Tbh, that's great, I'm really happy about this. Not every single MMO that will be released is going to be a failure, which seems to be the cool thing to announce around here. I'm hyped about TERA, and even if it keeps me busy until GW2 comes out, I'll be content with that. I just wish people would give it a decent chance, I really do. |

He said "prefer" so I hope the poor guy doesn't get attacked for his "preference". ![]() |

I read both the article on Kotaku and the tweet but neither of them really give solid reasons why Tera is better, other than..."I LIKE IT MORE". Tera is the same old PvE nonsense that we've seen for too long and the "action combat" is restrictive in that it locks you in place for every move you use. Just because GW2 has tab target option does not mean it's not as skill based. You can dodge attacks in GW2 and have MUCH better movement than Tera since everything can be cast while moving. Something is fishy to me about these two big gaming outlets boasting Tera so soon after each other. Not to mention Tera's official twitter was very quick to retweet what that gabriel guy said. |

Further if you could always move it would be extremely easy to cheese combat.
You could solo group bosses by simply strafing around them mashing buttons. It would feel like ice skating and swinging a nerf bat. Who finds that satisfying? Count me out. Action games having animation lock is a staple. The big selling point of this game is that it plays like an action game. The action feels tactical, fluid. ![]() |

I think you only played a caster at the low levels, because that's the same impression I got. But as melee there's no such thing, its really feels like you are right in weaving in and out. Which is why I didnt go for Sorc.
For Priests they say you have to keep moving but I haven't tried it. Mystic was kinda fun and was attracted to it because I read it becomes highly mobile with instant casts and DoT's at higher levels (and their Blink dodge move was pretty sweet). |

Originally posted by NBlitz You may be right for the PvE in GW2; it's hard to say how challenging it will be with such freedom of movement. Where it does shine imo though is in PvP. I see GW2 having a lot more potential of a higher skill cap than Tera since movement is free and gear is not as much of a deciding factor. |

Originally posted by NBlitz Watching PvP in MMORPGs always reminded me of that youtube video of the fat kid swinging a lightsaber. Originally posted by Feudalism Tinfoil hat off please, thanks. It's easy seeing it's En Masse. They're on the ball with the social media. They even have one of their own "Scapes" over on /r/teraonline and I'm there too. I have nothing better to do (like Scapes or someone else hired) so I keep checking /r/teraonline and I saw the post with the link to the tweet. Easy, fast, no conspiracy theory. ![]() |

Originally posted by Feudalism Same thing can be said about GW2, lol you like it more. To me GW2 has no feature I like. DE? I don't give a shit about PvE beside my dungeons, tab-target? tired of it already. Moving while casting? Thats i think is the thing that makes tab targetting even more boring when you kill any risk elements in using powerful kills. Dodge? O ya add a dodge skill exect you know what? In Tera i can dodge by just moving =O. O ya and its not fishy that NCSoft pushes GW2 beta on top of Tera head start? And now every other site hype up a game almost no one has played?

Originally posted by Feudalism Conspiracy theories aside, a large part of the article did deal with a system that isnt even in the game yet and no one knows what kind of impact it will have. And how many people will care. These things remain to be seen. It seems silly devoting nearly half the article to an untested future update.
But of course some people will prefer TERA to GW2. Theres no question TERA will have its audience. Be nice when GW2 is out so we can stop SWTOR vs GW2, TERA vs GW2, and coming soon TSW vs GW2 and MoP vs GW2. |

Originally posted by rexzshadow I hardly think NCSoft cares much of Teras head start. The people who bought Tera will play Tera and people pre-purchasing Gw2 will play Gw2, the people between will probably play both. |

Originally posted by Mavacar Oh, I disagree. i think NCSoft cares very much, if only out of revenge. IF you felt someone stole your property and was going to use it against you wouldnt you want to see them fail?
(not really trying to open that can of worms, but yes...NCSoft does want TERA to fail, I wouldnt doubt that at all) |

Originally posted by SuperXero89 Anyone remember Aion? Yeah the animation lock killed PvP long before any of the other issues. Gladiator: "I'm gonna hit you with mah big dmg move Sorc! As soon as I finish this 1.5 sec animation! Oh you're out of range now and I miss....." I haven't played TERA so I have no idea if this will be an issue for them. I have no interest in the game and I'm not bashing it just pointing out that the same thing existed in Aion and basically ruined and continues to ruin PvP to this day. Twitter: @Nephaerius |
