I've been playing the closed beta, but it's pretty cool they are letting people do an open beta of it.

Interesting timing.  Recall in 2004 Blizzard waited for EQ2 to announce their release date then started open beta a few days before EQ2's release.  Essentially ruining EQ2's release.  In that case Blizzard knew they had a much more advancded and superior product as EQ2 was not ready for release while WoW was in great shape.  Now they are sort of doing it again trying to undercut GW2's thunder releasing OB weekend one week before GW2's open beta weekends.  While D3 is not an MMO neither is GW2.  Both are more like co-op games than real sub based MMOs.  The question is will Blizzard have the superior product this time as well. Certainly  interesting timing to release their beta weekend

Wow, thanks Zefire! I had no idea this was going on. Now I will have Tera beta, Diablo 3 beta, Rift & SWTOR competing for all my time this weekend.  Damn, I'm spoiled.

Seriously dude, go look at GW2, it's a full on MMO...

Diablo 3 doesn't have any pvp, so it definitely won't compete with GW2 for playerbase since GW2 is a primarily pvp game.  I don't really see why anyone would be all that excited about Diablo 3, it sounds like a lot of clicking and killing monsters for no reason other than to kill more monsters.  The only way i could stomach a grinding game is if it lets me get powerful for pvp purposes.

So are you trying Beta or not? I think we are just concered with trying it out. Trying beta is not a promise..

Well the beta was due to end My 1st so this is more of a demo than a beta I guess - but then again they'll have a flood of players hammering the servers so I guess that is good.

Also remember this is the begining of Act 1 on Normal difficulty later acts are more difficult and there are higher difficulty levels in retail including hardcore.

Shame the PvP is not in yet but hey I am going to grab two friends and have a blast.

EQ/Ultima which I think were the only MMO's around were subscription base if there were f2p MMO's were very small so kinda makes sense what OP said for a Real MMO if he meant 3d and all. Even though he is mistaken as GW2 is an MMO type cant be consider partial p2p cause you got buy the game to play even though there is no monthly sub and might be partial consider f2p with the cash shop being placed... Cant say much on D3 I have yet to see game style other then is also partial p2p cause you have buy the game to play is not total free. 

Korea has launch too many f2p to keep up and now with SOE and NCSOFT going for fully 3d MMO to f2p model Korean publisher better come up with a better graphics formula for their f2p games which is mostly 3d toon on 2d world and is getting old as WoW.. with more 3d games worlds being more fully 3d environment.
