I'm only playing the role chosen for me. Who you supposed to be? |
Im giddy. Guild Wars 2 will finally be playable in like 4 hours (for me). The last time I felt this excited about a game was 1995 when Chrono Trigger was released for the Super Nintendo. I remember reading my Electronic Gaming Monthly to get all the details and locals. Story by Dragon Quest creator, Music by Final Fantasy music creator, and Art work by (one of my favorite artists) Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball Z fame. It was the trifecta! Actually playing it? Lived up to everything I expected. It was a phenomenal RPG and now that I think about it, actually changed the RPG genre for back then. Though it was still turn-based and utilized the action time bar, battles appeared on screen and had small cinematics. Also had the "TECH" system where two characters could combine their powers for a single master attack. Guild Wars 2 strums up those same feelings. For those who feel the same, when was the last game that made you feel that way? I Am Gamer. Play. Forever. |

I was this excited when I bought my new shoe a few days ago. But for a game, I was semi-excited when TERA was coming out for OB (I skipped class just to attempt to get in asap) except they had some major issues with regards to connecting to the gateway and then the client would self-crash. End up going to my next class and losing interest.
GW2 is getting me pumped however, I'm in no rush to compete with others this time, instead I want to build the perfect character for me and experience a dynamic world with possibly some WvW inbetween.
Cheers! |

I thought the beta started at Noon EST, until I remembered the pre-purchase didn't go by that schedule, so why would beta? D'oh. Anyway, I haven't been this excited about a game in at least 15 years or however long it's been since Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released. There have been some cool games I wanted to play in between then and now, but nothing quite like this. Here's hoping it's a blast.
no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

I'm very excited about GW2 as well. Last time was for the original GW,most mmorgs just don't do it for me. WoW and it's clones are so boring after a while...oh the grinding..

EQ2 was the last time I was this excited. I remember I ordered a brand new Dell XPS fully loaded just for EQ2/Anarchy Online gaming.

The last time I was this excited about a game was when EQ (the original) first came out. For whatever reason, I'm just transfixed by GW2.

Wasn't this excited since WoW Vanilla in 2006 (release year in EU). Unfortunately, I have so much work on my current project that I forbid myself to be this excited, because I know I clearly won't have enough playtime to satisfy it :(

I can honestly say that I've never looked forward to a game as much as Guild Wars 2. I'm not going bonkers over the loading screen or anything but the game seems to deliver on it's promises at this point.

Age of Conan... *sighs* That could have been so much more. Never was the type to be hyped for a game til then and it crashed and fizzled on me. Met some great people though so I can regret my time there. Hopefully this will fulfill me in the ways my mmo gaming has been severely lacking as of late. |

Last time I was THIS excited for a game was on 11-10-11 during the hour long trip to the nearest GameStop to get in line for Skyrim.

Waiting to go to Kunark, the first expansion for EQ. What a day that was, took the wrong boat, ended up at the darkelf dock and insta killed. I was a Barby shaman.

Mmhh let me try to remember... Maybe it was just before logging in Age of Conan beta for the first time. The exitement dropped quickly when I realized that past level 20, when you left Tortage, the game was a major turd. Since then, I don't let the hype get me. I'm calm, drinking a beer while sorting some papers for my work. |

Originally posted by Zhauric I bought AoC - I think that's the only MMOG I've bought recently. I was a big conan fan, though, and wanted to see the hyper-realistic graphics. I wasn't all that excited about it, because I knew it was really just more of the same kind of game I left behind when I quit WoW. I really had pretty much given up on any truly different MMOG design by any AAA developer until I saw the ANET Manifesto. At that point, I really only had hope. After all the reviews and videos, though, I think this is THE ONE. For me, anyway. I can't even play the other non-MMO games I have right now because I'm so ... (wait for it) .... hyped! |

For an game...really never. I was excited for swtor, and I'm pretty jazzed for TSW but this is the one I've been waiting for.

I was pretty pumped for Skyrim, and that fully lived up to my expectations. The same for ME3, minus the ending, of course. I haven't ever really been quite this excited for an MMO before though. I find my ecitement and expectations are generally well founded. There just hasn't been any MMO for me worth getting this excited over yet.

I'm ashamed to admit this but the SWTOR beta. After a few hours though, I was incredibly disappointed and wanted to cancel my pre-order. The whole thing reeked of gear grind same old fare. It actually made me miss WoW lol. I figured why play a much crappier clone of WoW when I can just play WoW. I re-subbed to WoW for a couple months after that and that was actually when I started looking into GW2. Read the manifesto, watched a one hour dev conference video, and fell in love with GW2. I can say that after having watched a ton of videos, especially the yogscast vids, I truly believe that this game will change MMOs for the better and for a long time to come. I don't understand how people can be excited about Tera at this point but to each his own. I know where I'll be spending my time in games, and that's in Tyria. |
