I probably wont post a review, but if I did post a review, I would definitly call it, "My review of GW2 beta weekend". The OPs definition of review is laughable, at best. |

Call me anti-pony or what ever you wish but I am of the opinion that you can gleam alot of experience and long term playability from initial reviews. So for what its worth I will call it a review if I decide to do a write up. Its not my fault that Dark Pony was bamboozled by the unjustified fanboi glorfied hype threads. I wrote a glaring review of SWTOR back during the 2nd to last Beta weekend whereby I called the game a glorified WoW clone with some potential. The negative reviews were there you jsut had to look for them. I wont be making up any words to please mmorpg.com celebrities as its your choice to read or not read my posts. |

Just wanted to chime in and say, officially, you can call it whatever you want as long as your thread title isn't in violation of our Rules of Conduct. It's more about the content of the post than what it's called. If you want my advice though, I'm guessing this will be your first experience with GW2 for most of you so 'first impressions' would be the most appropriate. 'Reviewing' the beta weekend event is legitimate, too. Anyone passing full judgment on an in-development game with only a weekend to play it that expects to be taken seriously should probably lower their expectations some, however. ;) Just my two cents. We'll be creating a Beta Weekend Reviews & Impressions Subforum in anticipation of this event to help avoid clutter. I would encourage you all you to post your reviews there as they will ultimately be moved there otherwise! Michael "MikeB" Bitton |

Wouldn't impression be a better term? Anyway, fear no Dark Pony, I won't be writing any sort of piece on the beta weekend. There will be plenty of people giving their unsolicited opinion about it. |

In one year we'll meet back here and see if an expansion is forthcoming and charging.....oh yes.....a box price. May already have been done once by then, but we'll see. I will definitely wager on your one year wager though. :) Oh...and I'm not betting on the price of the expansion box sales, just that they'll exist. President of The Marvelously Meowhead Fan Club |

I get what the OP is getting at but i beleive the very definition of "review" would fit since you are reviewing what content you have played. However i guess it should be posted tha tthe review whomever is giving it is a review of ONLY the content played it would NOT be a complete game review, there is a big difference. What the OP really means is don't go off claiming you KNOW the game inside out without first having some solid game time. Others are also correct however in that first impressions are absolutely HUGE ! Example i quit TERA in 15 minutes the UI was just more than i could take. There are a lot of things that matter to gamers we all want a game that meets out personal standards,it is nothing personal towards any game or anyone it is just our own opinions and standards. It seems to me so many readers get all ancy when they read some one else's opinions, that is not the posters fault that is the readers fault 100%,you need to control your self like an adult.

Originally posted by Unlight I think you should also include some positive, just ignore the trolling of it. I think it's best when there's a balance, not because it is balanced, but because it gives a better understanding of where the writer is coming from. Which in turn helps a reader to know how much they can relate to that writers opinions. On the matter of reviews.... I think it would do everyone good to remember that their reviews, previews, and reviewettes are still only THEIR opinion. There are a lot of opinions and plenty of people are going to agree AND disagree with you no matter WHO you are. There are posters on here that I have a lot of respect for and other I don't, but regardless I'm able to look at what they write and see it as their OPINION, not fact.
I think the biggest trap people end up in is thinking that they're the only one with accurate "facts," when in fact....they are just the owner of one opinion, one perspective.
No one around here ever agrees with me, but I don't frankly give a shit. I have an opinion and it's just as valid as the next "guy's." Should be a fun week after this weekend. From GW2 to Forum PvP. I suck at PvP, but oh well. I'm still planning on speaking my mind. President of The Marvelously Meowhead Fan Club |
