All I see is a slightly exaggerated example of what the original point was. MMO's are the ark of the gaming world. Let it take us in new directions. |

But of course my voice is not heard because its drowned by stupid, childish hate from people who, as you say, just love to hate something. I do wish every GW 2 Player doesnt have to go through what I and my guild went through in GW1, and I really hope people see anet's hype machine for what it really is. If you've researched the game and the dev studio KNOW what they are like and have made an informed decision.... fine... but dont be blinded, please. |

I mean sure, they said this and they said that, but you know what so does a president when he is campaigning and how often does he get to do what he wants to do? I wont go any further on that example so as not to open a much much larger can of worms... The game was fun with or without that feature. I enjoyed the intricate small scale GvG. I enjoyed the absolute freedom in my choice of build, skills, and class combinations. I thoroughly enjoyed the music, scenery, and story - some of the best story telling I've seen in an MMO and have yet to see a recent MMO match it. Sure the cutscenes were only prescripted emotes and well timed movements, but it was much more than what most games offered. Heck, Aion gave you a 3 second clip of the camera zooming in on a boss right as he goes "RAWR!" and thats it! So much for trying to drive the story forward :(. But in the end...I like your post, but I will humbly disagree. MMO's are the ark of the gaming world. Let it take us in new directions. |

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results. |

Originally posted by sadeyx I also have a dislike for anet, aka ncsoft, this goes all the way back to what happened with Tabula Rasa, all one has to do is go back and read my post if they still exist on that topic. My entire point is that there were a lot of folks who were hating on other games, I wonder how many of those same folks will be hating on this game afer they get thier hands on it. There is a great number of folks who I see always posting I hate this game, that game and that game because. It seams to be a sport on this site to be a hater, without actually having valid reasons. |

Hate for Hype is obviously with reasons... many many and then some games have been hyped to the stars and come launch and few weeks thereafter, the games have fallen flat miserably (some more, some less, but flat nonetheless)
Last time i was truly excited and hyped up about a game, was Deus Ex 3, and the hype was rewarded, atleast to me!
Only MMO that im currently slightly hyped up about is ArcheAge and reasonably so, because it has been without NDA since forever and all the features in it currently are just mindblowingly awesome. Currently playing: FTB Ultimate Waiting for: Wildstar, ArcheAge, Class4. Dead and Buried: GW2, SWTOR, Darkfall, AO, AC2, Vanguard, CoH/V, EnB, EVE, Neocron, FE, EQ, EQ2, DAoC, FFXI, SWG, WoW, and billions of eastern junks! |

I dont hate NCSOFT. They are just bank rollers. ANET are the studio, its from them which this.... 'exageration' comes from.
Yes, everyone says things which may not end up being true.., but its just the way in which ANET does it.
OK, i'll give you a small example. in GW1 everyone was fed up with the 8 emotes that we had, so we asked ANET "Will there be new emotes in factions" YES, they proudly proclaim there will definatly be emotes
Awesome.. everyone though, and left it at that.
Turns out, the ONLY new emotes came IF you bought the collectors edition, and ONLY for the two new classes.
This caused rage! "you said this..." and ANET's response was simply " Lets not argue about what was and what wasnt said" we said there would be new emotes... and there was!.... and thats all the ever said about the subject.
thats a small example, and of course not critical to the game at all.. but this is what happened to something that was critical, Alliance battles.... which turned out to not be alliance battles, at all. and again they said "well, we didnt actually SAY that..."
It goes on... storage... trade...events.. everything they ever did, was always not quite what you were expecting. |
