I personally find the combat to be quite fun but you do have to find the combo of weapons that fits you and that means a lot of unfun unlocking of the weapon skills which usually takes me to about level 6-7. Take the guardian (my current class). I'm combining the greatsword with a scepter + focus combo. The greatsword has the gap closer, plus the aoe pull enemies to me ability and has a nice aoe attack. I can combine that with the ice sword skill (2 skill points) which attacks your enemies and has an on use aoe ability. That takes care of any weak packs of enemies. Then for tough enemies I swap over to the scepter + focus and dodge about using those weapons to bring my enemy down. My dodging isn't great because playing from asia with 300+ latency, but its good enough to avoid most big enemies one-shot attacks. The Enlightened take things Lightly |

Yea it really is the combat in this game. Both PvE and PvP is just awkward.
Spiritsever - AR/Ele - The Secret World Ashmaker - Ranger < Prophets > - Age of Conan - #1 in Kills Sweety - Sorceress < Infinite Darkeness > - SWTOR - 2.6K PvP Rating ??? - Pilot - ??? - EVE Symir - Swordmaster - Warhammer - RR100 Dreadnaught - Rogue - Rift |

Originally posted by Rivalen but the idea was that personal story was to be instanced lol so why complain about it when it comes into the game lol plus they have always said it was going to be pve and pvp not a pvx world lol so isnt it just a lack of info going into the game, rather than coming out all disheartened |

Who are you from Darkfall? I've been playing Darkfall since beta but quit a few months ago and am considering picking up GW2 to get back into MMOs.. Really would like to try the beta weekend though >.< |

Originally posted by mmorpgmaner I was Echelon Cocytus, in beta I was in some small guild allied with Hyperion (Hilarious) and in NA server I was in Dominion until I quit a few months ago, can't deal with the ray cycling and rampant cheating now. It had it's prime but it's over unless this 2.0 messiah is anything worth a damn. If you were asking the OP who he was, I don't know. ^^ Awaiting - Darkfall: Unholy Wars |

Originally posted by sidhaethe You create a character, for example a human, you enter the game world, are told to talk to an npc, who tells you to go to the inn, you go to the inn, the npc there tells you to go to someone else, you go over there, event starts, you kill mobs, advance event, kill mobs, and are transported from that instance to another one (loading screen number 1), you go outside, talk to an npc, view the map, go to where there is stuff to do, kill mobs, get mail, which tells to go see someone, and you have to change zone and enter a city (loading screen number 2), run through it and change zone into another area to talk to the npc from the mail (loading screen number 3). And that is just in the first 2/3 levels of play, which takes all of 15/20 minutes, if that. If you claim you did not experience a single loading screen, then I have to call BS. And I've played so far to level 11 and have no idea what you're talking about unless it's your personal story. I didn't experience any instances beyond that up to this point. Perhaps there's some confusion as to what an INSTANCE is, because Queensdale (the human starting zone) doesn't have any "instances" and that is where the quests ARE except for not all of your personal story. Your personal story has multiple instances in it.

I know it´s just a beta, but I'm disappointed. I think TERA is far better than GW2.

Originally posted by Satcho I played TERA 3 times in 3 different CBTs. The first play through on the island was tolerable and somewhat fun. But the 2nd and 3rd time doing the exact same fetch quest missions got boring fast. To the point I cant play the game because I cant get through that starter island for the first 10 or so levels. I start then the 'Been there, done that' sets in and interest is lost. I had the same fear with GW2. If I played what I wanted to use at release in beta, I was afraid that the content would be boring and I wouldnt want to play through it again. But having put in like 8-10 hours in the beta I can now see how I WONT have that problem. There are so many different things to do I can easily see each experience as being different - even though I would have to do the same personal stories. There is enough 'randomness' to allow multiple playthroughs in the same zone. Hell, I havent even found out how to get to the next adjacent zone and Im having a ball looking for it. To me, thats the sign of a good game. |

Developers forgot what made mmos special. Until we get that back the genre wont move forward. |

The good part is you can make any race you want, and move to any other races starting zone and level their instead of your own. My girlfriend rolled a human and I had a Charr and I moved over to DR after the initial part to level there. Can easily move back and forth between zones as I had to go back to IC for my class story, costs you nothing more than a few copper and makes rolling the same race on multiple toons all the less painful.

Originally posted by Snoepie What class did you play? i played a thief and there is no way you could hack&slash with it. You need more than 5 level to even begin to grasp the combat and movement, i'm sorry i can't take your comment seriously, you don't even have your 3 first skills at level 5. |
