Okay, so with every MMO launch comes these new waves of trolololers that bash the game with no actual explanation or evidence to support their claims. They assume that their mindsight coincides with that of the masses, and their opinions are the final verdict and fate of an MMO's life. So, I invite any and all trolls/haters and what have you to come here and actually explain why you don't like the game so that you and I can actually debate about it. However, there are some guidelines: 1. Any and all criticisms of the game have to be fully explained and fleshed out. No one sentence critiques such as "It's grindy *faceroll*". 2. All criticisms of this game must also be backed up with supporting evidence on how it's done better to you from some of the other most popular games in the MMO genre such as; World of Warcraft, Rift, etc. 3. When you criticize something, you must also explain why you are upset, and what you actually expected and hoped would be in the game instead. Absolutely no crying wolf here. 4. Absolutely no comparison can be made from TERA to games outside the related MMO genre nor towards games that aren't out yet. (No making your criticisms becayse of your over-hyped speculation of the "saving grace" you think will be GW2). This is a debate. This will not be an argument to turn into a bigger troll fest. I'm just sick and tired of seeing the millions of threads that hate on a game without any explanation, and I'm inviting anyone and everyone here to actually discuss it in a real way. EDIT: As per request. You can't say "because it's Asian" either. Thanks. |

*Grabs some popcorn* This should be interesting. Edit. I personally don´t have enough opinion about the game to say if it sucks or rocks. I tried the BETA for 3-4 hours and liked the combat, but didn´t like the asian styled graphics. But would have to test it ALOT more to give a final verdict. |

What about the ambivalents? The apathetics? Do you honestly want to exclude certain groups? Do those not live up to your "standards" for who should participate in your thread? Huh, buddy?
Think about it. I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil |

I'm not sure what you think is going to come of this. If someone tried the game and didn't like or outright hated it and has specific reasons, is the "debate" going to change their mind? If someone is trolling the game will they stop trolling? I don't see how this can end well. "Loading screens" are not "instances". |

Are people allowed to say "Because it's Asian", if not please add it to your list.

Originally posted by Norpan I'm hoping it'll be interesting too, maybe I'll get one of these guys to actually form a real opinion about the game beyond just a surface level analysis. And yeah, the graphics may or may not be for everyone. It can't be argued that the game doesn't look amazing, the graphics are super high end and the world is incredibly detailed. But if it comes down to the style (like it is for you), then yeah you're either going to like it and tolerate it or it just won't be for you. |

Why do you include dislikers in the same category as trolls and haters? If I don't like a game for a reason that essentially boils down to "I personally don't like how they did this", why would I have to try to justify it to anyone? You know you're only going to get flames here... edit: typos... |

Originally posted by Charlizzard It's not exactly something to change their minds, nor is it something to end their trolling thing all together. But I argue that a games' community is what holds the game together for the long haul more than anything else. And people in general these days are too quick to complain and cry wolf when a game doesn't live up to their utopian hopes and dreams. Maybe this will be a post for people to realize that the best games take time, trial and error, and that their nothing without people who stick it out for what's good about a game and help the developers help the game by being positive instead of insta-quit trolling. |

Note taken, didn't really mean dislikers as in the term you've stated. Was just coming up with possible synonyms, but I've changed it. Thanks. |

Tera just isn't a competitor in the MMO market. If you like it, more power to you, for the rest of us, there are just too many good games coming out this year to worry about a non-starter like Tera. Sorry. |

Looks like a typical Anime MMO with over-exaggerated movements, weapons, and cutesy tootsy characters, npc's and other crap. Avoiding this one like the plague. Fear the Alien, the Psyker, the Heretic, the moronic Steam Moderator. |

Originally posted by tgoodspe I played the game for about 10 hours, got a sorcerer to level 16 and detailed why I did not enjoy the experience on another thread. Multiple people told me that it would get better after 20 or that I didn't have to do the traditional questing and I could go off the rails and go farm mobs. This wasn't good enough for me, so I decided that I wasn't buying the game. I appreciate that games take time to evolve, as does the community. But as an example, SWTOR released with a lot of significant features missing and only 4 months later did they add some of those in as a patch. That's a long wait for a complete game or a good gaming experience TO ME. If Tera was F2P I would have definitely logged on occasionally to play, but it's not worth a sub, again TO ME. And frankly there's nothing I think I'm missing in my understanding of Tera to somehow change my mind. On top of it, while the graphics were pretty and well optimized, the art style left a lot to be desired TO ME. At any rate, good luck with this thread... "Loading screens" are not "instances". |

Save yourself some time, if you're looking for a pve mmo that you can sit there bash a few keys and not have to actively play, then tera isn't the game for you. Now if you are in a pvp guild or enjoy pvp and want some great group pvp this game rocks in that particular department. The gvg aspect is simply the most fun thing I have played in a long time. Rexshadowz posted on another thread his experience vs. 2 other guilds and to sum it up, he got sandwiched and defeated. But instead of complaining his guild went out and found guild 1 and 2 and beat them. This is the segement of the market, or demograph that this game will really shine with. Also unlike GW2 there is OPEN WORLD PVP. Most people don't like this aspect. A lvl 32 being able to kill lvl 12's whenever he/she chooses. I know I personally killed about 100 people last night all lower lvl just for fun. What then happened was I had to fight it out with people equal my lvl who came hunting me. Needless to say I beat a few of them as well, until a mixed group of Lvl 16's-32's came and took me out. This was fun and something Mmo's have been missing for a long time. |

Originally posted by Rusque And to that I say why do you not think it's a competitor? What does it have/not have that deems it doom to fall to the wayside? And what "good games" are coming this year that you apparently believe are going to be amazing that aren't going to come with their handfull of things you also dislike, bugs that need to be fixed, and features/parts of the game that are simply lacking and leave you desiring for more. |

I dont like the game. The reason is because the name of it sounds too close to Terable or Terabad |

Originally posted by Charlizzard I will agree with you that the beginning of TERA isn't as exciting as the game evolves to be. But I personally believe that it's done for a reason. This game does a good job at really introducing you into the game and how to play it well, albeit they might hold your hand for a little too long. But so do a lot of games these days. If you didn't like the questing, then what type of questing or leveling pattern would you prefer that's out there right now? And you're complaining about SWTOR taking a while to roll out content. To this I agree, they did take a while on their end. But no game is going to release to where people are 100% satisfied with the game. It's impossible. Take RIFT for instance, it launched with a lot of content, but also a lot missing. But over the time-span of just it's first year it received numerous awards for being the most improved MMO of the year, and is now flourishing with much of the content that the community who stuck around wanted. Every MMO takes time, and progress is only gained from how the community gives feedback. I personally believe there's an incredible amount of depth to TERA that slowly reveals itself as you play through the game, and is only going to be realized by people who take the time to play through and find it all. As for the graphics, they are extremely well detailed and HD. The art style won't be everyone this is correct, and it's fair that it left things to be desired. But to that, I say what do you want out of graphics in an MMO? WoW has the simplest graphics of all and while HD, nothing is intricate in its design. AoC attempted the realism approach which bogs down a lot of peoples' computers. SWTOR and GW2 opted for a stylized realism that is going to find its lovers and haters in both how they are still going to be very cartoony graphics. So it's fair that you don't like the style of this MMO, I'm just curious what people desire otherwise. |
