"The development costs of the game have now been covered many times over so the future of the company seems pretty secure." Maybe it's fun to let you people guess the developer/studio that posted the above statement on his website 2 days after release of said game. So, make your guess. 1. What's the name of the developer/studio? 2. What's the name of the product? I hope the moderators here bear with me ... I maintain this List of Sandbox MMORPGs. I had to Google LOG to figure what it was. Not a MMORPG, back to /ignore.

Well, the guessing game didn't work (no problem, hehe, was just meant in good fun anyway). The real good news is that it is possible for a small indie developer/studio without any publisher to come out with a game and to have financial success with it. The market reach of sites like Steam and GoG is so good these days that a deal with a traditional publisher isn't really necessary any more. And I hope Almost Human's success (along with Minecraft for example) causes more independent developers to bring much needed fresh ideas into the genre. I maintain this List of Sandbox MMORPGs. The thing you are not saying is that there are 8 other indie studies per 1 successful that won't make it past release of their first game. It is no secret that about 80% companies created won't survive first 3 years of existence. |

Low production costs, decent price point and good coverage by popular reviewers. ----- |
