This is the BEST beta event I have ever attended. Game needs a little refining, but honestly.... its the first beta open to the masses and its going GREAT. I made a Human Thief first.... let me tell you, had more fun in the opening starter zone than I did over the 7 years playing WoW combined. The whole quest starting from defending the garrison to killing the elemental was absolutely amazing. There were 4 other people there and we instantly turned into a group without even managing it, helping out each other, was a perfect experience for how an MMO should be handled.
Others have been saying they are having log in issues and crashes? Ive been playing since yesterday.... no crashes.... no login issues..... nothing. Maybe some queue time wait but thats it. Nothing major.
In all, im having a GREAT time in this beta and its really impressing me!

Technically, it's still in closed beta. :)

agreed, cant put the game down. im in love with the world and my Norn guardian. honestly, the game just needs optimizations. even though ive been running it quite smoothly. unfortunately, i think too many people (on these forums anyway) are too butthurt by the perfomance issues to appreciate the huge positives about the game. oh well, back to Tyria for me o/ |

Agreed, it is pretty awesome. So much to do and I'm having a blast. People who complain about issues in a beta are just ignorant.

Good to see people enjoying it, i was starting to think the game was the evil itself from the first posts that came out.

Sadly, I am one of the aforementioned people unable to login. Keep getting an error code. I did get to play for like 3 hours yesterday, but now I have spent about that same amount of time sitting here on the forums while I press the login button and restart GW2 every 5 minutes to see if I can get in.

Plus, A lot of people are still using Commodore 64 computers to try and play it with. If you want a good experience, then go buy a decent rig instead of bitching and complaing that your rig just SUCKS..

The game is fun but ... please peronal opinion or not - a little objectivity. You can read about all troubles people have been having.

Have to agree with the OP. Played almost all of the AAA MMO's and this has been the best for me so far. The game is exactly as I expected based on the videos and available information prior to this weekend. The DE's that I've participated in were such a blast I had to force myself to stop doing the same ones over and over and move on to other areas. Players are working together and cooperating, which you seldom ever see in the starter areas of any other MMO's. Usually it's one big free for all competition over killing the same quest mob spawns. No more of that crap, thank goodness. The graphics look just like the videos that Anet and the media have been showing and I'm surprised people are critical of them. To each their own I guess. They did a great job with the environment and animations. I hated the original GW animations, but these are top-notch. The skill execution requires thought rather than mindless button mashing, and I love being able to pick and choose which skills I want instead of being locked into some skill tree with half of the abilities being fillers trying to get to the good ones. Combat is actually interesting instead of just standing there trading blows with the mobs. You have to move around and avoid attacks or you'll die. It was funny listening to the WoW nubs complaining because they were dieing a lot. Great job Anet! MMO games would be pretty cool if it weren't for the people. |

I have to agree, I'm loving it! So far WvW was so much fun. Despite my server losing (Moredune Shoutout!) because we were outnumbered by the other server, it was a great deal of fun. Staying on the move, sieging this or that, calling orders out, people working together to push or defend. It was great. And the PvE is pretty cool too. I'd runo ut of money in WvW buying Siege equipment and a hefty Repair bill, so I'd switch over to PvE and do some events to get some money, repair and upgrade my stuff, then head back out to WvW. The great thing is in both the PvE and PvP area you're always the same level as the content and always gaining exp. So if I left PvE at lvl 8 to go do WvW I'd get bumped up to lvl 80 with lvl 80 base stats. Armor and weapons don't get a boost, and you only know whatever skills you've learned so if you haven't lvled your weapons you're going to be gimped, not useless but not particularly amazing either. But after an hour or so playing in WvW I'd go back to PvE and I'd be lvl 10, but I could pick up where I left off because my "effective level" would be lowered to match the content. I'd be a wee bit stronger because of the experience I'd gained in WvW, but not enough to make the content pointless. And such is the way of my life in Tyria, getting a few levels in PvE then switching to WvW then back to PvE and I'm loving it.
Not to mention, I've said it before and I'll say it again, the community is just amazing. Everyone there is dedicated and excited about the game. Beacuse everyone has already commited to buying the game, there is no one there, who doesn't want to be there. Sure there is the occasional troll but all in all the experience has been amazing. --- Live a life less ordinary. |

I have to agree with the positive sentiments im seeing here. My doctor just informed me in fact, that my cancer is in full remission as of last nights MRI results. Its starting to look like Arenanet has put oncologists out of work. Also my hair is alot fuller and ive been asked to do enzyte commercials since beta started as well (though i might need to consult another doctor about my 26 hr erection, im so lightheaded).

Originally posted by kalimah Love it!!!... and it's absolutely true.. This is as optimised of a game as is ever going to come out from now on. And it is absolutely rediculous that the odd individual is blaming the game especially given that the minimum requirements were publicised everwhere including on systemrequirementslab.com. |
