Monday is going to be one hell of a day of GW2 news. Articles, Reveiws, youtubers and sites are going to be everywhere talking about GW2.  Local chats of countless mmos will be filled with GW2. They already are, monday will amplify it 10fold because now EVERYone will no whether or not it lived up to so many expectations.  Whether those expectations are met or not will determine the content of the reveiws/chats/forums/etc..

I completely understood your post, though I was commenting on the fact that the words history along with the "will change the face of landscape forever" tinge at the end. Comes off as a bit much.

It will certainly be an eventful day for fans, and many will be discussing, I completely agree with you there.

Honestly after re-reading my OP it sounds alot more like hype. Not what I was going for.   It's more of a depressing reason lol. If Guild Wars 2 fails for me, the last bit of hope I had for this genre would be gone, and with that I would be done with MMO's for good and stick to something like planet side 2.

I agree. I think that WAR and Rift tried to come up with a good system for dynamic events but fell short. If GW2's system can make the world seem less static then it'll be copied.

Gear based MMOs have already tried varoius things to address the problems of gear differences over the years by moving more toward what GW2 sets out to do from the start. For instance, WoW came up with separate gear for PvP (which gets upgraded after arena seasons now) and normalized PvE gear on the release of each expansion (by placing greens in new 5 man dungeons that were better than previously acquired raid epics). This is a preference thing... but I really like the idea of GW2's system a lot better. I don't like raids and so hope that the weekely scheduled gear grinds are a thing of the past. We'll have to wait and see how it plays out.

WvW isn't new. DAoC had it in RvR. Lineage had it. PlanetSide had it. Aion had something like it. Whether or not it's a lag fest depends on how well tuned the game engine ends up... and we don't have and won't have that information, yet. Obviously if they can't make the client perform well when dozens of players are on the screen then WvW will suffer (although I did continue to go to the abyss despite constant crashes in Aion).

MMO Gamers are only excited about new games that havnt come out yet. Not games that are playable.

I want to be hyped, but i was told here my hype isnt hype

History? This release isnt any bigger than alot of earlier releases.. Its a pre-order beta weekend, nothing more. I cant believe how people are hyping this game to be something it certainly will not be, like a second coming going to end greed and poverty in the world.

Cool looking mmo with a new formular? Yes. Historical event in the world of MMOs? Doubtly.

Actually Darkpony, I see more GW2 fans being haters, as in being haters of anything Tradtional and non-GW2.

So people can say that goes both ways.

If the game is good, it will indeed be kinda "historical"...

For the first time in ages, a MMORPG not following the "EQ/WoW Clone" model would have succeeded.

But that remains to be proven.

 well this beta will probably help those that are on the fence about whether they want to purchase the game or not. Hopefully we get some opinions from a neutral standpoint, and not just from the haters/fanboys. My buddy got into the beta so may just check it out first hand.

It really will be interesting to learn how much of the game the week end testers will be allowed to see and experience. Perhaps what they are NOT allowed to see and experience will tell us more about both the state of the game and the purpose of the week end tests.

If it turns out 90% of the game is still under NDA and a lot of important questions remain unanswered it will be dis appointing. But I will try to continue to hope for the best....

I'm almost positive that the NDA has been lifted completely.  Tbh it would be dumb not to lift the NDA since the amount of people breaking it would be uncontrollable anyways

I did a trip around many games shops in my town and gamers most shops dont even know much about GW2 plus they also don't promote or do anything to show GW2 is comming many shops have 1 or 2 copys of pre-purchase on back shelf.

Im talking about Holland here, btw same also apply for the dutch game sites not much attention eather mags also no real coverage GW2:(

Is this the same with other european countrys?... becouse it seems GW2 dont realy be very known and hyped at all.
