

Originally posted by freston Practice dodging and timing. As an engineer this is your best friend. I love my engineer. It plays so much differently than anything i've ever played. I do love how I get owned though. YOu have to think, even about little mobs. I have this setup, where I have a tv in my computer room. Ther'es no cutting hte tv on during this game. I'm so used to MMOs where i click on something watch tv "oh stand here" okay then click again. Yeah, GW2 will not go for that. |
