WoW can only go downhill and the developpers know that, they are not trying to make a good or fun game any more, instead they are scrapping as much profit as they can before it dies which will probably take a while as 10 million players aren't going to just leave from one day to another. Blizzard can probably still pull off another expansion after MoP but it will probably do the same thing, introducing some ridiculous race/class/features aimed at grabbing the most money from whatever they consider to be their top market (with MoP id say they consider it to be 12 year olds). That said, I don't think it's entirely a bad thing, I won't be playing WoW, but I still believe Blizzard is a very capable company and the more money they can scrape from poor old WoW the more money they have to developpe awesome things for me to play xD. I am particullarly interested in seeing what they pull off with Titan. |

Cata was supposed to put the War back in Warcraft. Open world pvp isn't conducive to the Skinner Box method that Blizz has done so well with over the years. |

I'll be staying for the pets - I love the idea of battling pets. I like the idea of more world PvP. It's starting to sound promising. |

Yay, more ganking. At least if this is a success all the gankers will stay with WoW and wont infect other games.... Cluck Cluck, Gibber Gibber, My Old Mans A Mushroom |

Personally, I don't give a damn about PVP, I enjoy the story. The Panderans are a really gimmicky/cheesy race, like the Goblins, not really a fan of that. |

Maybe it's a core issue with the lore, but the 2 faction system is one of WoW's largest problems. It divides the playerbase and I'm not sure it adds a lot to the gameplay. Maybe more War is good, but the focusing on the factions and reinforcing the imbalances isn't helping. If you don't worry about it, it's not a problem. |

I'm still looking forward to MoP even after playing WoW for 5+ years for several reasons: 1. Monks are freaking awesome. 2. I'm actually really intruiged by the pet battle system. It will be nice to have something else to do besides RP or grinding dungeons (I don't really PvP that much these days). 3. I'm not sure how much appeal getting to manage our own farms will have but I'll give it a shot. 4. New changes to archaeology. 5. While I may not be that into PvP anymore, I admit the whole "putting the war back in warcraft" angle does sound promising. I'm especially looking forward to getting to take down Garrosh. In my opinion, anyone who claims WoW is "dying" is just putting their foot in their mouth. I wouldn't be surprised if, even in the face of newer games like GW2, Tera, and The Secret World, WoW lived on for another 5-10 years. It still remains as one of the most accesable and user-friendly MMO's to date and no amount of newer flashier games will change that. |

Nice to think of them going that direction, but I doubt it will make it there in a PvP level. I too enjoyed the Tarren Mill vs South Shore Battles. I was completely geeked by Alterac Valley when it first arrived, thinking that they might put those mechanics into the world. The whole taking towers and them becomming your archers and the like. That is more how I pictured World of Warcraft being. Zones like they have today, but controled by Horde, Alliance or perhaps an NPC faction. I played for years and did still enjoy the battle grounds, but nothing did ever show more promise for World pvp concepts than AV. Oh well, Guild Wars 2 and Planetside 2 are what I am looking forward to now. |

Didn't they pretty much use the same line when Cataclysm was in the works? Something about the king of Stormwind and the new Warchief being more warlike and they were focusing on returning to a more hostile world and blah blah? |

Will never happen. WoW is developed for and marketed at the lowest common denominator. The type who who would rather have Pokemon Pet battles over "real" end game features such as Player Housing and PvP territorial objectives. |

Definitely dead for me. They had plenty of time to keep the quality up, but they chosed the streamlined route instead. (started in 2006, stopped last year) ***** Before hitting that reply button, please READ the WHOLE thread you're about to post in ***** |

My problem with WoW is the change in philosophy it's gone through, mainly. When it was about to release and in early development, Blizzard said they would take all that boring hatefull crap in other MMO's and get rid of it. And they did! They released a fun game with tons of potential. But a couple of years down the road and we begin to see the rot setting in.
Naxxramas is released and you need to grind faction to get in. Unlocking AQ and more rep grind for Cenarians. TBC releases and yet MORE rep grinding to get keys to ALLOW YOU TO ENTER CONTENT!!! Screw that! I paid the same as everyone else. Why deny access to content?
And so it went, on and on, slowly the old boring crap from the "old MMO's" crept back in.
The other problem with WoW is, they can't stop changing stuff. Constantly. How many times have we seen CORE MECHANICS change for classes. I'm not talking about re-balancing but a complete overhaul of how a class plays. If SOE did that to EQ they'd have had mass cancellations. They did have mass cancellations when the hit SWG with the NGE. How do Blizz get away with it?
I thought Vanilla was excellent but, sadly those days are long gone. I honestly fail to understand how WoW has managed to maintain such high numbers for so long. It is a freak and we'll never see an MMO with such high subs ever again and I've been saying that for years.
That's why I keep knocking it. |

I'm all for it and might give the game another whirl of they keep things balanced. I know Im biased since I mostly played Alliance, but it seemed all the visable victories all went to the Horde. I know about the balancing things out zone wise, which is why Im hoping with a new land it can be both sides putting the hurt on PvE wise. Just wish they would add viable world PvP like DAoC had, but that kinda requires a 3rd faction to avoid one side being beaten down all the time. |
