They will add mounts at cash shop BUT you will be able to get them from ingame goals also. Mark my words. |

I'm 100% certain that mounts will be added...when they finish working on mounted combat. |

Well, I have nothing against mounts, as long as they are not ridiculously fast (+200/300/400/500% increase speed) or flying. Yeah. Hate that part. |

Mounts? Where we're going we don't need mounts. Charging Asura Gate to 1.21 Gigawatts.... |

Originally posted by DarkPony You're probably right, but they could also tie the acquisition of mounts into your personal story. I can see a whole bunch of interesting things they could do with it, even incorporating branching storylines for different types of mounts (or different breeds). Then, they can put "special" mounts or mount skins into the shop and they could also sell saddles, barding and other mount-related cosmetics. The easy way would be to throw the whole thing into the cash shop. The interesting way is to make us work for them. I hope that eventually, they'll do both. |

Dont forget my hoverboard! I dont get why you would need mounts. Its not like youre racing anywhere. Plus theres quite likely to be quick travel options. |

Originally posted by DarkPony I too feel they will want to hit the vanity crowd pretty heavy with items just like that. And as for the person who mentioned mounted combat, I thought A-net was a "It will be ready when it's ready" kind of developer. Doesn't make sense they would release the game without as cool of a feature as that. Oh well, guess we will just have to reley on our trusty steed Snotty for now.

I agree, it has to be done well if they are going to bother. You can already teleport everywhere, so the only point for mounts is unique combat like underwater. In GW1 you could jump onto some temporary mounts which got their own skills, like the seige devourers. That was cool. Running around on a sparkle pony that makes your combat animations look bad is not cool. So yeah, would be happy to see mounts in an expansion, as long as there is a point to using one. Not just running x% faster. |

Not at launch but, I think for sure in some future expansion. I'm a mount collector and will def miss them in this game, but they are a luxury item usually, unless u get that lvl 10 60% speed ugly horse, no one likes THAT mount. |

Sure there's teleporting, but I think there is definitely room for some mounts considering the size of the world/open areas and who doesn't enjoy a good speed boost, right? :) I think we'll see mounts, eventually.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if we see mounts with combat capability... technically, one already exists. The ASURA GOLEM that your character can step inside, control and fight. It's simply categorized as a siege weapon and moves very slowly.
The Black Citadel has some VERY IMPRESSIVE war machines parked around it. It would be pretty sad/silly if we never got anything like that to actually use.
But this is all fluff for later on :) the game already seems to have so much for launch. I can certainly wait for vehicles.
That being said, dream vehicle: Airship .... I know it won't happen but... c'mon! :D |

I can imagine ArenaNet adding things like Junundu or Siege Devourers, with special abilities, viable in a certain area. There is also the siege golem in WvW. They would either be limited naturally due to hills, lava, whatever, which you can't cross while using it, or only in the personal story or dungeons. I can't imagine people running around on mounts that have no use except looks OR uses like speeding up travel everywhery. Especially when taking a look at potential mounts, and given that everyone would have to able to use it. There are no living horses or similar mounts used in real life or most other games. Well, Dolyak..but running around with a Dolyak in a desert? Yakkington is a special case, it would be stupid with players. Similar with the Snow Beasts, also used by the Stone Summit dwarves. There are wolves, but they are too small except for Asura, and the Norn would probably never ride one. Just take a look at the relation between Eir and Garm. And a Charr riding one? I don't know. They would probably prefer machines anyway. As would Asura (Golems). And Sylvari..maybe, probably not. Drakes would probably be a better fit for most and more versatile regarding environments, and there is a precedent with Dagnar Stonepate riding one, while we have none for wolves for example. So, Asuran Golems/Battle Suits, like in WvW or the ones used in "Edge of Destiny", maybe other mounts used similar to Junundu and Siege Devoures, yes. But free roaming on a horse or whatever, an Asura riding through the Black Citadel on a dolyak, or a Norn on a moa?? Forget it. I'll wait to the day's end when the moon is high |

mounts will definitely be coming, how do i know this? do you know how much revenue mounts can bring in from RMT?
there was a story about a mount(Celestial Steed) in WOW that made Blizzard like 2 million bucks in the first couple hours it launched. In EQ2 you always see people with mounts from the cash shop.
ANet isn't going to pass that chance up. |

The only way I would be OK with mounts if they can be used in combat, WvWvW included. Using them just for fast travel is stupid and the way mounts are implemented in most current MMOs pisses me off. It doesn't even make sense for GW2 anyway. We have instant teleports, wtf is the point of a mount? To show off? wtf cares about that shit? Show off your armor or something.

Mounts for combat optins only, like only if they add another button where you can switch to mount combat and the speed of walking is not insanely increased. What hurts games is invincible mounts. My favorite mount was the hoverboard mount from RUnes of Magic. |

Think about it this way. Because there are no mounts they had the time to code in your character transforming into a pig. Totally worth it. Into a pig. Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play? |
