So i manage to get in for couple of minutes yesterday ( like 40/50 orso)
Got my char up to level 5 and im currently experience the following: downs: ( for me atleast) - the game is heavy instanced, the "pve world" is not open world.. like i said i manage to get my char to lev5 orso and i encountered like 7/8 instances.. - cutscenes.. - there is no open world pvp, its bascily the same as gw1.. pve world with side pvp instances.. - combat is more hack and slash then brainpowah, this is a very frustating to me.. GW1 was way better if we are talking about making decisions of usage of spells and counterspells - the so called "big" pvp world: this reminds we of warhammer online. go there cap castle go to the next UPS: - visually is very nice.. - GUI is very nice - Map is nice ( zoom out and in) best ever seen tbh.
p.s. im not sure how the guild vs guild works.. i have not experienced it yet
But the WvWvW is basicly the last tier from warhammer online and cap castle kill bos etc..
Also the pve factor. and local open world quest's is the same as the public quest's
This is a good side game for me..but sadly it will not replace darkfall..

Originally posted by Snoepie I agree with this observation whole heartedly. As for the pvp not being open world, we knew that already so that's no surprise. I've not experienced heavy instancing like this unless you mean the story cutscenes? The pvp did remind me somewhat of WAR also. Not sure how much this similarity will remain once 2 week battles are up though. |

Originally posted by sidhaethe started out as a human warrior followed the main quest.. Instances.. - city - dungeon ( bandit cave) - castle - infiltration ( quest part) - in the city are instances
currently having a problem i went to some sort of portal and even after restarting its stuck @ kessex hills loading
This whole instances thing is kinda expected tho.. GW1 was heavy instanced aswell..
The problem to me is a very BIG deal.. is the combat. hackslash button spamm.. GW1 was a supperior game in teamplay

I'm guessing he was doing a lot of personal story quests, if he's complaining about heavy instancing. That's where the bulk of them occur. I disagree about the combat being hack & slash, though. I think this is mostly because people don't know how to play yet. In the earlier zones you can get away with this, but as you start fighting the harder stuff you just can't do that and live, unless you are zerging content that's too easy to begin w/. There's been multiple mobs I've fought where people jsut spam their skills, and die repeatedly. However, the problem is instead of thinking 'hmmm how could i do this differently' they just keep banging their head against the wall until the mob eventuall dies. And this is a problem Anet has been trying to tackle since the beginning, but it's indeed a very tricky one. On the one hand, they had to do a certain amount of handholding on the front end for the game, or people just won't get it. On the other, people are basing the entire game off of that hand-holding, not understanding that it basically there as a tutorial. I'm not surprised a lot of people are turned off by this game. It's not what people are used to, and it's still not clear if people will give it a solid chance or not. I had a couple livestreams running as I was playing, just to hear some other people's perspectives. Heard some valid concerns and a WHOLE lot of bs / ignorance. Even heard someone saying 'this game needs to improve it's gear grind', and i just had to /facepalm. |

yes agree above tho..
However i am used to player skill instead of smashing buttons..
i think the mass will like the game tho.. exploring is nice../ visually its nice..
but for me its not a replacement.. its more like a side game |

The game definitely requires brain power, trust me on that one. I could easily take two people at once with my guardian but, I just haven't gotten to the point where I understand how to move properly and that's the same for everyone. Once they understand how to move around the map, it will become a different game. I think the fact that you can only dodge twice kind of adds to it but, the point still remains pvp feels hack and slash because people are learning. I've made several builds and I've played a good chunk of them now and I can tell you that if you don't do certain things at the right time you're screwed. Like I said earlier, I could take two people with my Guardian but I haven't gotten to the point where I know how to counter everything and know how the opponent moves and all that jazz. This is not a game. |

Once you unlock weapon swapping and have the skills unlocked it becomes a completely different play experience. OP I think you should give it a chance and unlock more skills and weapon swapping (lvl 7 I believe that happens), it really does change the experience, there's a learning curve there but it's not steep. |

Originally posted by sidhaethe If you play any of the personal story it will be plenty of instances. If you run into town a lot you will zoone every time. But yes, you can play to lvl 15 without leaving the start zone and never see a loading screen there. It depends how you play. |

Originally posted by Snoepie Well yes it matters, instances suck a whole lot more then zones. Anyway, it's clear you are talking about zoning, aka loading screens between locations. |

He's obviously talking about doing his personal story. It has instances. People should really differentiate from the two. Your personal story IS, indeed, instanced through much of it. If you're just leveling out in the world, however, it's one large zone until you go to another zone....kind of like WoW, even though I hate to use that comparison since some people will jump on it. Originally posted by Snoepie I played a Human Mesmer, i didn't experience loading screens. I am only level 4, I went into the inn, went back out, after the big boss battle, the whole world beside the city is open to me without instances. I finished all heart quests, and some events, went into a cave of bandits by just walking in, got lost in it then died and teleported to nearest waypoint. The only instance I encountered is into the city, now Divinity Reach is huge, I walked all over the place for an hour without experience any instances. I played WOW, AOC, DCUO, FFXI, EQ2 and I don't find GW2 any major differences....guess instances just never bother me as much as it does you . Life is a Maze, so make sure you bring your GPS incase you get lost in it. |
