Being a game designer is tough. Probably the best route is foregoing any training in game design period and trying to make mobile games. Then using the games you design on a mobile platform to go straight into the industry. Then I would transition into making mods on good game engines like Skyrims, Unreal, Crysis, and Gamebryo. As far as education, I would look at Computer Science. The most important skill to have is self-reliance. If you can make a game on your own in your free time with a respectable amount of time, then you can do well in the game industry. Many who come from a background with an education in Game Design or Game Art are not capable of pegging away at their skills on their own day in and day out. Having a degree in such is actually a negative when seeking employment in the game industry. |

It's a total DiY market out there anyway, and anyone who IS hiring will attest that a finished personal project is worth more than a joke of a degree. Avoid trade schools in general, they are the original home of predatory lending. Writer / Musician / Game Designer Now Playing: Skyrim, Wurm Online, Tropico 4 |

1. Play games 2. Play different kinds of games 3. Figure out what you like from those games 4. Put them together and let people test it O.o ''/\/\'' Posted using Iphone bunni |
